I think it is actually more of a technical problem, seems the soundsmen didn't made the right balance and so the backup's singer's mic was higher when the mix was done.

You would hear it just fine if you were in that room.

your right it doesn't right, but it's not his fault, there is a sound engineer that doesn't know what he is doing, they always either have the backing singers turned up to loud or not turned up at all. this happens to my backing singers all the time, so annoying :D lol

.... they didn't. A bunch of Hollywood execs and record label CEOs did. I mean, it was quite unoriginal, and the theme of "Girlfriend" has been repeated a million times. It's simplistic and Avril sounded like she's that annoying girl begging to be yours... which captured a whole demographic of teenage girls... while she loses her credibility that she gained from writing and recording "Complicated" and other earlier tracks.
