It's always families or people who have homes who win...never anyone who is single or gay or anything different...I guess that's why they do background checks because it isn't really true giveaway...HGTV wants to only give away to white families with homes already,but, maybe I'm wrong....who knows...when I see black people or asian people or gay or alternative families winning...I might believe it's true.

@catesjd The 2011 Urban Oasis winner was a black woman from Baltimore living with her sister... a Social Security Staff Assistant. Granted she inherited the house she was living in but she was far from rich or white. Also, she is single.

they werent excited because they probably had to sell the home to pay for the taxes and insurance. at least now hgtv gives you $500k to help with everything. crazy, but true!

I think they seem very grateful maybe a little shy I mean my goodness I would jump up and down like a nut if I won in private but would be more reserved I'm sure with millions of ppl watching me. Just because they didn't go crazy in front of the camera doesn't mean they didn't in private.

She is smiling,polite and has excellent manners as does her husband. Just because you're all used to watching those annoying reality shows with goofy, ignorant people taking advantage of their 15 minutes of unearned fame, doesn't mean that everyone has to behave like a fool in front of the camera. A lovely and gracious couple- i wish them well!

Ok so I watched when they surprised her and she acted annoyed that they were there and so i thought ok, maybe she was in shock...but she is actually at the new house and still acting like an unappreciative bitch! Ugh! There are so many other people in this country that deserved this house way more than her!

@himay182 They probably knew they couldn't afford the taxes and are going to sell the home immediately. I would personally take the cash and run. Dream homes are more like nightmares from what I've heard.

She just seems extremely shy and she's probably a very private person. And she's not itching, she is smoothing her hair, which can be a sign of nerves/fidgeting. I hope they are/were able to enjoy this gift! What a blessing. ^_^

I really think the girl is on drugs or something! You would have to be to act in the way she was! The thing is her husband wasn't acting appreciative either! I really hope someone nice wins the next Dream Home! Does anyone know the story on them at the present time? Did they sell the house? I hope so and I hope they bought themselves a new personality because that is what they really needed!

I hope a bottle of Head and Shoulders dandruff shampoo was included in the home as that is all the girl does is scratch her head! Girl you really need to loosen up! Hopefully the next winner will have a personality and some respect and appreciation!

Yeah! The bitch needs to say thank you for the house like she means it, thank you for the tour that the people didn't have to do for them, and thank you for the car. They're spoiling her. She doesn't deserve it. If i won that house, i would sell it to someone that needs it like a big family.
