here is a real good WIPMM acoustic with john kahn playin stand up bass and jerry is singin Jerry Garcia/ John Kahn-When I Paint My Masterpiece (1-31-86)
heh, ironic. one of the best versions of one of my all time favorite dead songs, on the day i was born...only thing that would make it cooler is if i was born in berlin, or during the show. Or both!
@TWEC21 not to be a dick, but that's not irony, that's a coincidence! It would be ironic if this was your favorite song but you couldn't paint or draw to save your life.
Thanks for posting Great memories of my greatest roadtrip ever and one of my top five cover of Dylan's Masterpiece done by the boys oh how i jones for a show!!
@jimboobray Already pointed out, but I'll pile on: This is a Dylan tune that The Band played. And FTR....(and as a chance to pile on some more :) )....The Band has always been one of my absolute favs, but they certainly weren't "100% Canadian" either......ever hear of a key member named Levon Helm?
@dog1dog2 They formed in Toronto, four of the five were canadian most of the songs were written by Canadians and were Ronnie Hawkins band after he became CANADIAN, mabey not 100% mabey like 99.9 percent .
@mcaddicts So 4/5 = "99.9%," eh? I was merely one correcting basic, factual errors with 100% accurate facts....I'm more than well aware of their "predominantly Canadian" roots, and have no sense of angst about it whatsoever....no "selective history lesson" necessary...so take a load off Fanny...
@dog1dog2 Well by saying Eh its now 100 % Canadian. And yeah this is a dylan song. You can put the load right on me. Only if you'll take Jack, my dog :)
@vedas7317 He didn't, but that doesn't really matter....I was just given' mcaddicts, etc. some good-natured grief. Ah, the internets. The Band was "80% Canadian," but 100% awesome, and the latter is all I ever REALLY cared about.
@mase5701 as far as I know, The Band has the earliest official release on an album. It was never on any Dylan Album until one of the greatest hits CD's several years later, but the song was written by Bob Dylan.
@superman290187 Ive had chills ever since I thought of this song yesterday and now its like....no words. I guess that s the thing about this stuff! Soooooome day everythings gonna be smooth like a rhapsody! hahahaha madness!
Damn that was HOT!!!. Bobby was ON POINT!!!

@legaldead ....as it just so happens...
well, not to say i can't paint or draw to save my life. I have certainly mastered the art of drawing stick-figures.

@dog1dog2 i believe levon helm became a canadian citizen to avoid the draft, so technically he could be called canadian.
