@MechaGojira00 I agree, that & Women & Children first are most underrated albums by Van Halen but there best album to me will always be there first record
@resdsox1 honestly i could never, in a million years, distinguish between the classic VH albums each one is just soo great for different reasons, making it too hard to value one over the other.
@taypax The last Van Halen album was 1984. What came after (until today's release of 'A Different Kind of Truth') was not Van Halen. And that's not to diss Sammy, coz I loved his early solo stuff.
The one chance that I was lucky enough to see Van Halen live was when they went on tour promoting this album ( Fair Warning ) I feel that even though I only saw them once live, that I caught their act at the absolute prime of their awesomeness..
This was the kind of music that made rock n roll. van halen went back to basics on this album and no one gave it a chance. it turned out to be there best album ever long after its release
VH just doesn't get the credit they deserve when it comes to musical ability. Ed's a surgeon, Alex is an animal, and Michael's a fuckin beast. They're always in the pocket.
@mrwilliamwonder whats going on is that old van halen records would have guitar coming from one speaker side and the bass guitar coming from the other speaker side
at the beginning of this song the bass is coming from both speakers and slowly transfers to one speak which is where it usualy was
@horseboyken Your panties analogy is great. I was born in '49 in L.A., stayed until the early 70's and was a music listener before FM radio even existed. Having gone through the growing pains of AM radio, MONO recorded music and the infancy of high fidelity music equipment, I've traveled some musical miles. Whether you like the Beatles' music or not, their contributions to the recording and production process are as monumental as their space in rock and roll lore. Thank God my ears work great!!!
@mrwilliamwonder Oh my god!!! You have to spend 3 seconds going over to the volume control icon on your computer or turn your speaker up a bit!!! That's terrible!!! How will I live knowing that you must go through such hardships?!?!?!
@mrwilliamwonder With the power that this song begins with, that volume drop off at the beginning can really piss you off but that's what the volume knob is for. David Lee Roth is possibly the absolute perfect front man by application in the history of rock music. Sammy Hagar anyone? I don't think so!!!!!!!
Some people remember were they were the day JFK got assassinated or 911 happened. I remember exactly what I was doing the day i first heard this album . It was on a Emerson tape player on the mantle in my mom's living room. It STUNNED me and it still does all these years later.
@Hunkola Whats funny is that Diamond Dave wasnt a big coke do'er..he's perceived as such though. Hes a huge pothead though. To this day even. He talks some serious pot in his book. The hard shit he seemed to stay out of.
Did anyone else ever notice the production error at between 0:07-0:11? It sounds like an engineer decided Michael's bass was too loud and turned it down for those four or five seconds. Of course, I could have my head up my ass and not know what I'm talking about, but that part never sounded right to me. Anyone have their own theory on what happened there?
@jjp009 I think they did that one purpose. cause the bass is supposed to carry the intro at first, setting the groove, then they bring it drown a little bit to make you listen in close so they can hit you hard with the powerful bridge going into the chorus.
@jjp009 I think they did that one on purpose. cause the bass is meant to carry the intro at first, setting the groove, then they bring it down a little bit to get you to listen in close.......... then hit you HARD with the powerful bridge going into the chorus. rock 'n roll.
@jjp009 I was just going to comment on that. I think it's a mastering error--it sounds like everything got faded, not just MA. Whatever it is, it's REALLY noticeable. It happens again at 0:48.
I don't think there has ever been a more complete rock band. The singing, backing vocals, bass, drums, guitars, hair, screaming, jumping, attitude, partying, women, sex appeal, drugs, drinking.. MICHAEL ANTHONY HAD A JACK DANIELS BASS FOR CHRIST SAKE! Greatest band ever.
@Sickman1968 I totally agree, they fucking kickass and they are cool and had a sense of humor about there music to which is a rarity. Yeah the J.D. bass guitar is legendary as well!
