Update: Apparently, in late August of 2009, Zweigoron, having become the sole owner of the shop, announced that he would remove the straitjacket and padded cell from the shop's interior, and changed the name of two donuts on the menu, "Bipolar" (changed to "Mood Swing") and "Massive Head Trauma" ("Headbanger").
I think this was a good call on the owner's part.
Guaranteed if these guys had a "down syndrome donut" or a "retard donut," the public outcry would shut them down immediately. Mental illness isn't taken as seriously, even though the quality of life issues for a mentally ill person are similar or the same as for someone who is mentally retarded. The Psycho theme is fine. Psycho isn't a clinical term. The bipolar donut should probably be renamed the manic donut. And they should lose the doctor's outfits and padded cell. It's clever but not funny.
His tie is black and white. It looks like the hide of a zebra. He better be careful or else he'll give the animal rights activists something to complain about.
This is so stupid to protest a donut shop, the only conclusion I can come to, is that the protesters must have a stake in the shop...they're shareholders...and this is just a publicity stunt. Besides, everybody in the Bay Area knows that Stan's donut shop in Santa Clara makes the best donuts in the world. They don't need to stoop down to fake controversy to sell their donuts. Stan's gets standing room only crowds by word of mouth alone.

Really, now? Please explain how they are doing so in this context.

How thick can you be. Something can both trivialize and sensationalize.

you talk english very goodly, barren.
What you seem to me missing, though is that you can't simultaneously *sensationalize* and *trivialize* in this context.

Corncat. Don't act stunod. He is saying both.
Stunod is donuts backwards by the way and mean stupid.

wait... is he saying Psycho Donuts *trivalizes* mental illness or that it *sensationalizes* mental illness?
Also, simply repeating that there is a problem with suicide in children hardly indicates a connection with... donuts.
