I was fortunate enough to spend 2 days with Jason. We made a pair of these shoes together. The rubber powder comes from any tire re-treading shop. Get the fine not coarse rubber. It is blended with Barge Primer and painted on with a popsicle stick in several layers. As to toes being squeezed...sorry but you built them wrong. Properly made there is no squeeze. A properly fitted shoe can be made with or without a last.

@ElfNori what is you padded the toe area before taping up the foot? Wouldn't that provide the toe room you need?
