Capo on the 4th fret. Use an open G chord shape using your middle and ring fingers on the low strings. Put your pinky to work on the high E string at the 7th fret. Play alternating bass with your thumb on the low E and D strings. When you feel a groove, pinch the high E string with your ring finger when your thumb is on the D string to pluck them together. Keep that pattern going, and then try alternating the pinky at the 7th fret/index at 4th.
@mldorf Thanks! Yeah, I'm probably going to break down and buy Ernie Hawkins' CAGED DVDs so I can just learn all the combinations up and down the fretboard completely. Sadly, I don't play enough to pick it all up by osmosis. It'd probably make a nice duo for two guitars to play together each with the capos at the 4th and 7th fret respectively.
Yes, at video Mr Casady plays the Gibson Les Paul Signature, predating the Epi Jack Casady Signature. I had one of these and... the Epi sounds fine also.

Those boys played loud, my god I'm surprised they can still hear a thing. Last saw em in 1974 and they nearly blew the building down...

How to get started playing this song on guitar:
Capo on the 4th fret. Use an open G chord shape using your middle and ring fingers on the low strings. Put your pinky to work on the high E string at the 7th fret. Play alternating bass with your thumb on the low E and D strings. When you feel a groove, pinch the high E string with your ring finger when your thumb is on the D string to pluck them together. Keep that pattern going, and then try alternating the pinky at the 7th fret/index at 4th.

@aphor alternatively capo 7th fret, Emaj structure, bass on the E and A strings.
chord changes are between Emaj and Amaj
