Others in big cities I have found in my area will create a problem and think they can play God.I do believe a few in this area does do their job. I used to smoke medicinal marijuana nightly to help me sleep. 6 months ago I was ratted out by a co worker to my boss and lost my job. After that happend I got really depressed and felt like commiting suicide. once my family found out I smoked marijuana they made me admit I was an addict and was admitted into an inpatient program where I was diagnosed within 15 mins with a "duel diagnoses". After being over medicated I came out feeling like an addict than the time I was admitted.

I think there is a severe differentiation to be made between good psychiatrists and those that are in it for money. Not all Psychs are pill-pushers. When I was in the hospital after a spinal cord injury the Dr. I had at the time decided that I "wasn't depressed enough" and that I was "too happy" because I just wanted to get on with life.
She first sent a psychologist to see me, and when that didn't work she sent a psychiatrist (and his intern). All three of them said I was "more stable" than most of the people working there and told me that if I needed them to back me up on anything they would. It was a scary thought that they were there.

One thing is certain. Drugs damage the brain, no matter in what form. In the past it was done with heroin and cocaine. Today they are replace by new drugs and will probaly continue to be this way. I do not trusts psychiatrists. Some though do seem to go by what you say and the answers you give. Others in big cities I have found in my area will create a problem and think they can play God.I do believe a few in this area does do their job. Same as social workers most want to play God and forget they have guide lines they are supposed to go by.But we still need psychiatry .Some really need them and can't live with out that.We need more good ones.

Pills, in all simplicity, are designed to help mentally disabled people comply with emotions and reality. Yes, most people probably do not need medication, but there are many people who cannot function without thought-altering substances. It seems many doctors and patients forget what the field of psychiatry should really be used for-- the truly insane.

Mental illness can affect not just an individual but family and friends. I used to smoke medicinal marijuana nightly to help me sleep. 6 months ago I was ratted out by a co worker to my boss and lost my job. After that happend I got really depressed and felt like commiting suicide. once my family found out I smoked marijuana they made me admit I was an addict and was admitted into an inpatient program where I was diagnosed within 15 mins with a "duel diagnoses". After being over medicated I came out feeling like an addict than the time I was admitted.

People relax! Theres probably more deaths of patients from surgeons and doctors than psychiatrists. Drugs do not work for everyone. I was diagnosed with ADHD, When I got a good ass kicking from my Dad, somehow it disappeared. I was diagnosed as having depression when I was 17 to 19, it was only after I stopped the drugs and decided to put the effort in to get what I want in life, I was able to improve. I think there is a severe differentiation to be made between good psychiatrists and those that are in it for money. Not all Psychs are pill-pushers. These people are legitimately licensed medical doctors who have chosen to specialize in the field of mental health and these blanket statements are utter disrespect toward their hard work and the integrity of their profession as a whole. I say this as the husband of an aspiring Psychiatrist and as a pre med student and aspiring Cardiologist.

I've watched the entire documentary and it's deeply disturbing. I'm not a fan of psychiatry and i'm not a fan of Scientology either.
The over medication of people is a problem, but this documentary is blatantly misleading and blames all of histories abuses on psychiatry, which is misleading and dishonest. What about the politicians, sociologists, and economic elite that were involved with these atrocities?
Why does everything boil down to psychiatry? Surely the causal factors are more complex.

I've watched my own mother's life completely ruined, not just by a single incident, but by the whole pshychiatric industry, Body mind and soul was destroyed, and I find every single claim in this movie to be completely correct - by no means do I believe in Scientology, but because they made this means nothing for me - I find myself watching, and not being able to disagree with any of it, having seen it for myself. I just disagree with about 5% of what is presented as fact.

It obviously works for some people. The drugs i take make me relax so obviously the drugs work................but obviously they dont for others. The drugs didnt work for me most of the time.

What strikes me as sad is the fact that sometimes you can be so far down that you think "whatever cures me or helps me, I'll try". I believe there are greyzones in todays modern psychiatry, but personally I'd rather stick to psychology.

When I was in the hospital after a spinal cord injury the Dr. I had at the time decided that I "wasn't depressed enough" and that I was "too happy" because I just wanted to get on with life.
She first sent a psychologist to see me, and when that didn't work she sent a psychiatrist (and his intern). All three of them said I was "more stable" than most of the people working there and told me that if I needed them to back me up on anything they would. It was a scary thought that they were there.

Science (from the Latin scientia, meaning "knowledge") is a systematic enterprise of gathering knowledge about the world and organizing and condensing that knowledge into testable laws and theories.
Psychiatry, in my opinion, and as you will see in this video, is not a medical science, but rather a bunch of theories that has never been proven, and yet they drug people and children into their graves just to make money!

The first ten minutes of this video is leaving me with little hope for the future "facts" of the next 9 segments. First, asylums were not the first or the only place where people were inhumanely tortured...not a new idea. Dr. Benjamin Rush bled the mind because he believed it would cure the mental illness. They used to bleed people for physical illness too. They DID not know have the science we have now back then. I will continue to watch though.

Yeah I had to leave that particularly good psychiatrist since was moving to another state for university. The one I now have up here in Sydney has literally 5 minute long sessions where he just pushed strong pharmaceuticals on you, then each session tries to add more. I refuse to take any of that garbage. And this guy is really popular, well-known and respected?! It seems if you have depression their aim is to make you into a catatonic zombie as a cure or something.

Sure, psychiatry doesn't help everybody, because it's a developing science. Scientology isn't remotely science, doesn't rely on diagnosis, and costs many times more than any clinical visit. Of course it's important to be skeptical and look out for yourself in regard to any medical care, but it seems like scientology sets itself up to take advantage of people already at their lowest. If you're going to be skeptical of anything, be skeptical of *that*.
