@aaronduffy101 Okay, since you apparently know when I'm joking around better than I do, I suppose you're right.
Are you happy now?
Because unlike *some* people on YouTube, I am not such a b*tch that I have to get into fights with somebody because they have a sense of humor and I don't.
I find it funny how I came onto the video for an old song saying how old music is so much better than new music, but you're all trying to convert me and make me see the error in my ways. Kind of makes me chuckle. :D
@The1985Channel We're not trying to 'convert' you. It's not a religion. If you'd said you *prefer* old music to new music that would have been one thing, but you're saying it's objectively *better*, but then showing that you don't actually know that much about more recent music other than top 40 radio.
@The1985Channel Also I think maybe you're hearing the past through rose-tinted headphones? I don't know how old you are but there was a lot of crap around in the 60s/70s/80s too - it can seem to us like music was better in those days but that's because only the good stuff has stood the test of time. The rubbish has
@anmaree Sadly you're right. I wasn't born until the early 90's so I guess I do look on the 70's and 80's with rose-tinted headphones. I know there was crap back then, but it seems to me as though a larger proportion of music released today is crap than it was back then. Just check out something called "Party Rock Anthem" here on YouTube and you'll see what I generally view today's music as being. Some modern artists I can have some respect for as musicians, but some deserve no respect at all.
16 years of age...Not born in this era...Yet i LOVE hit band, and the jam..and the who..and i watch the youngones :P...No wonder my mates think i'm strange D:
I actually find it kind of bad that the only way I know this song was because it was on Young Ones, otherwise I wouldn't know of this band's existence. The reason it makes me feel bad is because I wish I was actually from this era, when this music was popular, as in the kind of band that I see play and instantly like their style and songs.
UP THERE, SAT UPON THE BIG SCREEN SEE HER, SEQUIN COVERED ICE QUEEN BIG SHOUT, TERRY'S IN THE BACK STALLS THROWN OUT, SO MUCH FOR THE CAT CALLS OH I'VE GOT NOTHIN' TO DO SAT AROUND HERE PLAYING WITH ME CUE BALLS...I'VE GOT NOTHIN' TO DO. ELEVEN PLUS ELEVEN HAD MORE TO DO WHEN I WAS SEVEN.... STAND HERE, IT'S JUST A PRETTY CORNER..ROUND HERE YOU CAN'T, STAND ANY SHORTER WATCH OUT, BLUE MEN ON THE PUSH AROUND THEY COME, HERE LUCKY TO BE OUT OF JAIL. ELEVEN PLUS ELEVEN...HAD MORE TO DO WHEN I WAS 7
this song is older than I am, and I still found it through young ones when I was a younger, stealing my dads VHS tapes without him knowing at the age of 7!
To the person that uploaded this song...Thank you so much!!!!! In the 80's I was looking for this band, this song. No one ever heard of these guys. Many thanks!!!
Remember seeing them at the COATHAM BOWL in REDCAR, near MIDDLESBROUGH! About 1980ish Great live band! Put my foot in it saying to lead singer "it would be great to have a live album" He was not impressed as he said " We already have" Happy Days!!! lol
same old same old...no manager or a bad one, popping pills girls cheap thrills Mark watched too much sports on telly he got good gig deals going elsewhere once he was gone GREAVES did THE TRUTH and they scored alright but the hammond organ was too heavy to carry whereas MARKS whole HARP collection fitted in one sainsbury's bag you know
They played at my old secondary school - the PTA has a soul/blues club night and I think they've played a couple of times. Not actually something I'd go to, but it's really random.
I saw them a couple of weeks ago, you should give them a try next time at the PTA . I've just found Graham Day and the Gaolers (try "Begging You" here on you tube). Congrats on your taste in Martha and Small Faces anyway.
They are indeed...playing weird places and hopping on planes to see antipodeans at times. I saw GREAVES a while back but his paysley shirts were too Carnaby streets and his band mates English Hoolliggaans...they wrecked my friend's friend's drumkit...either they'd not been fed properly or they got pissed off with their horoscope!!
And another thing. Why are classic tracks like this getting critically ignored by everyone whereas shit like Halo by Beyonce gets millions of views? Modern music sucks. 70's and 80's tunes are the best. Some 50's and a bit of 90's are also good. Not new stuff though. No, that is all shit.
There ain't a lot I think it's fair there's always been music but JUMPING JEHOSAPHAT if I was young today, i'd be gutted...beyonce works wonders on my grand dad when he's mislaid his blue pills and I wouldn;t hire lady gragra as my cleaner...on the testeretorne front 50cents + Muse + what ? it's pretty appalling...makes you wanna buy tickets to see STING of PHIL COLLINS
@The1985Channel Sorry, I agree with dariowestern here. You're not judging music on its actual merits here. Are you really saying Buck's Fizz were better than Arcade Fire?
@anmaree Not heard either of those bands, so I can't really comment. Modern music is too heavily based on voice enhancements, though. There was more talent involved back in the 70's and 80's - nowadays anybody can make a song without needing any real talent themselves - look at that trashy Rebecca Black video. Back then you needed to have musical talent to create a song. Nowadays there's all sorts of programs and enhancements to do the job for you.
@Nanotech92 Already acknowledged them in one of my earlier comments. You're right - there was some exceedingly good music released in the 60's. A Whiter Shade of Pale by Procol Harum is one of my favourite songs of all.
What do we have today? A load of computer-enhanced crap with over-stylised music videos and predictable lyrics. I think I'll pass on that!
@The1985Channel A few 21st-century artists I'd recommend: Arcade Fire (especially the Funeral album), Okkervil River, Of Montreal, Metric, LCD Soundsystem, Neko Case, The Shins, Yeah Yeah Yeahs... just give them a try, okay? It won't hurt you, I promise.
@The1985Channel Haha No, But You Gotta Have some respect for the people that DO Put the work in, Fuck the Charts, But there Is other good modern stuff, Contrary to Popular beleif THERE IS OTHER MUSIC THAN THE FUCKING CHARTS xD
You Put "Not new stuff though. No, that is all shit"
Like i said, And i can't stress this enough, Fuck the Charts.
