  • russian navy don't use torpedoes they use underwater rockets Shkval

  • damn Russia you scary

  • city under water...lol!!

  • Great Video Thank you

  • fail, screws are inaccurate, no caterpiller drive, fail

  • You have to wonder how that thing would perform AFTER it fires it's missiles. It looks well balanced as long as the missiles are onboard, but what about after they fire the missiles? Will it still function or will it fall to the bottom by the aft end?

  • SCARY!!

  • Anyone who believes the last submarine the Soviets worked on was developed in 1977, is the most navie person known. It must be rememberd that the Soviets gained much of its military capabilities from us such as atomic warfare in area's where we were superior. The Walkers were active into the 80s & considered as doing the most damage to us through espionage. Though a nice simulation, true submarines are vunerable after launching a missile through satellite radar tracking to point of origin. MGM.

  • Nice animation inside the missle silos(Like in Red Octobar :D ) but in the real sub you cant walk between the silos the sub is made from 2 delta III bodys next to each other. The 2 mistake you made that are seen in the video are: the coning tower is to close to the middle and the rear part is totaly different look up on the internet for the real deal. All in all nice video.

  • Nice animation, music from Das Boot?

  • fires missiles from under thick ice, icebreaker missiles, that HAS to be a first!!

  • LoL!! 5:50 Cardassian galor class

  • It is no submarime. It is a supermarine.

  • what music is that near the end?

  • isnt the typhoon ssbn submarine 178 meters long and haves a crew of 180 and haves a missle of 20 vertical missels

  • Nice animation... I really enjoyed it!

    Jon

  • The typhoon is the NATO name akula meaning shark is the Russian name

  • for one thing, the Akula and the Typhoon are totally different classes of submarines: 1 is an SSN and one a SSBN.

  • Great animation!!!

  • Here to clear up the Akula confussion from wikipedia

Project 971 Щука-Б (Shchuka-B, 'Shchuka' meaning pike, NATO reporting name "Akula"), is a nuclear-powered attack submarine (SSN) first deployed by the Soviet Navy in 1986. Akula ("shark") is also the Soviet designation of the ballistic missile submarine class designated by NATO as the Typhoon class submarine.

  • Gratulacje Panowie, fachowa robota!

  • It is time for us (USA) to be less arrogant. Less provocative. We have been the largest producers of Mass Murderers: Bush x 2, Clinton, Truman, Johnson, among others. Germany produced Hitler, Russia Stalin, China Mao Tse Tung. Most of the World is hates USA, including Japan, China and Russia, let alone the Islam. If we are to survive we should have better politicians than the one we have now, specially Hillary Clinton, meddling in other countries affairs ...

so much more to tell ... no space.

  • Usa need to stop being the worlds police force and let other governments handle their own business. I was once bullied in high school and it wasnt until I hit the guy in the face with a shovel that the bullying stopped..I love my country, however it needs to be hit in shovel a few times to learn its lesson just like that bully :)

  • @savvybella Actually, Austria produced Hitler. Germany hasn't produced anyone yet. =DDDDD

  • This sub has its own indoor swimmingpool!!

  • Hunting about Red October there was a silly film. The scene of film used a name of the captain Sablin, but real captain Sablin has organized the demonstrative protest of the seamen with the slogans of democratic reforms. He was the patriot an idealist. Gorbachev a follower Sablin.

  • Moreover Sablin was the comander of a military ship, not submarine. At least that is american movie. So it's okey! XD

  • just a bit of info, in the book hunt for the red October, the sub used a different form of propulsion that was called a caterpillar drive that was never actually used in submarines.

  • also, knowing how cramped submarines are why does this one have a swimming pool?

  • Typhoon was supposed to be more liveable so the crew could stay on mission longer.

  • oh, thats very interesting. not sure on how intelligent but still interesting

  • It's the opposite of normal Soviet design :p. I don't think there was a Russian word for 'comfort' pre 1989 ;)

  • oh and the NATO designated subs are usually bigger, more heavily armed and older versions than their Russian or Soviet designated counterparts

  • False statement....

  • The Akula and the Typhoon are a bit different a Typhhon is basically like a sub class of Akullas it is a larger Akula that can be armed with Nuclear missiles

  • cool vis but some mistakes

There were 19 planed Akula subs 16 were built 4 are active and 3 are preserved while the other 9 were scraped. Akula what its called in russia NATO calls it the typhoon. they were in service since 1986. the other mistakes (like one or three) are very minor and very depending on the type of Akula I or II sub dispace ment and such also very as does the crew but this sub is by far one of the biggest Akulas like the fictional Red October

  • oh and cool animation

  • Comment removed

  • chlopaki fajny pomysl jak i realizacja

    milo sie ogladalo

  • amendment----174м

  • Very cool. I love the Cardassian Keldon Class warships on the computer screens!

  • Akulas are NOT typhoons.

  • The NATO designation for this sub type is "Typhoon". The Russian designation is "Akula".

The Russian sub that NATO has designated "Akula" is a fast attack sub. I can't remember the Russian designation for that one though. Anyone remember?

  • Bars

  • 2 anaplastic

    23,20024,500 t surfaced

    33,80048,000 t submerged

  • What submerged displacement this thing has? I saw all kind of numbers, from 24,000 to 34,000 metric tons.

  • I'm impressed with the good animation. Submarines are a great strategic weapon I hope we are never forced to use in battle, and the Russians have consistently be innovative in their designs. Of course, I would love to see animation on the SeaWolf.

  • I love you Russia

  • /????/?//????? ehat?????????????

  • I love all the cavitation bubbles...

  • that turn right before the credits seems,...a bit far fetched as a sub turning like that, at an angle over 45` would dislodge something.

  • I could have sworn I saw what looks like a Cardassian Galor-class warship from Star Trek: DS9 on the sub's control panels, for example, at 5:48... correct me if I'm wrong, though.

  • the 212 would easily destroy the akula.

the akula hasnt any chance to detect it

  • ohh great, yes type 212 would destroy typhoon but first typhoon would destroy Germany :-)

  • Typhoons (akula) have multiple independant titanium hulls..and between the inner and outer hull batteries and more gear wich serves as aditional shielding.. unless you use SUBROC torpedoes is almost impossible to sink a Typhoon with a single torpedo.. and that allows her to fire back almost for sure

  • What each side calls them. With the ballistic missile boat NATO uses the term Typhoon, Russia calls it Akula. The fast attack sub called Akula by NATO is called something else by Russia.

  • The "Akula" attack sub your reffering to is called "Shchuka-B" in russia

  • bravo! very educational thank you for posting

  • the missile silos don't go to the top of the sub?

  • True. The code name the WEST gave the FAST ATTACK SUB is the Akula. The Russians call this sub the AKULA whereas the WEST calls it the TYPHOON. Got it?

  • I thought Akula and Typhoon were two different type .Typhoon was desighned for strategic nuclear counterattack mission, right? While Akula is designed as a attack sub.How could they be the same?

  • You are using the NATO names for the subs.

  • not at all\

  • It became confusing due to russians really calling Typhoons "akulas".. while NATO call Akula what russians call Shchuka (Pike).

Curiously all that ended now and the new russian submarine is called Borei class by both russia and NATO

  • 174m, а не 170. и винты заключены в кольца

  • И наболдашник на заднем вертикальном плавнике

  • lol

  • дурня какая-то интересная

  • The music is from some computer game isn't it?

    I heard it before

  • Metal Gear Solid ;)

  • Dont be fucken foolish

    Its from the film `Das Boot` about a u-boat.

  • Depends when... during presentation its from MGS, later its Das Boot and Hunt for the Red October

  • It was never used in MGS or Hunt for Red October. It's called 'Konvoi' by Klaus Doldinger and was composed for the movie 'Das Boot'

  • @hans1066

    |The music is from the red october film about a special unit of this class

  • huh? i thought akula was attack submarine.

  • The akula class is a fast attack sub. The Typhoon is ballistic missile submarine. The american Navy designated them as SSBN. Not sure what the Russian designate them as

  • you are cavitating

  • Sorry its brief but my stepfather served in the soviet navy from 1962 to 1974 and then worked for a private company returning to the reformed russian navy in 1993 where he remains active working on the auxilary vessel brizhina and other vessels as well as teaching in the st petersburg naval academy, if you want more info just message me il give to you what ive collected over the years.

  • a sub would never follow its own torpedo, it would never attack unless attacked itself, normally runs with an escort never sailed in the atlantic can garentee thatthe submarine displayed is cavitating a big no in subs theres 3 active TK208 (TEST unit) TK20 and TK17 three remain laid up at litsa gurba the others based in bolshya lopatka.

  • Nao tem los angeles ohaio nao chega nem perto coitado dos americanos, e nao venham com essa de radar que vcs tomaram um coro na corrida spacial da mesma forma

  • this is the most dangerous weapon of all time, i guess.

  • i think that a seawolf woud eat this big one.. far more sophisticated & high tech

  • Canada sux Russian weiners

  • Sorry, but this conversation is getting to ... inteligent for me.

  • It's the first thing that comes to your mind you liar and your dad's too.

  • I know it's winter... it must be hard time in Canada without much sun.

  • That sub looks like a big dick. Russians must have really tiny weiners.

  • Maybe, but when I look at the boat the last thing that come to my mind are russian weiners :P

  • 3, there is rubber coating but also there is like on the first time on the russian vessel used the active sound system which regulate and compensate the sound of vibration in the special parts in body. 4, the floating antennas are used from the 1950 or 60. This ship is the best from the 70 tees from the soviet technical skills. In fact this ships are now obsolete.

  • Qual subamarino americano que existe novo hoje, nenhum amigo

  • Nice video however a lot of facts mistakes. 1, AKULA is the class of the submarines type not a name. Akula is nuclear powered attack submarine used mainly against the submarines or the ships (air carriers). Typhoon is the another class of the submarines (using NATO codes). It is balistic. 2, there is no swimming pool just bigger bath like 2 meters on 2 meters wide. There is sauna and gym. This submarines are in fact two Delta type bodies put together.

  • Nice video

The other people making comments think they know everything.

    1. A sub will never get that close to the bottom floor

    2. A torp does not detonate at the hull, it explodes around it so the water pressure will immediately decrease then suddenly increase...causing an implosion of the hull :)

  • hey genius now a days torps can break into the hulls exploding inside of the subs

  • Hey genius, you wouldn't know that kind of information to begin with.

    Love,

    a sonar technician.

  • These days they have a handheld bomb that a diver would carry and if he got close enough he can attach it to the hull of a ship and it blows a hole right through it.

  • I don't think so man. That would require the sub to be stationary at sea, or at port. If the sub was stationary at sea, passive sonar would detect the diver's boat approaching, and the diver entering the water...

  • Project 941 Akula(Nuclear Ballistic Submarine) = Typhoon(Nato designation)

    Project 971(971U,971A,971M) Shuka B(nuclear attack submarine)= Akula 1,Akula2(Nato designation).

    Ps:Anyway Shuka may shoot 12 SS-N-21 missiles(3000km),they may have a nuclear warhead 200kt.

    Project 949 / 949A( anti-aircraft carrier,cruise missile submarine) = Oscar 1 / 2 (Nato Designation).

These are the 3 main types of Submarines present in the russian fleet.

  • Well done Comrade, but I think you'll find 3 TY-CL still fully operational and refitted, like the das boot music.

  • nice animation...what programm you used?

  • Softimage, Premiere, After Effects

  • lol! they used music frome the "das boot" ost

  • Typhoon is past now.... Astute is ready!

  • Hi everyone... just a little tech note here. I spent 10 years in the US navy onboard trident class submarines. this is a really cool vid... only one problem. The Akula class russian sub... is not a ballistic missle boat, its a fast attack. The typhoon is a ballistic missle boat, built to counter the u.s. tridents. Missiles can not be fired through pack ice. and the missile tubes are inside the primary hull, not the secondary.

  • Thank you for the comment. I see you have a lot of experience in the subject. I am an amateur so my case it is rather hobby and never been inside real, serving sub.

  • Really? Which boat where you on?

  • Actually deep6dvr, the Russian name for the project 941 is the Akula. The fast attack you speak of is the Shuka-B. I assume this unconventional reporting name by NATO is because they ran out of phonetic alphabet names (Alpha through Zulu). This makes it rather confusing sometimes.

  • More than 1 year seaching the name of this music.

    Thank you.

  • Any information about the music that starts at 06:10 please! Name, where to find... anything!

  • why do you have a spaceship on the display inside the sub?

  • Because I didn't have better texture ;) and no time to make one myself.

  • great video :)

  • one word, excellent.. one question, in the missile bay, it seemed like the top of red colored missile tubes did not reach the upper hull of the boat, is that how it is?

  • To be honest I have absolutely no idea about the technical details of the inside of the missile hull of this submarine...and I think not many people have.

  • yeah.. probably.. russians hv always been pretty secretive about their naval technology.. but the information was educational, and i enjoyed it as a whole. thank you!!

  • Pretty good. You almost had me convinced that you had some expertise. You missed some minor details. The Typhoon was equipped with Kordt nozzles. There are other "minor details", that you missed. I have studied the Typhoon in the course of my duties.I think, I know that sub. =Stefan=

  • Well, my expertise wasn't deep and concerning the model itself it only covered basic shape.

  • Absolutely Fantastic! A Great Show Well Done!

  • Thanky You very much :)

  • I have only two questions. What program did you use to do the animation? It's some of the better stuff I've seen. And the second question is, why is there a Cardasian Galor Class battle cruiser on this displays in the control room?

  • I used Softimage. And about the second question...well, I just liked the texture and think of it as a joke ;)

  • WOW... you made this? Awesome !!!

  • Well...yes. Except the surface explosion :) It's from the movie.

  • Awesome! Really good work!

  • Thanks.

  • Amazing!

  • Very nice animation. Two things though. You may want to check the dimensions. The sail seems to be too far forward. And the periscopes and radar masts would not be raised under water.

  • Well, my documentation was not perfect - sketches and photos so there are some dimension errors. And You are correct about the periscope - it's like bubbles ... so it looks nice :)

  • Yup... ruskys are gonna shot down cardassian starships with nukes XD

  • Tip: If both props turn in one direction, the boat could only go in circles or worse (this is a gues) start spinning around it's center. They have to be counter-rotating. In the vids I have seen, it looks like they turn toward the center (port prop turns right, starboard prop turns left).

  • True, props should counteract each other. I've never saw it earlier. Thanks for the tip. Next time I will pay more attention to such things.

  • yeah if there were bubbles deep underwater on flank speed there really would be something wrong and everyone would track you easily, the preasure should eleminate any bubbles.

  • i dont think submarine creating that much cavitation (the bubbles) would last very long against a los angeles class.

  • Who said it was real? Submarines engines as such should not generate bubbles at all. It just looks nice.

  • of course you are right. i was just nitpicking :P

  • I love this animation!

The typhoon is a very powerful weapon

  • Oh Yes it is. Fortunately it was never used as a weapon.

  • Typhoons do not have simming pool!!! and there is now only one typhoon in active service. GREAT animation though!

  • Yes, they have !!! But it looks like a big bathtub :) As for the number of Typhoons in service you are probably right... the animation is almost 2 years old.

  • make some vid about the AKULA II attack submarine too :)

  • But why is there a picure of a cardassian warship on the instruments?

  • Haha...because I liked the texture and since the inside is purely fictional I thought: Why not?

  • my question exactly

  • Damn I was wondering that too...

  • bunch of tedious wireframe spinning around. Watch a REAL Project 941 video, see how the screws really work, etc. This is just a wannabe trailer for a no-plot video game.

  • And this supposed to be a "trailer for no-plot video game" not a documenat movie showing all the technical details. But thanks for the comment, I really appreciate it and maybe next time will try to be more precise.

  • So make a better spinning wireframe and then we can talk.
