  • That blond kid laughing at around 2:00 looks a little artificial.

  • Americans in USSR?? Wow! :-) Very nice clip here!! I dont agree capitalism is the best nor socialism, we should take the most positive aspects of every country/culture/politics and create one, but its hard to please every person on earth, some like it, some dont

  • One thing always strikes me about these "ordinary life in Soviet Union" is the general feeling of humbleness all around. Capitalism is a system with great potentials, it allows the full creativity of individuals. But it also releases the monsters hidden inside of you. Everyday, every part of your life is soaked in competition. The better you are, the harsher the competition, the harsher the jealousy,envy,discontent,pressure,loneliness...etc.

  • My experience in helping my parents make this film in the USSR in 1961 was very special and helped form my view of the world ever since. I appreciate all the comments, or at least most of them. I roamed the streets of Moscow and other cities at age 17. It was the first time I was not afraid to walk in the night. I grew up in Oakland, CA where you needed to be afraid to survive. You can interpret that any way you want.

  • @pauldr44 of course, because why do people commit crimes? for money. and if you don't need money, then theres no need for crime. :)

  • @pauldr44 Only in America do we equate the Law of the Jungle with "freedom." Unless one is a ward of the state, it is almost impossible to function today without needing attorneys to help plan everything you do. Every right we think we have is trumped a hundred times over by hidden contracts, laws, rules, penalties, equity law, admiralty law (on land!), licenses for everything, and police state provisions. There is a feeling of sheer madness overtaking America and no hope of remedy.

  • en la rusia sovietica moscu vive en sus habitantes

  • i wish i could go back in time....the soviet union was such a beautiful thing; now in these days we have to listen to american pigs propaganda all day, their re written history; the russians beat the nazi's not your cowardly country that can't win a war on their own, let's use communism to beat up the nazi's now let's beat up communism with the help of bin ladden, now we have no enemies lefft so we'll create one the taliban who we fund; ameica.....i will never stop hating you until the day i die

  • @ryanbeev I feel the same way...look at it! Now all you see in this video is a smelly ghetto pit

  • @ryanbeev Must have been nice to live in ignorance, believing in what you were told, believing in the state and your place in society. Content with your own tiny piece of the pie.

People are no longer blind to the state. But now they want more, more, more and there is no more to give.

  • @Danny77uk The most lieing country reffering to what you are talking about, is simply the United States of All Countrys. (USA, but still :D) Republicans and such "things" have a blindfold over their eyes. They are prepared to kill for their country. 90 % of the goofy's doesn't even know what their country is doing in Afghanistan. So you're obviously also a Fucktard.

  • @Olivere118 trololololol

  • @ryanbeev hate to break it to you buddy but life in the Soviet bloc was not easy. Or 'beautiful'. My grandparents left the Soviet Union in 1938 and all they say about it is how hard life was, how authority completely ruled everything. If you had written an anti-government statement such as that ^ in the Soviet Union, you would be shot. How beautiful indeed......

  • @apodrez Ok.. Ok.. But if you write an anti-government statement in the U.S you would either be terminated secretly by the C.I.A or be called a terroist/muslim and be sent to guantanamo, which is a Gulag x 30.000

  • @ryanbeev

    You're a fucking lunatic. Get a job.

  • @elsquibbs Do you have a job? In fact you're lucky if you have one in that Rotten country of USA.

    PS: You're the fucking lunatic!

  • @Olivere118

"Luck" has nothing to do with it, you fucking failure. Maybe you could get a job as a fireman, ready to get to work the next time a bunch of Muslims torch your federal buildings.

  • @elsquibbs Oh god im dealing with one of those cases again... Aaand may i tell you, if an Afghan man wanted to be a firefighter, let him be that. So the next time those american nutcases torch his family's home he's ready to work to protect his family from those illegal (not even american) psychos. Think about that redneck.

  • @Olivere118

Way to ignore the point, you dishonest bastard.

  • @elsquibbs a lunatic huh? that sure is dismissive, keep being fed your propaganda for all the good it does you, i'd have a job if the economy weren't so bad

  • @ryanbeev

Right, you'd have a job "if"... Grow up, take some responsibility and stop blaming the world for you being a fucking failure.

  • @elsquibbs Get a job!!!Clean shit!!!)))

  • I wonder was the government guides just behind the camera?

  • Anything from U.S. (liberal democracy with freedom of press) - evil, lying bourgeois propaganda.

Anything from U.S.S.R. (repressive, authoritarian regime with heavy censorship) - unbiased, completely truthful, taken as gospel.

  • these are clearly elites! I won't be surprised if they have connections in the Communist party.

  • @lysol5555 ignorant douche.

  • I think it's hilarious how you all cry that the American news is "propaganda", yet you all blindly lap this up like it's gospel...

  • @Verbeke7 obviously youre a moron, since this was done by independent groups.

  • @Checkingokop

And you think an authoritarian state is going to allow "independent groups" to see the plight and suffering of its people?

  • @Verbeke7 oh go damn what an ignorant being. Ive lived in USSR in 80s. and while in the US you had scums like Son of Sam, in USSR there were no such abominations prior to 80s. But keep listening to your fucking up propaganda about "closed societies", you go tnothing else to live by, it is your mother country after all. pathetic.

  • @Checkingokop

"The censored, state-run newspaper told me that there was no crime in glorious Soviet Union, so it must be true!"

  • @Verbeke7 you missed the part where it said that your mother left her dick stuck up your ass.

  • Their city layout was certainly much more walkable than ours- mixed use areas ruling the day instead of our car-dependent cities. That's a good thing.

  • The Soviet Union in 1961 was no where near as prosperous as the US or western Europe in the 1960s.

  • @dfc99nyc Yes. That is true. What you are leaving out is the fact that russia has never really been prosperous or wealthy, compared to North America.

  • C/\ABA CCCP B BEKAX !

  • USSR 1961 = Obama America 2012

  • @VeryHugeAss You mean 1930s Germany? you can't escape Obamas Corporatist policies no matter how much you want to.

  • Russia is a pile of shit. Get over it.

  • @VeryHugeAss

Good nick! Must have been picked up from very deep self insides :)

  • I love the line "grandmothers who help out at home" what that really means in that there were three generations living in one or two room apartments.

Why not show that part of live in the USSR? This is garbage.

  • BEST DAYS EVER

  • Darn! They seem to have left out the Gulags into which most of my older relatives disappeared into back in the 40's and 50's.

  • Ordinary Life in the USSR 1961 ??? I would replace the description to Ordinary Life in the Moscow 1961. They somehow forgot to visit regions outside the Moscow

  • Oh, you mean like the genocide we committed upon the native tribes whose lands we stole and currently live on?

  • @pauldr44 i dont mean to be rude but all great powers have done so, including romania, germany ENGLAND, AMERICA, FRANCE and so on...

  • @thesomebody3 Those who hv done dont make it right. And so if you say it is wrong for the USSR, yes it is. But what states make no mistake or use no extreme method in order to survive?

  • @Punderland sry for saying but thats how we got in this mess with earth over popullation too much CO2 emittion and so on, cuz of selfish bastards

  • @pauldr44 ah you're one of those lunatics who think that god just magically separated the world in countries and states.

  • @pauldr44 You're talking about native tribes of Siberia?

  • @pauldr44 Native tribes committed genocide on each other, turned against each other to help whites - there are some former American Indian tribes that no longer exist becasue they were disolved by another tribe - know your history. Whomever conquers owns the land, that's happened on every continent.

  • @zzremington please spare the bullshit, they were exterminated in great numbers by American settlers, what they did to each other very minimal compared to the western genocide, and their inter-clan increases wars were a direct result of Western settlement.

  • You forgot the genocide.

  • The Soviet fucked up Korea

  • @JozyKnows Actualy that was the Chinese, the Soviets did almost nothing in that conflict.

  • It was a beautiful country before the Americans destroyed it.

  • Gotta love leftist propaganda! It's a fucking workers' paradise! Now, if we could only make USA be somewhere near as good. Oh, wait ... we are already half way there.

  • @1965maple Is this a video of the USSR or Obama's America?

  • @Psylliumhead Wow, what an original joke! Take a liberal and make sure to characterize them in an extreme light to make them appear evil.

I definitely can't wait for the Republican candidate to win...then we can become a religious controlled, military state because that's exactly what happens and how it works.

Seriously, get a grip on reality man. It's statements like this that keeps things from getting done in politics and further divides us.

  • First of all one wall is constructed to protect the citizens of Israel againt terrorist attacks(which have greatly deminished since the wall went up), and the Berlin Wall kept its own citzens in the DDR like a prison. So no they are not the same thing at all. Simple solution, PA does not want recognize the exsistence of the state of Israel as the Jewish state. So since when does country not have the right to defend it's self against evil people who are trained to hate Jews from an early age

  • @TheGophers11 the berlin wall was built to control de crossing of terrorist too, nazi terrorist who were continously attacking russian control over germany, it had a reason to be built.

  • Thanks for this comment.

  • @TheseSummerDays No, the Soviet Union collapsed because its economy was not meeting the demands of the consumers anywhere near as well as the US. Command economies lost the battle against market-based economies. Russia saw this and realized it in the 1980s. It just could not sustain itself anymore.

  • @TheseSummerDays the us isnt near collapse nor is it showing any signs of collapse yet. america has been through far far worse times.

  • @TheseSummerDays Actually the both collapsed due to their own voluntarily bankruptcy.

  • @TheseSummerDays you are Retarded Russia has sold many Weapons & was involved in Afghnistan from 1979-1989.

Russia ran out of money that has NOTHING to do with the world.

The US has screwed itself by sending Jobs over seas to china & India, it has NOTHING to do with "wars" Go back to school Retard!

  • @MetalHeart8787 Yes, USSR was in Afghanistan for 10 years. And US is there for more than 10 years now (nearly 11 years). At least USSR came back after 10 years. But I don't blame US for still being there since US is a real WAR monger nation. I am a PhD student in Physics and will be defending my PhD on Feb. 9th. I envy you because you still have some opportunities left for going back to school..may be for some simple history or current affairs lesson.

  • @TheseSummerDays I NEVER said we are not in afghanistan! dumbass!

we were attacked! this isn't a war against "afghnistan" callingthe us a "war mongering" Nation makes you Look Retarded! you should go back to school & Learn something!

why does every fuckin Moron like you always mention the us when the video doesn't have anything to do with US! was Russia attacked by Afghanistan/taliban in 1979? NO

theres things i like about Russia & even speak some russian. I know more about Russia than you do

  • @TheseSummerDays They came back after 10 years because they LOST and had no more funding. The US had killed Osama and soon they will be handing control over to the Afghanistan goverment. Lets not forget the USSR was fighting the government of Afghanistan. The US is fighting terrorist they helped to create. It's only fitting the US went back in to get rid of what they created.

  • @TheseSummerDays s.n.m. say no more

  • I love the USSR as a workers state, despise its leadership after Stalin passed on.

  • @AtheismCentral

...and you say this before you go back to your nice comfy lifestyle in the USA.

    What a tool.

  • @pauldr44

Well the berlin wall was a war monument, it is a tiny bit different than isreali wall comrade.

  • This makes me proud to be a Communist!

  • 70s was the heyday of Soviet Union but probably 60s was the last time technology was comparable to the West. However, I must say that in Soviet Union they probably showed to you, Westerners, only the best things about the Soviet state. But in general, specially in 70s, life wasn't bad at all in SU... Problems started when country couldn't support itself any more in 80s and food shortages and other started

  • @lkrnpk Thank you, it is nice to hear from someone who actually lived through it.

  • @lkrnpk ya alot of the food shortages were because of too much aid to foreign communist states such as ethiopia and so forth

  • @lkrnpk Exactly like they only showed the home of a doctor and the capital. Maybe if they went further East we would see how most soviets lived.

  • @lkrnpk Blame Gorbachev. He's the fucker that wanted a free marked in USSR

  • @SMGJohn Borbachev wanted to addopt the Scandinavian style Social-Democracy, because it was better then Soviet Communism AND American Capitalism. The one to blame is Yeltzin, he splite the Union, and he brought Ultra-Capitalism to Russia and made it what it is today, a shadow of its former self.

  • @dave19941000 Scandinavian Social-Democracy is one of the best forms. However, only Sweden successed in it some how and Finland, Norway is corrupted to the core, with government stealing. USSR in order not to split up would have to have a stricter version of the scandinavian version.

  • @dave19941000 Gorbachev was not what he presented himself as. He scammed his way to the top and bascially threw open the doors to black marketeers through the 1988 Law on Co-operatives in order to enrich his friends. It was this law which led to the mass removal of resources from industries and institutions that had been allocated them through GOSPLAN.

  • @LoveMeLoveMyDog80 Gorbachev may not have been prefect, but considering the men who lead before him, as well as Yeltzin and Putin, he was probably the best leader Russia has had in the past 100 years.

  • @dave19941000 gj you get a douchebag award

  • @lkrnpk

    Khrushchev > Brezhnev

The USSR didn't collapse, it was hijacked by Yeltsin and his thugs. Yeltsin's only ambition was to become the leader, and he ruined Russia and former-Soviet states for it.

  • @lkrnpk if by "life wasn't bad at all" you mean that nobody starved, then yeah. but there were constant food shortages, chronic political and economic inefficiency, and complete lack of personal freedom throughout the entirety of the soviet union's existence.

  • @Fleishman322 dude shut your ignorant mouth, you know nothing about the reality at that time besides what youve been taught your capitalist propaganda, stupid ignorant fuck.

  • @Checkingokop my entire family is from moscow

  • @Fleishman322 so? ur saying ure proud?

  • @Checkingokop no, im saying that i know what im talking about.

  • @Fleishman322 who are you?

  • @lkrnpk 70s was the SUs peak, before 70s SU was out-performing the US in many aspects. I find it funny that even today US history professors at colleges teach to demonize SU and essentially Russia, and then they wander "why do Russians hate us?"

  • @pauldr44 problem is, it's a scientifically known fact that russian women like western men, so the wall was essentially built to save soviet women from their own lust

  • @DrDerpwerth Rwanda has it right. No government at all! Its a libertarian wonderland!

  • @juantrippe82

Rwanda is a presidential republic with legislative, executive and judicial branches of government.

  • @juantrippe82 Nope... Your thinking either of Somalia (which does technically have a government, just no one listens to it) or of Bir Tawil (a genuine terra nullius)

  • Life really grand when Poland was forced to construct Soviet ships, etc... while Soviets planned neighborhoods perfectly, but without any entrepreneurs to produce profits, the support of satelites' labor collapsed. A more TRUE Socialism exists in Scandinavia, where people vote.

  • @PADRAEG Actually most of the Scandinavian countries are technically use social democratic systems - i.e. an essentially capitalist system but with welfare nets and public services to try and mitigate the worst effects of it. Whilst these provisions are hard won concessions, and vital lifelines to many, you are still basically using band-aids to try and treat cancer.

  • Comment removed

  • @pauldr44 yes children were taken care off not like nowadays "capitalistic peace times" when there are 3 millions of homeless children in russia more than after the WWII.

  • The complexities of Soviet society and the Cold War are not something that can even be slightly explored within the 500 characters of YouTube comments. No one should even try.

  • @czarpeppers That is by far the most logical comment I have yet read here.

  • nice nuclear factory @ 1:29

really gives that neighborhood community feeling to it

  • where are the gulags? :):):)

  • @rvela64 That was 40s and 50s. All Stalin Era.

  • @rvela64 it's was gone to that time

  • My Dad's friends got their PhDs in USSR in 70s. Yeah, they told people were very nice and happy and slept with peace in their allocated apartments. I hope the homeless in US find some peace when they sleep in streets.

  • @pauldr44 The wall between the US and mexico is hardly complete. There are many places it doesn't exist, many places you can walk through it, and on the pacific coast you can simply walk around it.

  • Home of a Doctor! Doctors live well in ANY country under any systems.

  • Peaceful and enjoyable life in USSR compared to the stressful life in America filled with fat food and noise and dangourus living and high crime levels.

  • @SMGJohn and very inhumand workin rithm.

  • @Richard678 English?

  • there is no misery at ussr

  • pff you think this was the peak of socialism you should have seen Czechoslovakia in the 60s, we were one the most advanced countries and economies in Europe just until those pesky russians came in 1968

  • @pauldr44 The Berlin Wall was built by the Soviets to keep East Germans from emigrating en masse to West Germany, where life was substantially better. The "wall" on the US/Mexico border is intended to prevent ILLEGAL immigration into the US. If one is caught crossing the border illegally, he/she is detained, fed, given a medical checkup, and sent back home. If one was caught trying to escape the Soviet Sector by climbing the Berlin Wall, he/she was shot by an SKS-wielding guard in a tower.

  • @rotcbrad sure!! no doudt about the US/Mexico Wall. in a world with unicors!! you ass. u can talk about that stuff people is shoot to kill, and if they get caught is even worst. they put you in litlle cells, with more people that fits there, make you stay there for like 6 months (in the course of that time, they abouse and violated your humans right) But hey USA is our big Eagle God we can talk bad thing about her or we are going to hell.

  • Why the Berlin wall was built.....just look at what effect the western propaganda had on the people and the fact that USA was allways busy to bring the USSR to collapse

  • What I miss the most is that my parents could walk me to any clinic or hospital or dentist without appointments, references, insurance cards &all that noncence that I have been going through in all other capitalist countries. And OMG it was freee!Mom had 4 very complicated surgeries done for free.We didn't have to worry that she could be out of work so we would loose home, car or can't pay for school, medical &my future university because all was free!!

  • Wow i just took a couple of minutes to recall my home back in USSR Soviet Georgia. And yes we also lived outside the center on the capitol(in new Soviet blocks where all buildings looked the same:) My kindergarden was 2 min. from home,Russian school about 5 min,Georgian school 2min, medical clinic 5 min, apotheca 6min, gosh what else... grocery store 5-6 min, bus stop 3min, tram 2min,metro/subway 6min, police 6min, emergency/embulance 6min, library 10min.Wasn't too bad,in fact it was good!:))

  • @pauldr44 don't forget our other cold war mistake. Vietnam

  • @MrMeineNamen

I have never been in non of germany, but in estonia 57% people thinks, that soviet time was the life standard better than today or at least the same than nowadays, according to statistics. Beat that! =)

  • @maitsepolitsei fair enough but i think the case was different for soviet occupied territories. the problem with east germany was that it was a new generation and everyone was going to leave so they can start their own country again but the soviets decided to stay and a lot of families and resources were cut (the main reasons) really upset the east germans

  • True communism was very much like christianity. If it had been followed to the letter it would be heaven on earth.Read george Orwells Animal Farm.It portrays the reality.

  • Haha! A blue VW Beetle to give some color to the scene!

  • If it had been run less brutally and more like TRUE communism, it would have been a good place to work and live in

  • If it had been run less brutally and more like TRUE communism, it would have been a good place to work and live in

  • looks like military bases, infact all military bases are based on the communist model. AND THEY SAID IT NEVER WORKS, yet they rely on it

  • "Russian" and "Soviet" are interesting terms, because the Russian SFSR was established after 1922, and was a fraction of the territory of pre-1914 Imperial Russia. It is interesting to note, however, that the Borders of the Soviet Union (excepting Europe), were almost exactly the same as the borders of Imperial Russia, only subdivided into republics, but existing as one sovreign nation. That is where the west's confusion arose.

  • wow, looks like paradise. state planning aint so bad after all huh america. but i must ask, why was the berlin wall built if this was really how it was? or was there a dark side?

  • @Maetel22

To prevent Refugees fleeing to the West,Most of the Refugees escaped during

Stalin's Era,where Eastern Bloc states are Repressed and being Sovietized,

Why would some Refugees are considered to be a Great Loss to the Eastern Bloc ?

It's because most of the Refugees are Young Intelligent People's.

Soviet Union is a Paradise for common people,

Capitalist Countries are better for those who have potential,

    and able to be successful...

  • @Maetel22

History tell us the answer already. Giving up freedom and human rights for a well planned life is not what Human Beings asking for. We are not robot and we all want to be responsible for ourselves and make decision on our own.

  • @doublefieldli You are typical victim of propaganda, you should reconsider your views and take more points of view into account.

  • Comment removed

  • @Maetel22 The general rule IIRC was that in the West the population had so little money because there was always plenty to buy, whilst in the Commie bloc the population had money because there was so little to buy. People in the West on the whole were better paid than their eastern counterparts and had greater material freedom. The wall went up by E. Germany simply to stop a brain drain - where its skilled workers go West for what they consider much more flexible and liberal conditions.

  • @Maetel22 In my memories, yes there was a small "dark side" when it was about building the Berlin Wall. However it wasnt the planing of the Soviet Union if i remember right. I think it was East Germany themself. The wall was made to TRY and stop contact between east and west germany.

  • @Maetel22 No freedom, mind control and a lot of this sort of things. People don't live from bread alone. A friend from the former DDR said, life was not so bad, but just no real freedom, no fun.

  • @teresavivarium Really, today's life is very funny. 30% of all Eastern Germans became jobless at once.

  • @Maetel22 Because Gorbachev ruined it all, he is the most hated person in Russia

  • @Maetel22 Yes the west was, there was no cheap healthcare, the education was expensive, and the labor was exploitative, housing was sparse and expensive, food was short and democracy was neglected. in the East, no one owned private property... however they still enjoyed free healthcare, free education, exceptional housing, good wages, equal rights, and an amazing life guaranteed by the state.... there was even democratic elections under which any party could run (even Capitalists)

  • @Maetel22 if it wasnt so bad they wouldn't have collapsed and they would have managed to keep up in the level of westerns, their system was in fact worse.

  • @hilletehnoob

It wasn't bad at all.. The collapse was not because the system was bad, but because of bad decisions by some people and a lot of western "help" :-)

  • @MrPopular22 yeah sure, that's false, soviet union was to weak economically to follow USA progress but they keeped putting money on military anyway and taxes became unsustainable to people, people lived badly on soviet union last days and since the 70's,people got fed up and revolts started to appear everywhere,as soviet union was diverse ethnically divisionisms appeared, gorbachev choose not to send the military and kill millions and he prefered to let it go,it collapsed,it was to weak, get real.

  • @hilletehnoob

Bullshit. We had a completly different tax and income system to the west. The failure was initiated by severe bad decisions in the ruling class. The Afghanistan war, the decision to refuse necessary reforms and others.

But the life was not bad at all. it started to get bad at the very end of the Soviet Union and then everything wen on very quickly. Don't try to tell me about a life which you never lived please.

  • @MrPopular22 falacies, lost wars don't destroy a country, they are just sympthoms of a problem, the problems of soviet union to collapse were 4: it was totalitarian and people started importing a western mentality of freedom, democracy, secondly they had ethnic diversity and so divisionisms appeared when things got really bad and when they had a chance, thirdly the economy was a disaster, the economy was the ignition of all the problems, and at last, gorbachev was to human for a communist,he let it go.

  • I lived yhe life in Poland under commies and i would like to tell u that I think all commies should be hanged on the lamp posts. Dont tell me how sweet life was under secret polce and party rule. I remember that very well

  • @dantealighieriish And I lived in Indonesia under Suharto, so don't tell me how sweet life was under the secret police and corporate / capitalist sponsored military dictatorship. The capitalist state is good at sweet talking about "freedum and democracy", but the reality is if you don't have money you are completely and utterly expendable.

  • @dantealighieriish Well said. Commies want to force their sick, twisted, demented views on people who don't even agree with them. What's stopping you douchebags from go starting your own communes? What, it doesn't work? Go fuck yourselves, comrades.

  • @Rorschach65 Do you have any idea what the actual communism is or do you just believe all the propaganda you learned when you where younger?

  • @Maetel22

I agree, Berlin wall was bad. Red Army should have taken ALL of Germany.

  • @Maetel22 I don't see the relevance, since the Berlin Wall was in the GDR, not the USSR. It's like saying I don't like the way the Canadians treat Mexicans trying to cross the Rio Grande...

  • U must be joking. EastGermant was created and controlled by Soviets. That movie is so baloney i cant believue that u take it serious. U guys must be very young and naive.

  • @dantealighieriish I did not say I took the movie seriously, and it is not relevent to the point I made. I said that GDR =/= USSR, which is true. The fact it was part of the Soviet sphere of influence is irrelevent. Canada is part of the US sphere of influence, but Canda =/= USA

  • Most Russians I've met have told me that they lived better under communism.

  • @Shukria123

The reason why they suffer after dropping communism is that they have to rebuild the whole system of economy and that takes time. Also, political reform is not mature and that creates a lot of chaos during that period. This is the same case during a lot of different revolution, it takes time to get the society into a mature and stable status.

  • Cold war was one big mistake!

  • @mecidlo Yes, followed by two other big mistakes, the war on drugs and the war on terrorism.

  • @pauldr44 War on terrorism: USA trying to tell people that americans are fine by killing strangers.

  • @pauldr44 Don't forget the War on Want (Somalia) ;)

  • @mecidlo yeah, but so were most people XD

  • @mecidlo I think fear from both sides made both regions worst off. If they would have just left each other alone after WWII and focused on making civilian life better rather than armament and military expansion, the world would be a better place today.

  • It was unusual. We had an invitation from the Soviet Women's committee after women from the USSR had visited us in California.

  • i didnt know americans can go to russia at that tume
