I've been playing through a cheap 100w Fender Frontman for years, but the thing just lacks so much bass and depth that I really want a big upgrade now. I feel like getting a 50w combo, because 100w is totally not necesary, and I want a Marshall. What do you guys recommend? I want to spend up to 1000 euro on it.

@Brutalyeah buy any 100 Watt amp and just remove two of the four poweramp tubes. I don't know if this works for ANY amp but most of the 100 watt amps are using four poweramp tubes. And those are used as duets 1+4 and 2+3. And you just can remove the 1+4.

Dude, that makes no sense at all. Why would I buy an expansive 100 watt, and then remove stuff I bought to make it a 50 watt, while I can buy a cheaper 50 watt wich is good right on?! Listen, I dont need a super uber high and amp, anything with tubes is a very big improvement. Im easily satisfied, I want to keep it simple, and 50 watt. Can you recommend something else? Really GREAT amp. But still too loud for me atm so I will go for a Tubemeister. Anyway cheap+new is always a little bit difficult. The cheaper Randalls and the Marshall MA-series are quite good. If cheap means about 300 bucks you should visit the musicstore (cologne) and their Fame-amps.

@Brutalyeah you never experienced the difference between 50 and 100 watt ;) there is none. 50 watts aren't "half" as loud as 100. 10 (ten!) watts are "half" as loud as 100 watts. 50 watts are more power than you'll ever need. With the Statesman (60 Watts) and a 2x12 cab I could easily outrun any drummer if it comes to matters of volume. Check out the Carvin V3M! About 950 euros in germany, switchable power (7, 22, 55 watts), (great feature) - great tone
