  • Was it not Laurence Olivier (in a Radio Times interview) who said... 'The American accent is quite easy to achieve, one simply switches off one's brain and keeps talking talking talking' !!

  • Aaaah! It cuts off just before he answers the question and there is nothing that continues the interview! That's brutal! I really want to know!

I know he's gotta be sick of being asked about it, but it's just so incredibly good! He's a natural! I wouldn't think he would exactly laugh at a butchered British accent. He thought Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins was atrocious. Practically an act of war is how he put it.

  • James Lipton's "English" accent sounds as though it's three parts James Mason to one part Laurence Olivier - with slight overtones of constipation.

  • Hugh Laurie has to be so sick by now of people inquiring about his accent as House.

  • @dykesy30 There is no such thing as a British accent - it is either English, Scottish, Welsh or Irish, and there are scores of variations of each.

Hugh Laurie's own voice is so wonderful I couldn't bear to watch him using an American accent. He was born to be Bertie Wooster.

  • ROFL >.<

  • I will pay if anyone can find an interview of Hugh Laurie by an American that doesn't address his accent.

  • Where did he get it?!

  • @callumAS OH the SUSPENSE!!

  • hahaha that was the worst accent i have ever heard....

  • He sounds like Brent Spiner when he tries the British accent lol.

  • Help, i think i just died of laughter
