Sandra Lee talks about Wasabi: "This stuff is hot, hot. So be careful with it." Proceeds to put in a fat squeeze of Wasabi. Real Wasabi sends hellfire up your nose to your head and makes your scalp sweaty with just a dot. That's how you know her Wasabi's not the real deal. And what's with her haphazardly throwing these Asian ingredients together? Just because Teriyaki and Wasabi are both from Japan, doesn't necessarily mean they're good together.
Every episode of Sandra Lee's shows should have a disclaimer telling viewers not to try this at home! Because everything she makes is terrible. Don't waste food.
I can sit still and watch this woman make a mockery of any kind of traditional cuisine, but I CANNOT watch her turn AMERICAN FOOD into a mess like this... She should get an internship at McDonald's
oh my god this looks so good! I don't know why people hate on Sandra so much, I would eat any of her food. At least she doesn't expect us to go to a bread store in Paris to buy our bread...I'm looking at YOU, Ina Garten! Along with you denying a make-a-wish kid a chance to meet you and your too-fancy food!
I get that she wants to teach people how to use canned food but does she has to graduate from the culinary institute of America to do that? I mean, talk about a waste of money
I'm a vegetarian, but these actually look appetizing when compared to some of her other "food." I would probably go for more fresh ingredients and I probably wouldn't put pineapple juice in the burger (and I would use faux ground beef for myself), but it looks so good with the pineapple slice cooked right in!
youre not supposed to put too much pineapple in meat! or else the meat will me like.....meat mashed potatoes! trust me, i learned the hard way. not judging, just saying....i love sandra's show though
I actually think these burgers aren't SEMI-homemade. They're real, homemade burgers with the exception of the flavorings being totally crappy. Would it be too much trouble to chop an onion, wrap it in foil with a tiny bit of oil and let it cook on the grill for 5 mins and leave out the onion soup? How about just adding the salt, pepper, dried ginger and teriyaki as they are, not from a "nice little packet"? Sound good? Edible, even?
Sandy Lee actually almost manages to make sense on this one.
"Herp derp buying premixed packets of spices will save you time and money." - Skinny blonde lady who has literally never had to work or pay for things.
Thoughtful, but the quality sucks. Too salty, actually... Never EVER go with packaged seasoning from the factory.... most especially if you're already dumped salt and pepper in the meat. If you want onion flavor, just add some dried onion powder.... no-brainer. And if it were me, i'd grill the pineapples separately. Wasabi mayo? I've tried it before. You don't need soy sauce. If anything, the soy sauce should be in the burger when forming the patties.
"Mouthwatering, falling apart, tender, juicy and perfection!" Wuh? I didn't think "falling apart" is a good quality for burgers to have. Then again we didn't put pineapple Jews in our burgers when I was growing up, maybe that was our mistake.
You know, I think the flavours in this recipe actually have potential. It's more just a matter of using fresh(er) ingredients and combining them better (like not dredging the works in pure sodium beforehand). Maybe I'll tweak it a bit and give it a try :)
I was really hungry for the past hour and after watching this, I don't feel so hungry anymore. My stomach hurts a lot. Be right back, about to puke in the toilet.
you guys should actually try her recipes, they are surprisingly good! I find her show entertaining and watch it for its comedic value. Oh, her recipes are not bad either!
@KWalsh554 Well, I'm not American so I did know that Americans eat very unhealthily, which includes using too much salt, but last week there was actual, accurate research data in a local newspaper that confirmed they use 3 x as much salt as recommended...so no, I don't live under a rock, I was just making a point of Sandra Lee showing the wrong kind of example and not making an effort to show how to get flavor in your food without all the salt.
Salt, onion soup mix AND marinade mix? What a way to O.D. on salt (and MSG, but who's counting?). I just read in the news that Americans consume way too much salt, and Sandra Lee is giving the health officials a run for their money...crazy stuff.
Can someone please explain to this woman that buying flavour packets (seriously, FN? This is the best you can do?) is NOT cheaper than buying spices! Spices don't come in individual serving packets, you can keep using them over and over! GAH!!!
why would u feed children anything with wasabi sauce in it?why does she have a show?i could burn this food and it would look more mouth watering than what she presents.sorry Sandra Lee but u are tryin to hard.
this would be delicious if she didn't get everything in the recipe from fucking k-mart. stop it with the mixes and blends and nasty shit and cook something real you nasty honkey
The other side of the burger cooks by boiling in the juices of that pineapple ring. Very nice. And the flavorings she puts in the meat..?! Filled with MSG and other delicious ingredients. Perrrrffectionn!
And what was that "Oohh yeah"-sound she made close to the end?? Attempting to flirt with the camera like Nigella Lawson does? Sorry Sandra, you just sounded like a porn star at work.
