  • The joys of youtube it takes me back to when times were good

  • This show kicked ASS!!!I and it reminded me of Blakes 7! it didn't hold back on killing off characters you liked!! and the final episode was crazy! I can't remember clearly but didn't some of the main characters get killed off, abit of a shock

  • got them all on my hard drive. first saw them in 1981 then again in 1988 and again in 1995, every time i missed the last episode so i downloaded the bloody lot just to see the last one (what happened to lamia), that was in 2001. i still have them and now my nephew likes to watch them. the only think was i could never get my hands on the x-bomber model.pity

PUT THIS BACK ON SATURDAYS MORNINGS AGAIN ....PLEASE...

  • @rapidrolf ur absolutely right m8, this is infinitely better than the mindless drivel nowadays, so cuuute - like thunderbirds, but a million times better

  • project X?

  • Awesome, favorite for me! The theme for the Imperial Allience was so awesome.. I even have the whole series in a DVD box; when I learned it was out it was a no brainer for me. I saw this series during the period "super channel" was active in Holland and I really stayed at home for it.

  • By your divine guidance!

  • You can now buy this Opening theme and the rest of the brand new Original Soundtrack (including the awesome Closing Theme Song) by original composer, Paul Bliss direct from the producer at starfleetsoundtrack(dot)com -- we'll have the full website up soon...

  • Man saturday mornings were Star Fleet!!!!!!Not seen this for about 20 odd years!!

  • @odsall You're right there!

  • @odsall i wish they would put this back on saturday mornings again, it would give me an excuse for not going shopping with the Mrs.

  • Man, I haven't seen this in years!!! I think it was No73 that used to show it. Great post :-D

  • Think i agree with BoogieKnight 1976. The puppets were far better than Terrahawks by a mile or anything else at that time. I know it was shown on a Saturday show, cant remember if it was Tiswas or No 73?

  • This was certainly the best puppet show for me back in the 80s everything just looked so much better than the rest.

  • @BoogieKnight1976 What, even "Pigs in Space"!?

  • goosebumps watching that. Fond memories.

  • For 30 yrs i been looking for this and i can`t get it anywhere..!!!!

  • @MPT002 Its on DVD in the UK search Amazon

  • the 5 people who didn't like this u have no life this was and still is pure class

  • Got the Box Dvd Set going to Educate the Kids Bahahaha! LOL! :)

  • this was one of my faves in the 80`s. now i managed to get the box set on dvd and watching it now. oh it brings back memories

  • So, did the bad guys have their own giant robots and/or monsters for the good guys' giant robot to fight each episode?

  • @rocketprime Actually, no. The bad guys only had small fighters and occasionnally tanks, and as a result had their ass regularly handed to them by the heroe's giant robot. The robot, however, isn't used that often, and Star Fleet is more of a space combat based series.

  • I forgot about this show until there was a reference to it in the movie Insidious.

  • I loved this show as a kid!!

  • Great TV series. Really enjoyed this when I was a kid.

  • Dai X is there most powerful weapon

  • I loved this when I was a kid. We had the best kids programmes in the 80's. The ones these days are a load of crap.

  • Go Nagai (the original creator) might not be Simon Cowell or James bons bu THIS is worth of a repeat on ITV1 on a Saturday afternoon.

  • @VANHELSING433 Simon Cowell is a fag

  • @3LeeJennings3

By rejecting some people he might actually be doing them a favour but on the other hand, we didn't hear much about Michelle Mcmanus and what happened to One True Voice?

  • Classic.

I have the Brian May 12" single.

  • we had some good tv when we was young, this, terrahawks, battle of the planets etc, kids now a days have nothing but crap, theres not even a decent saturday morning show on now, at least we got the likes of tiswas,swapshop......ah the good old days

  • Im sure Im not the first to say, but I'd always remembered this show but not the name.. Good work fella!!! This was my all time fav on Saturday morning.

I think it was about 8am Star fleet, 8.30am was the original superman tv show, and the 9am was time for spiderman.

And all my kids have is the same old disney shit and spongebob!!

  • such classic stuff and what do kids get to watch nowadays sponge f'ing bob & Bob the f'ing builder along with other total crap , no wonder kids today are going mental, back then we had some well cool stuff

  • i didn't know this show was creation of Go Nagai until now.

  • Why is this deteriating in Granada TV's archives?

  • Doesn't Barry Hercules remind you of the black guy in Thunderbirds 2086?

  • @VANHELSING433 Sure does, well spotted!

  • I do not know this series and so I can not give a definite opinion.

Given this short movie, I think it's a nice product.

I would see him very happy.

I believe that Italy was never sent.

The style is similar to the serials of G. Anderson + japanes series.

    Mix interesting.

  • god this brings back memories

  • japanese+robots=win

  • This is easily one of the best live action marionette science fiction title scenes I've seen all day, and I'm not just saying that.

  • Yeah F-01 was Lamia

  • Brian may of Queen fame did a Starfleet tribute album :) true, honestly.

  • Just like terrahawks!! Loved them both, think zelda from terrahawks looks like shirley from eastenders

  • hahahaha omg ive just wet myself... shirley from eastenders.. i wont be able to watch eastenders now.... funny though

  • Was it ever revealed who/what F-01 is?

  • For about 2 months, this was the biggest show in the whole world....

  • The whole series is out now on dvd its been remasterd and looks good. I cant believe how many people rememeber this show. It kind of disapeared and I always wounderd what happended to it and why it only had 1 season.

  • got the cd now in mp3 on my phone for ringtone.

  • Can I have it

  • I used to love watching this on saturday mornings ! Now who does that Barry Hercules remind me of ? some actor mmmph.

  • Could that be the late Steve James?

  • @hartnell How about Billy Dee Williams, AKA Lando Calrissian?!

  • just got the theme and song on cd fantastic !!!

    in proper stereo!!

  • Is the music CD out for this yet? I'd love to here this, all those tunes bring you right back to your childhood.....

    Let me know, thanks.

  • yes it's out ,i have it and it's great, it's a bit expensive nearly £17 including post. but i guess you could download it or blag one of someone.

  • Is this the truth? Because I cant see it anywhere (Amazon, Ebay....?)

If you have the tracks any chance you could exchange with me? I have Devilman, Phoenix 2772 and Animalympics soundtracks if you want some stuff like that.

    Let me know.

  • And for roughly one minute and nine seconds i don`t feel old. :D

  • Very interesting

  • Holee Shit.I remember this.

  • Barry Hercules= cool motherfucker

  • Ha ha, i remember this & thought it was ace! Remember a ship called the skull, i think, which always seemed to get beat up & bail out of the action. Also making X fighters out of lego.

  • as gud as g-fouce

  • that's a mean afro barry

  • ive been searching everywhere for this. forgot the title but thank god to the internets i finally found it

  • god i had this on video but i left it at someones house so many years ago now i was 4 then now i am 13

    lol times change

  • I remember this back in late 70s/early 80s and there was another similar type of sci-fi puppet show on each week. can't remember...

  • I hope we never forget this tv series. Because we grown up for this series as we getting old :-(

  • For years i've been trying to remember what this series was called because I absolutely loved it back in 83 when i first saw it. It was the first video i ever saw on our then brand new Betamax video! Thanks for binging that back 27 years just vanished for 1m 10s

  • I got hold of the series, from RareTV.

Then a year later they released it on DVD...

  • commander macara's ship looks like thunderbird 2

  • You've got to love the Afro on the African American puppet!

  • I used to love this programme, it's years since I've seen it... I want to be 8 years old again! ;)

  • Has anyone else noticed the similarities between this and Lylat Wars on the N64?

  • I watch this on the beta max here in the Philippines back in the 80's. Then they air on GMA 7 right after loving in yours heleen back in the 90's. Then after that they air on city net 27 back in 1995 to 1996. Is the 1st time they air in the Philippines. But they amaze of this puppets from Japan. I hope Filipinos to remake of this. But chose ABS-CBN to make a remake of this. If this one will air on Hero tv. They going to dub in Filipino

  • yeah.. makes me remember of the good ol sunday afternoon..

  • this has to be one of my favourite shows from when i was a kid, it was awesome..

  • ooooo-ooooh! Only they can save us! Star Fleet! Star Fleet!

Growing up in Trinidad WI, no one dared bother us when Star Fleet came on the tele. The awesome sound track has always stayed with me.The 80's really rocked with sci-fi shows. Thanks for posting!

  • Currently 23 quid on Amazon.

  • loved it as a kid.

lol at the PC with the chink, ginge, and black :P

  • this was my fave programme when i was a kid, this is probably why i got into manga and anime so much. awsome show.

  • I remember this from when I was a kid. Cool!

  • Oh yes! Loved this. Couldn't miss an episode.

  • fantastic!!!!! i,m young again. cheers mate

  • *HUGE GRIN* I do not BELIEVE this! I used to LOVE this back when I was a kid! I NEVER IMAGINED i would see it again ! To the uploader:

    THANK YOU!!!!

  • Louie Anderson is a part of the crew....excellent.

  • love the Brian May cover

  • Tenner at HMV now :)

  • After all these years LOL!

  • serious? im going down there 2mrow. this is something i never imagined would be remembered or released. cool

  • Barry Hercules = god

  • When does the song come in? Was that the closing credits?

  • For a while, I thought that I had dreamt this show up when I was a kid.

Brings back memories. Thanks for the posting.

  • Geez, I am getting this confused with Terrahawks - gettin old!

  • the design of that ship was something else.. I remember there was some sort of laser cannon between the 'neck' and the body of the ship.. never really got to finish watching the whole series though. LOL!

  • great! Hardly anyone seems to remember this. But, dont think I'l be getting the dvd set. Bit too kiddy for me now.

  • does anyone knw how to get a list of all eps on you tube i try search all i get is star trek

  • Wow Great show.

Watched it when I was a child =)

Back then I thought Lamia was cute lol

  • Think yourself lucky - I always fancied Commander Makara!!!!

  • That's disturbing - after digging out a few clips on YouTube I've found the same thing!

  • If you still hold a candle then Claudia Winkleman is your girl. She's a dead ringer

  • beast of a show, hardley anyone remembers it, the 80's, the best fucking decade ever. power rangers can suck shit!!!

  • Me sister used to talk about how I cried when this show finished. No wonder though, it's the TRUTH!

  • Pure class...peed all over terrahawks!

  • The DVD Boxed set is brilliant. This show is as good now as it was twenty years ago.

You should ALL go out and buy it at once!

  • Will get it... but not from HMV at £40! Does the DVD have Brian May's cover version of the intro as an extra? That would be ultimate awesomeness!

  • Hey there

Actually, I was SOOO disappointed with the boxed set. The story is rubbish and there are TWO clip format episodes right in the middle of the series.

It wasn't nearly as good as I thought it would be :(

But still, fantastic for retro value and seeing the Dai X doing its stuff!

  • £29 on Play

  • I would love to get a copy of the DVD box. I miss watching Star Fleet when my dad was stationed at RAF Fairford from 1983-1987. Always watched ITV all the time and Sunday Afternoons were no different with Terrahawks/Star Fleet/Captain Scarlet. Often went to church in the morning in Carterton and then watched TV before doing anything else like go to the air base or whatnot.

  • It's available now from "all good retailers"! In the UK...

  • The only problem is I live in US. GRRR lol

  • imports are GOOOOOD

  • I used to watch this in 1982 -1984 when my dad was at RAF Scampton and RAF Brize Norton.

  • Carterton was just outside of Brize Norton. I lived in the area from 1983-1987

  • Yep, I remember living there. Oh the nostalgia!

  • @jason12901

ha funny ! small world !

I loved this as a kid ! could'nt wait for Saturday mornings 9.30/10.00

was the next best thing to Star Wars !

And in them days, I was living in Carterton too ! RAF dad !

My most fave kids TV programme of all time ! love it ! everything about it !

  • @WindyMillarUK

Brize Norton was he? Mine worked in Fairford.

  • @jason12901

    What a nice coincidence.

I had actually just left Carterton when this started,

and my Dad was in the RAF at the time too.

Keep thinking about getting the box-set myself.

  • @RmB303 Ha, my dad was at Brize and we were living in Carterton when this was on as well! That and Battle of the Planets/G-Force at roughly the same time.... happy days!

  • my copy has been sent!

  • Not long now...Feb 9th, 4 Dvd box set released!!

  • I sure do hope so. They set a release date last time for Jan 19th and before that it was 9th Sept '08. I hope they don't change it again or I'll probably explode!

  • wow nostalgia

  • I remember seeing this on Fun Factory on Sky Channel back in 82 :-)

  • I've just pre-ordered this off Amazon.

  • This was the best SF puppet series ever! The DVD and a seperate sound track CD release (the original Paul Bliss score and THIS title music) is coming out next year - going to be a great year for STAR FLEET!

  • this was so cool and it was replaced with the crappy terrahawks and the stupids naughts and crosses rubbish at the end WTF.. where did this go???

  • wow i loved this programe. reminds me of saturdays on the sofa!!

  • I love Starfleet, especially Commander Makara. The show itself is great, so is the theme-tune. But I slightly prefer Terrahawks, because the Zeroids are cuter than PPA, and Yung-Star is cuter than Captain Orion.

  • i miss this show, finally i've seen it again for almost 13yrs

  • Japans attempt at thumderbirds and terrahawks

  • just for info sake..its was paul bliss who dont the music to this not brian ...cheers peeps

  • i have just goen back in time..i really am 11 again...loved this back then..great post

  • lol space pilot jon lee looks a total geek whi invented him but i remember a character with the alliance who was 1ce a good guy but he turned bad does anyone know who the charcter was ?

  • That was Captain Carter. DVD coming out in January...

  • DVD coming out in January...bet i buy it first!!!

  • Gracias Totales!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks a lot! This video make me travel 20 years in the past. No kidding.

In spanish the name of the series was Flota Espacial, it was a great success in Argentina and Uruguay also.

  • Childhood memories. You can't beat them. If only they made them like that now.

  • Yeah I totally agree, they should make more puppet shows like this, maybe all us 80's fans should start a campaign to bring back puppet shows, cos t.v these days is SHIT

  • And yet I think Brian May's floating head would of been more appropriate for this opening theme. xD

  • Agreed classic 80's TV

Who remembers space Ghost & Galaxy High ?

  • i loved this show am i wright in saying it was on saturday mornings on ITV?

  • Wow, really takes me back! Defo going to look for the dvd.

  • One of the best kids TV shows of the 80s. Space pilot John Lee hilarious and Orion the dimwit! Boxset DVD out in 2 weeks!

  • kids programs were more violent in the 80s but we didnt go round stabbin each other

  • maybe thats part of the problem that the kids aren't getting their cut of violence on tv so going out and making their own. A sad and contravercial theory but perhaps true???

  • a team, airwolf, blue thunder, automan, manimal, streethawk, fallguy, nightrider all had bad guys pointin guns and killig somebody. captain scarlet had some poor sod being killed every episode in a road traffic accident.

  • I've just read people claiming exactly the opposite in another cartoon's intro video, so that doesn't seem that consensual.

  • its been amazing to see this again along with lion voltron and terrahawks....ive tried in vein to find dvd's of all 3-loads of childhood memories...but dont you think it was a bit dark and scary for 5 year olds to watch???

  • I can see this being made into a film - Shia LaBeouf as Hagen, Jack Black/Sean Asten as Lee and Samual.L Jackson as Hercules

Fantastic to see this all over again. Bruings back good memories of when I was young watching this show. I will certainly be getting this on dvd.

  • that would be cool... but mildly disturbing

  • so who would be dr ben?? but I can see Natalie Portman or Anne Hathaway as Llamia and Jack Black as Kirara!!

  • Liam Neeson or John Hurt would make a good Dr Ben.

  • havn't seen or thought about this show in over 25 years but seein this brought it floodin back, best kids show ever.

  • OMG it's been a while since i have seen this!

  • lol i never could remember what program that dai-x robot thingy was off...until now ;D

Used to be on Good Morning Britain or something like!

  • Hard to believe this show was the handiwork of Go Nagai, the same guy who created Mazinger Z.

  • This series is coming to DVD i believe in september i never saw it before i came to youtube but i think it looks great but then again i am a diehard Fanderson i know this is not a Gerry Anderson production but it looks great

  • I remember this. I was a sickly child and kept getting bad athsma attack as a kid. I had a few nasty ones and I remember seeing this when I was in the middle of a bad attack and was feeling quite awful. I remember feeling nauseous at the site of the creepy puppets. It was cool though.

  • Is this quote used in this series?

The turning of the stars bring a time when my secret can give you immortality. But when that time has past, those fleeting minutes gone. The secret is worthless. Until once again the stars unlock it's power.

I heard it was on the first dubbed episode of X Bombers, but I can't find any clips to double check and see if that is true. Would you mind telling me if it's true or not?

  • I don't believe this is in the series. There is a key point in time in the series where a one-off event can happen, but it wouldn't fit this phrase. This sounds like a planetary junction kind of thing, like in the Dark Crystal, but it wouldn't fit for that either...

  • Alright. Thank you. :)

  • any-one also into TERRAHAWKS?

  • barry hercules,you rock brother

  • Here's an idea: Live action movie, with Samuel L. Jackson as barry. "I'm Barry Hercules, MUTHA******!

  • omg.

I felt like strangling someone when this came on.

It was always on a Sunday and always long.

    Disastrous.

  • so at 00:37 we have tom Cruise, 00:39 Sam from LOTR and at 00:41 Samuel L Jackson... an all star cast methinks ;)

  • Ha ha ha I think you are right. And to see them now you would never think their careers started here. hahahhaha

  • "Which is your spaceship?" - "That one which says bad m*therfucker!" *vvbg*

  • OMG.. that grey hairy chap at the start is KENNY ROGERS aint it lol!!!

    brill show

  • This was the highlight of my childhood tv viewing and none of my mates remember it!!

  • omg! same here! i was beggining to think i dreamed the whole thing up!!! this brought back so many memories, i must have been about 5 or 6 when this was on which is why my memories seem a bit faded! thank you Youtube!!!!!!!!

  • Same here. I have tried to remember the name of this programme for years, I was around 3 or 4 when it was on.

  • the weirdest looking space pilot's i have ever seen

  • boy these were the days

  • Are the dvds def coming out????
