Thanks, and wow i had a fun time searching for that video before i found the search bar :)Nice videos BTW, and when you said its less reliable which dazzle do you have?(meaning rev)because it has built in Mpeg 2 hardware encoding so if it lags that may be a problem on pinnacles side, you shouldn't have to suffer, but thanks for the heads up.. Im just starting to do screen caps, and im making them better and better, but i haven't recorded any in Mpeg - 2 yet, ill test for the drop in Frame rates.

I noticed the file size is much bigger in MP4. That normally wouldn't matter to me but my internet is crap and has trouble uploading larger file sizes. Would it decrease the video quality any if I converted to WMV?

Yes it will decrease quality, but I recommend .wmv if you have a slow Internet connection. In fact, it shaves off over 80mb's from mpeg4 to .wmv

Then you will not be able to use the Main Concept Mpeg4 Custom Settings. Instead you will have to use WMV9. Your quality will not look as good as Mpeg4, but the MB's will be reduced which is a good thing.

left 4 dead wallpaper from deviant art. monster s cables from amazon. mpeg 4 issue is because I am using sony vegas pro 8, which is what the video is for. so make sure your using sony vegas pro 8.

Black bars on top and bottom is how I like it; letter box. If you don't want letter box, use 640 x 360 with no zoom/ pan in crop. You'll also have to tweak the render settings from 800 x 410 to 640 x 360.

Same problem for me. I'm thinking that currently YouTube doesn't support .MP4 videos with the HQ button or else there is a problem on their end. I'd like some clarification on this, as manually setting HQ on the URL bar makes the video worse than with it off.

as of right now, all HQ videos will not show the HQ button but the quality is still in high quality. You can immediately tell by the clarity and sound. NQ sounds like doo doo, while HQ sounds pretty nice. So yeah, don't be alarmed that the HQ button doesn't show up. Just watch the video and see if it looks and sounds good.

Then your doing something wrong then because I have over 50 videos using these settings. Double check that you are using MAIN CONCEPT AAC mpeg 4 or something of that nature. And make sure you always press "File > New" before starting a new project. Sometimes opening Sony Vegas right away uses old settings from the previous project and not the new settings.

why do record in studio with an aspect ratio of 4:3 then stretch it in vegas? surely it would be better to record in studio with a ratio of 16:9 and then clip out the little black lines in vegas? right? im curious to know how different things need to be when recording with s-video instead of composite

It may seem that that the video is stretched when in it's default state, but when you post on YouTube, the screen adjusts and looks "normal" and unstretched.

With the 800 x 416 ratio, it's side effect is that it creates my videos in letter box for me without doing any adjustments on SV.

It's like watching a video on Winamp and dragging the screen size; you'll see where it adjusts depending on your videos ratio.

And s-video just increases clarity, but worth it if you can invest the $.

who ever said you recorded with Sony Vegas lol? Sony Vegas is a EDITING program primarily when using a Dazzle DVC 170. You record with Pinnacle Studio 10 like the video said, then once your done recording that video, head on over to SV to re-render it to the settings in the video.

Rendering depends how strong your CPU is. A 5 min vid will render in 20min for me, so yeah. And what you mean by "regular" width settings?!?

If you mean default, then it's 720x480 Which DOES NOT fill up youtubes player creating black spaces on the side of videos.

800x416 is great, and 800x432 also works.
