A very good video. i can't believe that many people don't know where electricity comes from. im from England and we were definitely taught that in school.
There are some problems with electric cars. Materials for storage batterries or super capacitors are harmfull to the environment and realy hard to recycle.
There is a trouble with high voltage parts insulation.
But I can name a lot of advantages in comparison with combustion engien powered cars ass well, especially better traction abbilities because the torque is really high from the lowest revolutions and sometimes it is not necessary to use any gear.
@fricik1987 Yeah I think lithium is promising but when you look at how much it takes to mine enough for one car the environmental argument goes to shit, cleaner air in the cities yes, total impact no. Hydrogen is better even if we burn it using combustion engines, once CO2 is cleared as a pollutant and we figure out how to extract hydrogen cost effectively. I know everyone is like what about fuel cells but the materials are to exotic same as copper in the the electric motors where will we get it
I totally agree with you, I only wanted to tell, that it is another way and that it has advantages as well as disadvantages which are not so clearly visible for some people. I cannot tell if it is better o worse way than using combustion engines. By the way if we are tallking about efficiency of energy transformation it is draw.
It is still far away in the future, look at the price of hydrogenius car prototypes. I don´t know the numbers but it is in milions of dollars. I know, mass production decrese costs but I am sure that still not enough Maybe one day it will be best power source, but not now.
Glad to see someone make the point that electricity does not magically come from an outlet. Electric cars are ok, if they get the distance and battery recharge times figured out but without cleaner electricity what would be the point.
It's obvious that the people running the show re:(world) that is, have a lot invested in oil and probably make so much money, why on earth would they shoot themselves in the foot and make electric vehicles? It's all about the money .
I don't know about recharging in less than 1 minute, but Phoenix Motorcars use special Lithium Titanate battery that can travel over 100 miles on a only a ten minute charge. These battery will also outlive all other types of Lithium too. It comes supplied with a 250kw charger for that!!!!!
Maybe Lithium Titante battery for a LeMans racing car? Even if it didn't win it would still be interesting...
Electric cars are awesome cause the have max torque at 0 rpm and are just unbelievable the only downside is they cost a Hundred thousand dollars. and you can buy a cheap evo and tune it and it would obliterate that car in every aspect except emissions and cost you about 40k.
In future we all gonna get hydrogen fuel cells for all our electrical needs and for our transport needs. Imagine the technology clean and no harmful waste products for our environment.Maybe a combo of fuel and solar cell. The technology is already in progress but it is very costly but in early 40's one of those ENIAC computer seems unviable but 60 years on, everyone got a PC googling earth and storing terabytes on HDD.This is positive technological advancement that might actually save the planet
@kelv708 Where the hell do we get hydrogen from!? You need an electrical power station to produce power to convert hydrocarbons or electrolise water to produce hydrogen. Biologically produced hydrogen is out of the question too. There is too much wasted energy to produce hydrogen. That energy is better just pumped directly into a battery of a car rather than have an intermediary fuel.
Electric cars aren't necessarily environmentally friendly but they are drastically more efficient than gas cars.
Absolutely right! Corporate industry is the single biggest obstacle to technological advancement, efficiency, environmental sustainability, and socio-political stability. Tesla was designing radio-controlled electric transportation BEFORE the twentieth century; Westinghouse and Edison corporations both inhibited his development of the technology. Edison was good buddies with the Ford family, who felt that any competing forms of transportation (no matter how superior) threatened profits.
oh and i just filled up my car and it costed me 80 dollars.... so dont tell me people think electric cars arent as good as hybrids... electric cars are 30 percent more efficient and if you have solar panels that power your home, your godly, free electricity to power your car and you can send money back to the grid and they send you money for the electricity youve produced
Lol, 30 percent? More like 60% more efficient! The average gas motor is only about 25% efficient + transmission lossed = tops 15-20% overall efficiency! The overall efficiency of an electric car is about 80% on average.
Sorry, I meant 300% more efficient, since three times more efficient means 300% more efficient :) So, the average electric car is 3 times (!) or 300% more efficient than an average gas car.
haha i destroyed this ffin ignorant kid in one of my classes that thought electric cars werent fast... electric and compressed air cars are the way to go.. and yeah that race was legit they are extreemly fast. Gagnarli87 is prolly some 8 year old that obviously doesnt know about weight distrobution and how powerful electric engines are.. educate yourselves people!!
elrtric cars should aim at low power consume not hig performance (the fake ferrari & porch race is ridicoluos, the porch driver was probably a monkey or a well payed guy...)
the smartest ideas are hybrid by now... but pure elettric car today isn't a good busyness...
yes but they did not say that they spend 80K on the solar panel which will never pay off, also they will have to replace the panel in 15-25 yrs. pwned!
THey will never build a 100 mile by 100 mile solar power plant. Its just PR! to keep you happy until every drop of oil is pumped out of the earths crust. Then its on to the next most profitable form of energy, be it clean or not!
Yea but you'll have to admit, concerning market forces, solar is getting cheaper while fossil fuel attainment/refinment is getting more expensive, when those inclining and declining graphs intersect, bye bye fossil fuels.
I hate to say but Solar has a huge down side that everyone seems to avoid mentioning. It only generates peak power for 4 hours out of every 24. That's only 16% of each day.
it's the oil companies.but not only that, once oils gone, jobs will drop.prices on other things will go up,yep you guessed it.solar panels, since someone has to make them the oil company will take over the industry.just a theory
I've been building an electric car since I was a senior in high school. Money's always been the limiting factor. Now that I have a Bachelors in electrical engineering I can find a job and actually have money to finish the damned thing. Looking at 0-60 mph in under 6 seconds, a top speed of 140 mph, and ~100 miles range at 65 mph on lead acid batteries and a Netgain 9" series wound DC motor.
this looks suspiciously like an ariel atom

The Oil companies are trying their best to stop free energy ideas from spreading to common ppl.
We need to put an end to this corruption ,start generating your own electricity now.
