But, it did take Cadillac many years to make a car that will even compete with an M5, whilst it is has (roughly) the dimensions of an M3. Do you recall how crap the first CTS-V was? Even after that, it was 4 years after the E60 M5 was released that the new CTS-V was. Also, I cannot purchase a CTS-V/ZR-1/etc in New Zealand, nor do any of those provide the level of comfort AND performance an M5 does.

Also caddy has not taken "many years" to compete with the M, how long has the M series cars been around vs caddys V badged vehicles? They are both great cars but I just don't see what warrants such a high price on the m series

@raptorlp03 BMW M was established in 1972, with the first BMW M vehicle, the M1, being released in 1978. My point with taking 4 years after the E60 M5's release to produce a "better" car, and marginally at that, was that it is a long time in comparison to a model's total years being manufactured.

Also, the American Motor Vehicle market is heavily subsidised in regards to German vehicles. You would pay bout 90k US for a new F10 M5, I would pay over 200k US for an equivalent vehicle.

I admit it would be a difficult choice if there was no domestic brand in the country I lived in and prices were very similar so I can understand why the Caddy isn't as appealing for you. It would be a tough choice without the price gap for me as well, though I'm a bit of pushrod fanatic so that would probably sway me back to the cad haha

@1ownjoo2 I agree with you man. The new Jeeps don't look that nice and have wayyy too much plastic on them. I recently bought a 2004 Overland with the 4.7L HO engine. That thing is a rocket and the quality of the older Jeeps (93-04) is great. I was in the market for either a 98 5.9 or a 02-04 Overland with the HO motor. I ended up going with the 04. I'm a huge fan of the older Jeeps. The V8's have so much torque and really get the truck moving quickly. Good luck with your 5.9

Yep, before i got the 5.9 i actually bought a 02 Limited with the 4.7 HO, however the same day electrical problems started happening and, the A/C didnt work right. (this was before i knew about the blend door problem on these WJ's) so we returned it got our money back and bought the 5.9 instead.

@1ownjoo2 Well that's odd. I've had 2 other WJs and that never happened to them. Jeeps are known for some eletrical problems but I've never experience any of them. I just love the 4.7 HO. So much torque and passing power. Mustangs don't expect it. My friend has a 99 GT and I raced him. Lets just say the 4.7 held it's own and then some. Very reliable engine too

Forgot to mention the 4.7 and the 5.9 are pretty much the same in specs. Actually sounded the same almost too from what i remember when i had it. I belive your 4.7ho is 265hp,330lbs torque. The 5.9 is 245hp and 345 lbs torque..

The best thing i love about the speed/torque on the Jeep is when im at a stop light and im the guy in the front, i just love pressing the gas pedal a little bit and within like 6 seconds im like quarter of a mile away from everyone else lol

@1ownjoo2 Yup, specs are about the same. It's so much fun taking small gaps. And you know throttle responce is almost instant with the Jeeps. Just tap the gas and you head snaps back a little. I added a Jet chip and Flowmaster super 10 to the 4.7 and it's a beast.

I think the main difference between them is the gas mileage on mine is less, im only getting like 12-13mpg in the city lol and i need to use at least 89-93 fuel to keep the engine from pinging. Check out my channle i made a few video's if the 5.9.

actually a rear wheel drive setup is best for a drag (which this is)
