The problem is that an atheist is perfectly happy to accept he/she is wrong provided it can be proven. Believers will never entertain the notion that they are wrong because it undermines the core of their belief - faith. Each think the other's mind if closed.
The true evil is brainwashing children from an early age. It is important to allow children to make their minds up for themselves. This fears both sides and each attempt to influence.
@TiaraAlonso I am guessing you know everything, but no what a real statement is. What you said made no aparent sence. If they could choose there religion's then why do you say there is no god, what I see is you trying to brain wash kids on here. Proving you to be a huge ass hyprocrite, but you of course would deny anything since you think you're so smart, if so, why are you on the internet? Shouldnt you acutally go somewhere were Atheist are needed like a rally against weed.
I think you're right about the average Christian, but its those nonaverage Christians that worry me. If you want to look at the real statistics, the average Christian doesn't go to church(over 60%), hasn't read his bible (over 90%), doesn't tithe or support their church (80%), and can't list all ten commandments (70%). The average Christian is so watered-down that they might as well be an atheist.
See, it's not about intend. It's about letting people believe what they want. It's about thinking of others being as stupid and you smart because 'you have the right answer and others don't'. THAT'S one of the two main problems I have with christians. The 'I know better than you' attitude, while their views have no basis. The other main problem I hate is how christians try to impose their views on others through law and saying they're discriminated against.
let's not sugar coat things shall we? Most christians do indeed truly believe that their side is right. But that's the problem. They are so adamant that their side is right and that everyone should join them. While their beliefs don't have any real basis. That's like a neo nazi coming to your door, shouting in front of your supermarket, handing out pamphlets, all to get you to believe as they do because they genuinely believe they're right.
Amen. I'd say that the average outspoken atheist doesn't engage in the theist/atheist debate. In the USA, I'd say that the average atheist gets hurt a lot by theists for not drinking the Kool-Aid. I've been disinherited, kicked out of a wedding party, disinvited to social groups, and I've lost many relationships the moment the other party found out that I was an atheist.
I'd say that the average outspoken atheist is just trying to make atheism acceptable.
It doesn't matter what their intentions are. These are DELUSIONAL people. If you went into a mental hospital and a bunch of inmates wanted you to sit in on a circle jerk to feel good, would you think they were just trying to help you? From THEIR perspective they might - but as a SANE person, you need to rise above such idiocy and either teach them to do something more constructive with their time, or just leave them to their own insanity. Your responsibility is to be sane in a world of idiots.
Jesus is the only way to peace with God. We have sinned and fallen away from God. God commands us to Lvoe each other and seek him while we can. God is real and so is the first begotten of the Dead, Jesus the Messiah.Godbless you and your family.
@doobersmanster God doesn't command us to love each he commands us to kill each which Jesus backs up. I will not kill my child because he was disobediant. I wouldn't kill my wife if she wasn't a virgin on our wedding night. I won't kill gay people and I won't kill nonbelievers as the bible dictates. I guess I should just be glad Christians aren't actually devoted to this book.
@johnnyboy2537 In Matthew 10:34 Jesus is talking figurativly here and talking about the divisions that would arise, even in your own family, when you choose to follow him. He was not talking about hurting anyone..context is important my friend. Also with regaurd to the Mosaic Law..it was fulfilled in Jesus and a new law of Self Sacrifice and loving your enemy as yourself was established. I am one hundred percent devoted to The Bible. Jesus is the Annointed one..Godbless you.
I really don't really care about their intentions, for being kind and sincere in their beliefs say nothing about the true of their supernatural claims. Also, religion also provide the perfect covert to disguise arrogance as humility
I think that Christians need to back off and accept that we are not going to change our minds - I find myself even more repelled by religion when I am accosted by someone proselytising at me. Every week I have to endure my school Chaplain (I'm at a Church of England school, but only about half of us even believe in God and even fewer do so actively) praying for my soul and preaching that only Christians are moral people. Also, why does everyone hate normal Muslims as well as fundamentalists?!
@SchroedingersMat I don't hate them..I just get outraged that the Normal ones don't kill the violent ones. They are probably as scared as anyone I suppose. Believe in God..he believes in you.
I consider myself to be one of the aforementioned christians who don't want to judge, but genuinely care. I also agree with with your assessment of you garden variety athiests, which many of my friends are. I have, however, had plenty of contact via the internet with ignorant and inflammatory athiests. I realized they founded their disbelief in god on their hatred of a specific religion, in most cases christianity. The reverse can be, and often is, true.
Who needs to respect people who are delusional enough to think that if you don't believe what they do, their 'loving' god will pour gasoline all over you and light you on fire FOR AN ETERNITY!! Do you know how many people have been tortured to death throughout history by Christians with 'GOOD INTENTIONS' just to get them to convert so they wont go to hell?? Christianity and Islam are the fathers of the most barbaric, hateful, corrupt, controlling, ignorant people the world has seen
@pcgrowcase Hahahahaha!!!! You are hilarious... Let's say that I claim to be a Christian. A true Christian would follow the Bible. If I claim to be a Christian but I do everything against the Bible that I possibly can without caring about it, I am then, what is called, a Hypocrite. Just as standing in a garage doesn't make you a car, saying you are a Christian or that you are doing something in the name of Christianity doesn't make you a Christian. Your actions tell who you truly are. =)
@EndpointUnlimited "A true christian would follow the bible". Yeah like maybe in Deuteronomy 22:23-27 where a girl who gets raped should be stoned to death. How about exodus21:7-9 where it allows the "bible follower" to sell his daughter as a slave. Or how about in the New Testament 1 Corinthians14:34-35 where it commands women not to speak in church meetings and be "submissive" to man. How about colossians 3:22-25 where it commands slaves to obey their master. LOL @ "true bible follower"
@pcgrowcase Don't throw clips of the Bible at me... I am sure that you can answer most of your questions if you just do a little research. The old testament is mostly history and the things that Jesus taught in the new testament changed many of the old laws. The man IS supposed to be the head of the house hold. (According to Christianity) Slaves thousands of years ago were quite different. Think of it like a maid or servant in todays time. History really clears things up...
@EndpointUnlimited Typical Christian who does not understand a damn thing about his own bible that he worships. It clearly states that slaves should obey their masters and do whatever they want in the NEW TESTAMENT. All you need to do is look at the last 2000 years of christian history to discover that your bible is a sick book that is followed by sick ignorant people who have a history of destruction and torture just like ISLAM. You are a inferior human being, and a weak one at that!
Right now I'm praying for Jesus that he will put aside his pride and repent of his sins for killing all the children in the old testament. Does it not say in the good book "thou shalt not kill"?? We sh
im catholic and we do not hate everyone we just one you to beleive in god it doesnt matter in your religion just your beleifs i have an uncle thats atheist and he abuses me for loving god but i dont hate him back!
@nathan1233521 your weak ,or perhaps insecure, or more likely indoctronated when you were a child, which is the best way to annihalate free thinking. personaly i hate the stupidity in which people just lamely except religion. you except your faith, yet laugh at the other rediculous faiths like mormon, scientology, jehovahs, john frumpy, wicca. or you could just be a plain humble indoctronated catholic that just excepts all the other faiths, to help perpetuate your plagerised faith. hail TFSM.
@nathan1233521 who the hells we,how many personalitys do you have?. eternal life,no thanks, ones enough man. im happy with the way mother nature goes about its business. i used to fear death, now i have excepted it as part of the order of things. besides if there was a god,who in there right mind would want to praise the prick for ever more. if the prick existed, hes in for one hell of a beaten for some of the carnage he creates, id suggest the bugger gets well and truly armed before he meets me
@nathan1233521 I just want people to have the peace I do...I do not fear death and understand my purpose for life..Also it is REAL..externally to myself...Athiests are delusional. Pascal was right.
I dont know it seems like your videos are made to "deporgram" people of their beliefs in God and to follow your ways. What is the difference between what Christians do? And yes most atheists on the internet are very arrogant and insulting. Just look at the logically fallacious arguments all over this comment section.
well intentioned to indoctrinate you, good intentions my ass, it's because they feel the need to seduce you that they smile and play nice, a few hundreds years ago they would have call you a witch and burn you or would have force you convert, these people with their myths, superstitions and medieval thinking needs to go the way of the dodo, they are slowing down humanity, thats their crime
@quaxk That is exactly what will happen in the end times according to the Bible. Most if not almost all Christians will be killed, and it say's that the people killing them will believe they are doing the right thing. Don't worry just hang around and you will see more Christian blood in the streets than you ever would believe. You are playing right into Satans hands. I don't play nice..so enjoy the earth..it will be your heaven.
@doobersmanster so you actually hope to be killed, somehow that will make you right and holy, or some other violent bible delusion? don't you see a problem here, the very flagrant, failure of that righteousness concept? you cannot be right if you hope to be murdered, because that violent mysticism makes mentally incompetent, a danger to yourself and others, I doubt you can understand that, but a court would, I advise you to tone it down in public ;)
@quaxk I don't know where you Got the Idea that I hope to be killed...I don't want to be killed..You are very confused. I am not afraid of Death, but that is different than wanting to be killed. As for killing people? Why would you think that any mainstream believer in Jesus would want to kill anyone? Rightousness is not given by anything I DO..no action can make me rightous..only Jesus can make you rightous through what HE DID. We all die, seek God while you can, I gain nothing if u do.
@doobersmanster you came here all patronizing and alledged that I, among others, where future murderers, and you would be one of our victims, that's exactly what you alluded to, out of the blue, using my completely unrelated, 9 months old comment as a springboard to dissiminate your unwanted violent mysticism, you're still doing proselytism in that last condescending comment, now are you aware that discourse sound deranged to a any rational person, including involuntary commitment judges?
@quaxk "superstitions and medieval thinking needs to go the way of the dodo, they are slowing down humanity, thats their crime"..CRIME? YOu are the crazy one.YOu alluded to hunting down Christians and making them extinct. That to me is crazy and deranged and something I have never said about anyone. I think that would be considered intent and a threat of violence Mr.DoDo. God is Real and has changed many lives. Turn to Jesus, He cares.
Unfortunately, whether or not the "average" dogmatic theist wishes to judge others (they do... walk into a room and announce you are atheist...) is not the larger issue with religion. Read Sam Harris.
Of course they want the best. If I knew the secret of eternal life, I would share it with everyone. That thing is not their intention. Is that the LOGIC and the SCIENCE DO NOT SUPPORT IT, and religion and theism rather seem like literature rather than fact. And there's nothing more dangerous for a person than believing without having seen or proving.
I'm a fan of your videos but I strongly disagree this time. I believe they are well intentioned but that doesn't excuse the harmful outcome. When their best intentions is voting for a politician to deny any person their rights, thats harmful. When they sit back an not oppose their extreme factions, that harmful. MLK said 'there comes a time when your silence make you complicit'.
@ABPASupport Wow then you arnt a Christian then. The Bible is what the entire basis of our faith is on. If you are hearing voices then im kind of worried for you.
Many people make conflict too much of a sport on you tube its all ego driven nonsense thats a game of words but most importantly cleverness. The futility isn't clear because the need for validation overshadows understanding.
I think most antichristian arguments are about right wing evangelical power motivations, not to mention the overwhelming amount of followers trying to convert the masses into idealised sheep for a more powerful voting base.
I agree and it is further confirmed. Looking at intentions is also a Christian concept and command. Because God will judge us by our intentions and not necessarily our actions. This is illustrated in many forms in the Bible. Such as when Esther lied about where her people were, to save them from be annihilated. God will judge the good intentions behind it.
Good point. Look at the persons intentions. One reason i find it hard to subscribe to booming religions and atheism for that matter, look at the intentions of the people who constructed the ideas and sold them to the public. Modern religion is a business for those at the top.
Fuck extremists! :-) Why can't people just be more open-minded and get along with each other??? ;-) Afterall, the Christian god, btw I'm a Christian, could just be the Flying Spaghetti Monster, lol! :D
Good vid man. Way to be a peacemaker. I agree with your video. But I still side with the idea of egoistic altruism, that even when we do good for others, seemingly for no benefit to ourselves, it is in some way meant to benefit us.
I would like to see religion take much more of a back seat especially when it comes to governance, policy and education. That's not to say I want to get rid of religion, it plays an important role in many peoples lives but we need to cut the apron strings and move forward. It will always have part to play and rightly so, there are some beautiful elements to it. If there is a God then it's time for his/her children to start growing up...we have so much potential. Just my 2 cents.
the place i live in started to have some amounts of atheists recently (probably above 1%), an observable amount.
However the numbers are small enough for people to believe it will just go away with time. I find it insulting and frustrating to hear from people all the time "i also didn't believe when i was young, you'll see god exists when you grow up". They're of course not being rational, and i just say "yeah, never knows:. I won a few bets on this issue though:D
My personal feelings on this are let everyone believe in what they want, and if both people want to discuss it, then do. but don't force arguments onto it. I am personally Atheist and hate it when christians try to prove to me that their god is real, while supporting NO logical explination other than "cuz i said so idiot!!!!!" i mean honestly i enjoy civil conversations about it butwhen they try to shove it down my throat i just want to punch them in the face
I find it insulting when somebody says they will pray for me or they feel sorry for me because they think I'm going to hell or have the assumption that I need saving. Of course all this is based on the belief that there is an all knowing, all loving, all powerful everywhere at once invisible guy who watches over us. Christianity belongs in churches and homes. You wouldn't hear from atheists if christians weren't trying to shove god and creation down everyone's throat.
@JaynesHat1 You seem to be missing the entire point of the video. Saying "Convert or I'll never talk to you again!" is shoving their beliefs down your throat. Saying "I'll pray for you." is an expression of concern. Penn Jillette said it best that the gift of a Bible is the best expression of love a Christian can make.
well then they'd better find a way to better express their love!
:D
i mean it takes a little PR skills to realize that giving a bible to an atheist not only will make that atheist a little angry, it certainly won't convert them.
But i got you point, and i see how in the christian paradigm you're absolutely forced to spread your beliefs, just out of concern, if not for other reasons.
Again, you missed the point! Christians are not FORCED to do anything of the sort. A true Christian doesn't spread the word because he has to. He does because he WANTS to.
Now here's the question: Are you comfortable with your atheism? I mean truly, undebiably comfortable. If you are, then there is no reason for you to be so offended by the efforts of religious people to convince you.
i was a christian, i know how the game is. Yeah, they're not forced, but the paradigm is such that the most logical and best and awesome thing you could do is to convert other people.
And i am quite comfortable with my atheism. I am not offended at all, what i am is (understandably) somewhat frustrated, due to the very hard communication with christians. It's easy to have a constructive dialog with people who share your views, but a lot harder with ideological "enemies".
don't give me that "the average christian doesnt' mind" bs. religiousness instills a "us and them" mentality and it DOES get nasty. i don't know what sort of peaceville you live in but im sure it's nowhere near the rest of the world.
Oh yeah the average christian doesn't mess with anybody. Except when they have to vote, give an opinion about gays, about sex, about condoms, about the war, about our way of life and when they have no justification for their opinions (the bible says so). They inherently disturb social discussion with non sequiturs and polarizing views that breed nothing but hate.
You know I don't know why they try to sell their religeous crap at all.
If they read the damn Bible and revelations, they will find it is a fixed number that perish and a fixed number that go, well into the clouds were heaven was before powered flight. So if they convert to many they may miss out on what must ultimately be a lottery at the end of the world, when it comes..... oh yes and it is predicted.. again and over 100 big ends so far I know of, each generation has a go at IT's NOW
I whole hartedly agree. The problem mostly stems from stupid creationists but also from thoes that feel the have to shove it in your face. However that said they as a group passively prop up an orgainsation that is at its core corupt. The most zealot as chris hitchens has pointed out can find in their holy books devine justifacation for the most hideous of crimes. Lets not forget Hitler "Doing Gods Work" carried to power by christian and the womans vote standing for family. END THE MYTHs.
Hey Protean, I am on the fence about god or no god. I have been tought in school about the big bang theroy. I would believe it if only males or females were here on earth but how is it that two beings, that have exact reproductive organs, to produce other beings have both evolved at the same time? Please debunk this, I think this is ludacris other than thier being a supreme being and design.
If Christianity is correct, Hitler will be going to heaven for believing in Jesus, while the 6-10 million people he killed will be burning for all eternity for not believing that Jesus is Lord.
I agree with you but this is such wasted energy! Who cares about your believe system or mine. All I know is that I have a limited amount of time on this earth and I choose too not focus on your believe system or on Christianity. My education allows me to work in the field I love and I could care less about any Christianity. Education is the key to freedom of thought and income and spending time trying to convince the masses that they are wrong is useless. Money sets you free & u no it.
l really think Christians have there place in the world as far as the churches go anyway, after all they are the ones that help the needy and go to third word countries to help the sick.
So without that the world would be even more messed up then it is now.
l don't follow a religion but l am spiritual l do believe that there is something out the bigger than all this
Haha, the road to hell is paved with good intentions isn't it?
Of course religious moderates exist and the atheist war is not with them in its best form. And we have zealots too. Our side still has the moral authority, I believe, because it is we who completely and unequivocally agree with the idea that religiosity is a private matter. If the religious (who used to force religion on us and kill us) would keep religion far away from the public arena there would be absolutely no battle.
I have been an atheist for over 10 years now and I have not met a single cristian who did not have there own agenda. It is in there holy book (bible) that it is not olny there duty to convert everyone to there faith (go ye into the world and sperd the good news) but it is also a sin if they don't. So why would I ever trust a cristian or any religous person to respect my rights and wishes.
He does have a point. Although the intention isn't the problem...it's the action. People hate studying. Especially the religious concerning religion. Which leaves them listening to what they are told and nothing else. Then they want to chastise others as if they were an expert on a subject they know almost nothing about. When I, an Atheist, can recite more religious text than a christian there's a problem. Especially when they're judging me using a religious context.
@Mikedogg13666 as a believer in god, i agree with you. i will no longer label myself christian for those reasons. u know when you find out something cool? and it makes you really happy, that you just wanna tell the whole world about it? evangelism use to be like that. now its a way people try to get a spark out of someone or try to put themselves on pedestals. and they dont even know what theyre talking about. but please do not think anyone that believes in a god, or christians are like that.
@punkrocktheparty I'm very glad you took the bait. That's a very good thing. I have friends who are just like you. I adore them because they are humble in a way I have seen no other theist before. They aren't concerned with brow beating me to death over something they can't prove. They instead look to just being a good person and friend to me and helping me stay guided like they themselves would expect from any good friend. Theist or not. I have beliefs also. I know people are different. ;)
@falloutseriesftw Oh yes!!! I was an avid bible reader. It's important to realize that most intellectual Atheists have come to their possession specifically from reading the actual text of the bible and any other biblical writings they can get their hands onto. It's a bit like being extremely excited to find out about Scientology or Mormonism...once you begin to discover the underlying truths, histories and evidences...you can't help but see the inconsistencies that lead one to more questions.
I live in a relatively secular country. Even here I get accosted in the street by evangelical halfwits. I have them knocking at my door trying to sell me their particular brand of delusion. I have fundamentalist fucktards sending information packs to my sons school trying to get the absurdity of creationism taught in science classes. We atheists have been quiet for far too long while religion abuses our children, infects our politics and spread their bigotry and ignorance
@stewpotb62 that's not rue at all, a lot of Christians like my self believe in evaluation, you can't make such a broad statement just because you have religious assholes in your town. The problem many atheists try to use it as a weapon to say your religion is wrong and your wrong. This in tern makes Christians not even want ti think that the to can co-inside with each other or educate themselves about it. Christianity is all about how we can resist our human nature and be better people for it.
@maximunoutlaw32 I agree with you...that the "ORIGINAL" intent was one of good human relation. However, that is unfortunately no longer the issue with today's battle. People have searched endlessly for the hard evidence required to place any and all religions into the scientific arena in order to be taken seriously. Yet, there has never been even ONE single ounce of evidence that provides positive support for the validity of religion. Therefore, it leaves only human responsibility to examine.
@stewpotb62 i totally agree with you but i think you missed his point or maybe you just didn't fell like addressing what the videos about. what ever. peace and love
Honestly, the Chinese government does no good at all, except the only thing: they are keeping the virus of bigotry and anti-intellectualism out of their doors.
Ignorance is what gets to me. People will often condemn one another simply because they do not understand. Atheists are more of the aggressors in this field... They condemn/criticize believers simply because they do not understand why they believe in their religions. Ignorant people need to learn that the world doesn't revolve around 'em... Their mindset is, "Your views are different from mine, so I'll condemn/criticize you." Change it.
atheist are not angry by avarage belivers, i personaly am angry at my super muslym grandma who says im going to burn in hell for all eternity for not beliving in god.
so i just want these belivers to think before making a decision, to really think about it, to find some kind of logic in what they preach.
completely true about atheists not being filled with hate or any other absurdity such as that. but as for the christians not necessarily wanting to recruit you, but wanting you to go to heaven; they actually believe that their is a heaven, utterly ridiculous, but i don't care as long as they don't screw up the world with wars and the like.
motivations are irrelevant. objectives are the relevant. so if a christian dares to somehow help me into his imagines heaven i don't really care why he makes such an attempt, but i will fight back such an assault on my (and in fact everybody's) intellectual integrity.
I wholly agree, most Christians and most atheists are indistinguishable from each other, until you ask them that question. and they really won't have a problem with one another for having answered truthfully. However, those Christians are not the ones on television and radio or other forums shouting that Islam is the enemy, and "godlessness is destroying society." Those are the voices being heard, so there has to be a counter movement to prevent this vocal minority from ruining everything.
you better check out the christians of the middle east!! they're as bigots as usama bin laden!
if you're referring to european christians .. then it makes sense! those people learned from the dark ages that religion doesn't pay! hopefully the middle east with its jews muslims and christians will learn that and come into peace one day!!
Youtube is truth empowering, you can get your ideas out, then battle the way philosophers did and find where we stand on common ground. You want to silence or belittle the open forum, then get out of it.
From the atheist point of view, the religious want people to believe stupid things so they can be comfortable and they're afraid to ask tough questions and answer honestly. That's what I think of most Christians. Youtube is like anywhere else, people have to be taken with a grain of salt. If you are literal in the extreme and think everyone else is too, then Youtube probably isn't the place for you, nor is real life for that matter.
I have to agree, ProteanView. Most people hold to a libertarian point of view when it comes to everyday living. The extremists, the ones that want to recruit, are the ones that are compelling the change of heart. Last year, I went back to church and joined a Bible Study that only brought about 1% of all parishioners because these people either wanted to evangelize or find ways to answer extremists of other metaphysical POVs. This line of reasoning you've presented may explain the low turnout.
As a Christian theist, I really respect this video. This needs to be heard more here on Youtube. The reason for most of us wanting people to join our faith is because we genuinely want to save people. We think we have the cure for cancer, therefore, we want to share it.
Not all atheists are belligerent either of course and care for as much for their fellow man as much as anyone else.
It is interesting how people act differently on the internet than they do in their actual life (whatever that difference is these days). The anonymous nature of the internet really lets you see a different side of people.
As a Christian myself, I don't want to see anyone go to hell. Some Christian may judge people. But, than again have you not ever judged someone yourself for being too fat, too skinny, too loud, or assumed because how they are dressed they have to be up to no good. I am sure everyone has done this at one point or another. Christians are suppose to relay the message of God, but it they are not being heard they are suppose to knock the sand from their feet and move on. Great video! God bless!
The only problem I have with this belief of yours that Christians have good intentions is that they don't. If you found out your belief was causing humanity to face the same issues repeatedly, never resolving them, and ignoring that pursuit of the truth, would you call it good intent, or when your desire to believe negates your sensitivity to reality, I guess the vicious cycle continues. They could at least examine their belifs for crying out loud.
@stevenweir76 you think we are Christians because we want to be no my friend we are Christians because it makes the most since if you were to read a document that fore told events that came into reality and didnt take heed than you would be a fool even if it went against modern science by the way changes as new discoveries come up
@Ltaxe1 - Sincerely, I think you are Christian because you choose not to think about it out of fear. The really stupid part of your argument is that the Bible made predictions that never came true and can never come true. Jesus, if you can prove he even existed supposedly said the world would end 2000 years ago, it never came to pass. So, presented with this evidence, it does not make me a fool to ignore it. You have one life, enjoy it, don't suffer pointlessly, that would make you a fool.
@Ltaxe1 - And science has long proved the Judeo-Christian God is false to any rational freethinking person. Even if there is a God, you have wagered yourself that it is not Vishnu, nor Zeus. That doesn't sound risky, does it. Nor does ignoring your religion sound remotely risky to me. God is a man made concept, nothing more.
Okay for 1, science has NEVER disproved the existence of the Christian God. If you want to argue, show me the "facts". Jesus has never stated that the world would end 2000 years ago, seeing as 2000 ago was Jesus's birth. Seeing as you couldn't even figure that out, you absolutely couldn't understand what you were talking about. Just about ALL of the prophecies became true, they were all metaphors. One might think it was the world, when only a city was destroyed by great flames.
@colossal300 - Matthew 16:28: "...there shall be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom." In Matthew 24:34, Yeshua is recorded as saying: "...This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled." Since the life expectancy in those days was little over 30 years, Jesus appears to have predicted his second coming sometime during the 1st century CE. It didn't happen. You, sir, are full of shit.
@stevenweir76 - The world is not flat, the Earth is not the center of the universe, there is no firmament. Disease does not come from demons, there are no such thing as devils or angels or God for that matter. Your book fails epically on many levels. How you Christians fail to see this is only a testament to your capacity for denial.
Are you mentally challenged? Where the hell does it say that the world is flat, that disease comes from demons, or that the earth is the center of the universe?
I'm full of shit? No where have you stated any "scientific fact" that has disproved religion in any way, shape, or manner. Everything is metaphorical. This "generation" means this generation of mankind, before mankind's disappearance. Nothing in the bible is stated plainly, why would you think differently of this?
@colossal300 - NO, you fucking lying, deluded asshole Jesus allegedly said some that stand before him today, it is not metaphor, it is failed bullshit , you are a deluded fucking asshole. Every fucking metaphor is what you want it to be and every interpretation is what you want it to be. Jepthah, Judges 11. Read it, what the fuck is the metaphor. I could interpret the Qur'an as you interpret the Bible, and come out shining, only because ignoring facts is all that allows you to hold on.
Is there any reason for your anger? It is currently IMPOSSIBLE to know what lies beyond death, therefore, you can NOT rule out anything. Its called faith asshole. The WHOLE fucking bible is in metaphors. Have you ever realized that everyone who reads the bible interprets something else? Thats how it was planned. Its supposed to enlighten each reader in a different way. Just cause you fail at reading comprehension doesn't mean you need to flip the fuck out.
@colossal300 - If it is impossible to know what is beyond death and I do agree with, then WTF makes you think that you know? You are a hippocrite. If the whole fucking Bible is metaphors, then why treat it with such undue respect as people do. The Bible has enlightened me, it has shown me that I am a member of a species which has a brain yet chooses not to use it . Which surrenders their intellect to superstition and hearsay, and succumbs to any authority which makes their fear go away.
@colossal300 - I sent you a personal email. I suggest you read it. It was written by a Muslim but his points are valid. You want metaphor. God and Jesus are metphors for people who are scared to die and want to act superior to everyone else because they are too stupid to understand, despite the fact that I know so much more about how this universe and world works than you ever will. The whole fucking Bible is a metaphor for superstitious bullshit that humanity suffered through the dark ages.
right now, its seems that its YOU who wants to act superior to everyone else. I'm not trying to convert you, yet you're bitching because i believe in something else? And asshole, the christian/jewish/islamic God, is the same God. If thats the metaphor you got from what the Muslim wrote, then your intelligence in in question. You know how the universe works more than I? please explain. The only thing i seemed to mention was the afterlife. So Mr.Tough guy...what happens after death?
@colossal300 - I know more about the universe than you because I have studied cosmology. I understand where the atoms that make you up came from. I know how we evolved from simple organisms, and it's based on evidence. I know that we rot after we die, other than that, no-one knows. If you have some kind of revelation which proves your God exists, do disclose it, so I can rip your misconceptions to pieces. You only evidence is anecdote and theosophy. Mine is philosophy and physical proof.
@colossal300 - If it makes you feel better, there is no text on Earth that accurately describes any kind of divine reality. Which leads me to think it is non-existent. But who knows, maybe there is something after we die? I just know that you don't know what it is.
If it makes you feel better, there is no text on Earth that accurately disproves any kind of divine reality. Which leads me to think that there is one.
It can go both ways buddy. It's called faith. Something in which you apparently lack, as well as basic communication skills.
@colossal300 - There is nothing to disprove Sasquatch or the tooth fairy or unicorns or leprechauns either. You opened your mind too far and your brain fell out.
Faith is believing stupid things based on assumptions of a prejudiced, arrogant and self-centered manner. And offers nothing to anyone but you in your little fantasy world.
@colossal300 - And you are very, very wrong when you say that all people believe the Bible to be metaphor. Even you can't be stupid enough to believe those words you have written. Really, do we need to show you or do you know better?
Tha Angel GAbriel gave conflicting orders to the Islamic and Christian Prophets. This literally has led to conflicting philosophies which have ultimately led to wars among the two religions ever since. This tells me Gabriel the Angel was actually Gabriel the Jew doing what we now know they do best which is create conflict to advance their cowardice agenda for power.
any one who beleives totally with out question, but only in the points they like and agree with or have read/heard, in a book written 1000's of years ago, can not be told they are being stupid, why, cos of what they believe, if i beleive goblins are real but they are invisible totally quiet keep them selves to them selves and have never been see by a living humAn, then there wud no way of proveing me wrong or trying to get me to see sense, or reason, or FACT!
Oh man you hit the nail on the head! We as human beings MUST realize we do NOT have to agree on everything to be civil to each other and even be friends! Most theists and atheists are great people!
I get thosands of hate mails every day. That'swhy I know I am telling the truth. Those who lie get no flack. Those who follow God get a lot of crap thrown at them.l. Praise Be., nobody beats me. NOBODY.
He can turn the water in Thor's body into wine thus giving him a 100% Blood Alcohol level, thus killing him ^_^...or at least he'd pass out. I still think Cathulu can rock them both <_<...
Wrong! Many people don't follow through on what they believe. If you don't live up to your convinctions, you know you're lacking integrity. It makes a difference what people believe. Humans need to use reason to survive; many Christians, et al, contextually, can be very rational people. The average Christian, implicitly knows the impractical nature of their views, but, this doesn't stop them from advocating it anyway. It's the sundering of fact/value that is the cause of this evil.

there is never such a thing as an atheist. All men believe in God and know they are going to hell. The difference is whether they have converted or not.
BTW: There is no god :P

I think you're right about the average Christian, but its those nonaverage Christians that worry me. If you want to look at the real statistics, the average Christian doesn't go to church(over 60%), hasn't read his bible (over 90%), doesn't tithe or support their church (80%), and can't list all ten commandments (70%). The average Christian is so watered-down that they might as well be an atheist.
AtheistExplains 3 weeks ago
See, it's not about intend. It's about letting people believe what they want. It's about thinking of others being as stupid and you smart because 'you have the right answer and others don't'. THAT'S one of the two main problems I have with christians. The 'I know better than you' attitude, while their views have no basis. The other main problem I hate is how christians try to impose their views on others through law and saying they're discriminated against.
Sanquinity 3 weeks ago
let's not sugar coat things shall we?

AtheistExplains 3 weeks ago
It doesn't matter what their intentions are. These are DELUSIONAL people. If you went into a mental hospital and a bunch of inmates wanted you to sit in on a circle jerk to feel good, would you think they were just trying to help you? From THEIR perspective they might - but as a SANE person, you need to rise above such idiocy and either teach them to do something more constructive with their time, or just leave them to their own insanity. Your responsibility is to be sane in a world of idiots.

I also agree with with your assessment of you garden variety athiests, which many of my friends are. I have, however, had plenty of contact via the internet with ignorant and inflammatory athiests.

LOL @ "true bible follower"
pcgrowcase 9 months ago
@pcgrowcase Don't throw clips of the Bible at me... I am sure that you can answer most of your questions if you just do a little research. The old testament is mostly history and the things that Jesus taught in the new testament changed many of the old laws. The man IS supposed to be the head of the house hold. (According to Christianity) Slaves thousands of years ago were quite different. Think of it like a maid or servant in todays time. History really clears things up...

@EndpointUnlimited Typical Christian who does not understand a damn thing about his own bible that he worships.

Of course they want the best. If I knew the secret of eternal life, I would share it with everyone. That thing is not their intention.
MayonR 11 months ago
Good point. Look at the persons intentions. One reason i find it hard to subscribe to booming religions and atheism for that matter, look at the intentions of the people who constructed the ideas and sold them to the public. Modern religion is a business for those at the top.

That's not to say I want to get rid of religion, it plays an important role in many peoples lives but we need to cut the apron strings and move forward.
JaynesHat1 1 year ago
@JaynesHat1 You seem to be missing the entire point of the video. Saying "Convert or I'll never talk to you again!" is shoving their beliefs down your throat. Saying "I'll pray for you." is an expression of concern. Penn Jillette said it best that the gift of a Bible is the best expression of love a Christian can make.
jeffreycn1 1 year ago
@jeffreycn1
well then they'd better find a way to better express their love!
:D
i mean it takes a little PR skills to realize that giving a bible to an atheist not only will make that atheist a little angry, it certainly won't convert them.
But i got you point, and i see how in the christian paradigm you're absolutely forced to spread your beliefs, just out of concern, if not for other reasons.
De4sher 1 year ago
@De4sher
Again, you missed the point! Christians are not FORCED to do anything of the sort. A true Christian doesn't spread the word because he has to. He does because he WANTS to.
Now here's the question: Are you comfortable with your atheism? I mean truly, undebiably comfortable. If you are, then there is no reason for you to be so offended by the efforts of religious people to convince you.
jeffreycn1 1 year ago
@jeffreycn1
i was a christian, i know how the game is. Yeah, they're not forced, but the paradigm is such that the most logical and best and awesome thing you could do is to convert other people.
And i am quite comfortable with my atheism. I am not offended at all, what i am is (understandably) somewhat frustrated, due to the very hard communication with christians. It's easy to have a constructive dialog with people who share your views, but a lot harder with ideological "enemies".

l really think Christians have there place in the world as far as the churches go anyway, after all they are the ones that help the needy and go to third word countries to help the sick.
So without that the world would be even more messed up then it is now.
l don't follow a religion but l am spiritual l do believe that there is something out the bigger than all this

Yeah, but it's when push comes to shove that you have to worry.
These moderates create a nice fertile ground for zealotry too.
jemborg 1 year ago

Mikedogg13666 1 year ago 36

I know people are different. ;)

@Mikedogg13666 im christian, and even i agree, that is a problem. but were you a former bible-reading christian?
falloutseriesftw 5 months ago
@falloutseriesftw Oh yes!!! I was an avid bible reader. It's important to realize that most intellectual Atheists have come to their possession specifically from reading the actual text of the bible and any other biblical writings they can get their hands onto. It's a bit like being extremely excited to find out about Scientology or Mormonism...once you begin to discover the underlying truths, histories and evidences...you can't help but see the inconsistencies that lead one to more questions.
Mikedogg13666 5 months ago
I live in a relatively secular country. Even here I get accosted in the street by evangelical halfwits. I have them knocking at my door trying to sell me their particular brand of delusion. I have fundamentalist fucktards sending information packs to my sons school trying to get the absurdity of creationism taught in science classes. We atheists have been quiet for far too long while religion abuses our children, infects our politics and spread their bigotry and ignorance
stewpotb62 1 year ago 42
@stewpotb62 that's not rue at all, a lot of Christians like my self believe in evaluation, you can't make such a broad statement just because you have religious assholes in your town. The problem many atheists try to use it as a weapon to say your religion is wrong and your wrong. This in tern makes Christians not even want ti think that the to can co-inside with each other or educate themselves about it. Christianity is all about how we can resist our human nature and be better people for it.
maximunoutlaw32 1 year ago
@maximunoutlaw32 I agree with you...that the "ORIGINAL" intent was one of good human relation. However, that is unfortunately no longer the issue with today's battle. People have searched endlessly for the hard evidence required to place any and all religions into the scientific arena in order to be taken seriously. Yet, there has never been even ONE single ounce of evidence that provides positive support for the validity of religion. Therefore, it leaves only human responsibility to examine.

Youtube is truth empowering, you can get your ideas out, then battle the way philosophers did and find where we stand on common ground. You want to silence or belittle the open forum, then get out of it.
stevenweir76 1 year ago
From the atheist point of view, the religious want people to believe stupid things so they can be comfortable and they're afraid to ask tough questions and answer honestly. That's what I think of most Christians. Youtube is like anywhere else, people have to be taken with a grain of salt. If you are literal in the extreme and think everyone else is too, then Youtube probably isn't the place for you, nor is real life for that matter.
stevenweir76 1 year ago
I have to agree, ProteanView. Most people hold to a libertarian point of view when it comes to everyday living. The extremists, the ones that want to recruit, are the ones that are compelling the change of heart. Last year, I went back to church and joined a Bible Study that only brought about 1% of all parishioners because these people either wanted to evangelize or find ways to answer extremists of other metaphysical POVs. This line of reasoning you've presented may explain the low turnout.
TheMathgeek37 1 year ago
As a Christian theist, I really respect this video. This needs to be heard more here on Youtube. The reason for most of us wanting people to join our faith is because we genuinely want to save people. We think we have the cure for cancer, therefore, we want to share it.
Not all atheists are belligerent either of course and care for as much for their fellow man as much as anyone else.

God bless!
Veiled4God 1 year ago
The only problem I have with this belief of yours that Christians have good intentions is that they don't. If you found out your belief was causing humanity to face the same issues repeatedly, never resolving them, and ignoring that pursuit of the truth, would you call it good intent, or when your desire to believe negates your sensitivity to reality, I guess the vicious cycle continues. They could at least examine their belifs for crying out loud.
stevenweir76 1 year ago
@stevenweir76 you think we are Christians because we want to be no my friend we are Christians because it makes the most since if you were to read a document that fore told events that came into reality and didnt take heed than you would be a fool even if it went against modern science by the way changes as new discoveries come up
Ltaxe1 1 year ago
@Ltaxe1 - Sincerely, I think you are Christian because you choose not to think about it out of fear. The really stupid part of your argument is that the Bible made predictions that never came true and can never come true. Jesus, if you can prove he even existed supposedly said the world would end 2000 years ago, it never came to pass. So, presented with this evidence, it does not make me a fool to ignore it. You have one life, enjoy it, don't suffer pointlessly, that would make you a fool.
stevenweir76 1 year ago
@Ltaxe1 - And science has long proved the Judeo-Christian God is false to any rational freethinking person. Even if there is a God, you have wagered yourself that it is not Vishnu, nor Zeus. That doesn't sound risky, does it. Nor does ignoring your religion sound remotely risky to me. God is a man made concept, nothing more.
stevenweir76 1 year ago
@stevenweir76
One might think it was the world, when only a city was destroyed by great flames.
colossal300 1 year ago
@colossal300 - Matthew 16:28: "...there shall be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom." In Matthew 24:34, Yeshua is recorded as saying: "...This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled." Since the life expectancy in those days was little over 30 years, Jesus appears to have predicted his second coming sometime during the 1st century CE. It didn't happen. You, sir, are full of shit.
stevenweir76 1 year ago
@stevenweir76 - The world is not flat, the Earth is not the center of the universe, there is no firmament. Disease does not come from demons, there are no such thing as devils or angels or God for that matter. Your book fails epically on many levels. How you Christians fail to see this is only a testament to your capacity for denial.
stevenweir76 1 year ago
@stevenweir76
Nothing in the bible is stated plainly, why would you think differently of this?
colossal300 1 year ago
@colossal300 - NO, you fucking lying, deluded asshole Jesus allegedly said some that stand before him today, it is not metaphor, it is failed bullshit , you are a deluded fucking asshole. Every fucking metaphor is what you want it to be and every interpretation is what you want it to be. Jepthah, Judges 11. Read it, what the fuck is the metaphor. I could interpret the Qur'an as you interpret the Bible, and come out shining, only because ignoring facts is all that allows you to hold on.
stevenweir76 1 year ago
@stevenweir76
Just cause you fail at reading comprehension doesn't mean you need to flip the fuck out.
colossal300 1 year ago
@colossal300 - If it is impossible to know what is beyond death and I do agree with, then WTF makes you think that you know? You are a hippocrite. If the whole fucking Bible is metaphors, then why treat it with such undue respect as people do. The Bible has enlightened me, it has shown me that I am a member of a species which has a brain yet chooses not to use it . Which surrenders their intellect to superstition and hearsay, and succumbs to any authority which makes their fear go away.
stevenweir76 1 year ago
@colossal300 - I sent you a personal email. I suggest you read it. It was written by a Muslim but his points are valid. You want metaphor. God and Jesus are metphors for people who are scared to die and want to act superior to everyone else because they are too stupid to understand, despite the fact that I know so much more about how this universe and world works than you ever will. The whole fucking Bible is a metaphor for superstitious bullshit that humanity suffered through the dark ages.
stevenweir76 1 year ago
@stevenweir76
right now, its seems that its YOU who wants to act superior to everyone else. So Mr.Tough guy...what happens after death?
colossal300 1 year ago
@colossal300 - I know more about the universe than you because I have studied cosmology. I understand where the atoms that make you up came from. I know how we evolved from simple organisms, and it's based on evidence. I know that we rot after we die, other than that, no-one knows. If you have some kind of revelation which proves your God exists, do disclose it, so I can rip your misconceptions to pieces. You only evidence is anecdote and theosophy. Mine is philosophy and physical proof.
stevenweir76 1 year ago
@colossal300 - If it makes you feel better, there is no text on Earth that accurately describes any kind of divine reality. Which leads me to think it is non-existent. But who knows, maybe there is something after we die? I just know that you don't know what it is.
stevenweir76 1 year ago
@stevenweir76
If it makes you feel better, there is no text on Earth that accurately disproves any kind of divine reality. Which leads me to think that there is one.
It can go both ways buddy. It's called faith. Something in which you apparently lack, as well as basic communication skills.
colossal300 1 year ago
@colossal300 - There is nothing to disprove Sasquatch or the tooth fairy or unicorns or leprechauns either. You opened your mind too far and your brain fell out.
Faith is believing stupid things based on assumptions of a prejudiced, arrogant and self-centered manner. And offers nothing to anyone but you in your little fantasy world.
stevenweir76 1 year ago
@colossal300 - And you are very, very wrong when you say that all people believe the Bible to be metaphor. Even you can't be stupid enough to believe those words you have written. Really, do we need to show you or do you know better?
