  • @adhok99 they aren't a Christian band. But they are Christian.

  • @ADHOK99 im sorry but i gotta ask, why would it matter? (no disrespect but it just kinda struck a pet peeve of mine)

  • This album was the best. Everything else was way too mainstream-y. The point #1 album that is.

  • Great Christian band probably the closest thing that Christian music has to Tool :)

  • @fiercey Chevelle isn't a Christian band for the millionth time! They never were and won't ever be. This record got distrubuted by a Christian Label, but they aren't a Christian band. they make it a point to keep religion and politics out of their music.

  • @iLikechevelle Actually "Saferwaters", "Long", " Build" "Credit to You" "Telestai" and most of the songs off of the blue album, r super duper religious. Look up the lyrics to almost any song (off of the blue album) and then u can actually understand what Pete is saying, they toned it down a bunch in Wonder Whats next and their other cd's. I disagree about the politics thing too, they have references to global warming issues and animal rights issues too. I personally love it when bands do that.

  • @fiercey in your dreams

  • @fiercey Chevelle is not a Christian band. I'm not sure where this misconception began. Just because their music was released on a "Christian" label does not automatically pigeonhole their work to the Christian genre.

  • @MrJoshBerk thank you someone who actually knows

  • @iLikechevelle Sorry, but when you look them up, they come up as Christian, and even if they are, it's more power to a music genre I've hated for years. I still can find their music in christian rock sections.

  • @juxtapositioning yeah, but those are from years ago. I've asked them. They're not a Christian band, never were and never will be. The reason why you find their music in Christian rock sections is because Squint Entertianment, their first label by owned by John Tesh and Amy Grant. Both are popular christian artists. It was a label mix up, Chevelle shouldn't still be associated with. The only reason why they're still mentioned with the "christian rock" term is because of People like you. stfu

  • Fucking awesome!

  • They recorded songs before #1

  • @feniu10 yeah, they're demo tapes. they started selling them at shows a long time before Point #1 was released. P#1 was released in 1999, but they had already been a band for 4 years.

  • This is beautiful

  • GOOD DEMO TAPE . GOD BLESS YOU .

  • original is better :D

  • They were so instrumental back then. From 5:20 for about thirty seconds is amazing

  • They were so instrumental back then. From 5:20 to 5:50 is just amazing.

  • Tool is obviously their biggest influence. But I do NOT feel it's any kinda Tool rip-off.........at all.

  • Thank you, this is my favorite song by my favorite band. What a find! I don't know who the T.P. is that a commenter said Chevelle sounds like. Pete Loeffler has time to sing in that band, too? He is on the road constantly with Sam and Dean and nobody else sings like Pete! I'm seeing them for the 4th time in 2010 alone, on Aug.1st. Pete was awfully gracious and classy to my daughter and me after they performed a long and stellar show a few years back. iLikechevelle, I appreciate this greatly!!

  • I believe they had converted this CD sometime in 1998 because they were selling a short demo of some sort when I saw them perform in the fall of that year at the former New Earth Coffeehouse in Westport.

  • @iLikechevelle I commend you for knowing where I tried to get my name from, even though I spelt it wrong. :P

  • Damn, didn't know Chevelle was so heavilly influenced by my favorite band (Which is... I'll give you a hint, it starts with a T) before 2001.

  • @CORNHOL0 But then again, Chevelle has always been awesome. Sounding like you know who or not.

  • Wow! That PRS guitar sounds amazing even on a 1998 demo tape!

I believe that guitar used in the demo got stolen few years ago. I wonder if Chevelle ever got their stolen instruments back...they posted a note on their website asking fans to check out for their stuff on e-bay.

  • @sysRq76 I think he still has it. It's the original red PRS he bought all of the Point #1 album and some of Wonder what's next. He stopped using it live since it's been used so much, he had a custom one made to replace it, and he feels it's been degraded since it was stolen and was in someone else's hands.

  • @sysRq76 they only got 2 guitars back

  • so amazing

  • AWESOME. never heard this shit.. RARE

  • Got it!!!

  • wow this is one of their first songs

  • nice stuff. where can i get a copy of the basement tapes?

  • pretty cool never thought i'd hear the real original of this

  • thankful there is a band that likes to play for more than 4minutes.. awesomeness and huge thanks

  • Where did you find this?

  • I almost won the bid for this tape when it was on sale. I was able to get the mp3s from the original owner and released it to ChevelleOnline. Your welcome guys!

  • no way, when was that? Thanks so much cucuzza21!

  • Hmmm, this must've been about a two years ago. I think it was December '07

  • cool, I wonder whoever ended up with it in the 1st place?

  • Dude I love you...

  • Thank you so much for sharing this. I have heard people say that it's believed that "Point # 1" was the first song that they recorded. Thanks again for sharing, you're a peach.

  • a peach? that's a new one. I wouldn't be suprised if that was true this was the first song they ever recorded.

  • Error 404 - File Not Found please upload again :(

  • Maybe the site is invalid now. I did this a year ago :(.

  • Just use YT downloader or firefox genuis

  • :O whereee u get this cassetE?

  • Chevelle is one of my guilty pleasures, but GODDAMNIT why should I feel guilty about such a badass band?! They are the shit! Fuck anyone that doesn't get it!

  • Yeah, with the #2 stop on iTunes, they are getting exposure they can be proud of.

  • it is amazing how each one of Chevelle's albums have something unique and different to offer for the listener, the songs on an album follow a theme somewhat but each album has a different sound to it. even the bands image alters over time.

  • I have a question. do you own that copy of the basement tape? or is it just a picture you found of it? lol

    jw

  • just a picture

  • this is cool

  • this must have been before he mastered the art of screaming.

  • yep, i'd say he was about 20 in this vid. voice hadn't matured all the way.

  • can you share the download link for the blue album?

  • there isn't a link, search guciclan on google and go to june 07 i think and you should be able to download it. If you have any problems send me a msg.

  • NICE!!!

  • THX!!!

  • Hmm... Personally I prefer the album version, although this was interesting to hear.

  • interesting! great

  • Do u actually have this tape, good find.
