I remember this anime from 1998,good times.lol

To all the guys that say this show is a ripoff of Dragonball,Let me inform you guys that both Dragonball and Monkey Magic were both based on the chinise story "Journey to the west" except the only difference is,Dragonball went it's own direction while Monkey Magic follows much closer to the original Journey to the west story.

Wow that was awesome. I have never before watched this show ever, but after watching this vid, I have to say Sun Wu Kong just cracks me up, Guan Yin/Blossom is cute/pretty, and that Buddha/Guardian is just damn cool. :D

It is drawn from a TV dramatization of the ancient Chinese story "The Journey to the West" produced in Japan called 西遊記 with Masako Natsume and Masaaki Sakai in it. I have seen all the episodes of the latter and I can say that the translation into English is very well done indeed.

never seen this before XD. but its too bad that they didnt stick entirely with the true plot. in the actual journey to the west tale, sun wukong used a brush to write his name on the budhas finger, and then pissed on it to make his mark. well. this works too i guess

The DVD set is extraordinarily rare. Your best bet is to try to find individual episodes on VHS or DVD on Ebay or Amazon or something.
