why doesn't serato just implement MIDI and be done with it....the box is only needed for users that still want to use turntables and cdj's....look at virtual DJ....
cuz if you think about it the software is free. if they get rid of the interface box thing everyone is gonna use some cheap interface with their timecodes. hence Rane losing bit more than 400 quid (timecodes are worth about 25 quid a pair afaik and SL is about roughly 450 these days).
@mike71flores Searto have implemented MIDI, I think what you're referring to is H.I.D. If Serato did NOT require its 'box' then, how would the company make its money? Not to mention, most (Professional) Serato users are bar/club DJ's who already have 'turntables and cdj's' provided for them to use by the venue. Why not exclusively use midi/hid? Not all bars have the latest gear that is hid/midi compatible, the venue however, will always have CDJs and/or turntables available.

its simple. very simple. Virtual dj losses so much money because it is cracked, and unfortunetly lots of users do not actually buy it.
Serato is one of few (the only software) I know that still has not been cracked.....they make their money that way. its smart.
