I am right now downloading this on steam, and I think that maybe this game is kinda like raiders (the opposite team) and the ship is like your ship (your team) or VICE-VERSA. And you are either defending your ship, or attacking an enemy ship. Or maybe its just a bunch of guys in a simulation? Who knows.....

About the game being realistic... I know its a game but its still really important to some people how realistic a game is. I know it really annoys me if I notice something totally realist straight off.

In this game, if they have such "advanced" technology like emulated gravity on the platforms, "space suits" and audio simulation gear.... surely they would be fighting in space ships / fighters? not infantry battles...

or is this a civil war on a ship?

any thoughts?

@D3mon5lay3r In the beginning when you hear "Loading Audio simulation files", it means your space suit is providing you situational awareness via onboard sensors. This system is disabled when your hit by an EMP, or when you go into "silent running" to avoid detection by enemy sensors. In both cases you can only hear yourself breathing and the faint sound of your own gun firing.

It's a beautiful game and very difficult to play (when you're a noob as I'm) :D.

@e3borealis It may look ugly to some because they developers focused on the 3d modeling instead of the textures. To me the textures look like something out of HL2.

They should of done what every other developer has done and focused on the textures first and not model in every little crack, so the game fails to run on most computers. You can get more bang for your buck if you draw the detail, not model it.

@retsnom92 For me, textures in this game are not bad, but "soft" shadows, which looks worse than stensil (like Doom 3), are fail. On my HD4650 i can play only on low light\shadow settings and it looks like shit.

@e3borealis Shadowing is part of the texture process. What happens is that the computer calculates the modifications to the selected textures to make them look like something is shadowing on them. Also the game would not need a quad core to run if they did not model in every little scratch in a rock.

lol practically it is, but theory is all this game is. It's a game, so "in theory" the use it has in game is practical. The only thing that annoyed me about the sound was the radio chatter, which I turned off. Anyway, if you want you realistic sound, that's the reason they made silent mode. I dunno why you are saying it's stupid when they put that in there for people like you and me...

yup, just need to be right frequency. like dogs can hear vibrations we cant. and in space, there are nothing to transfer the sound from one person to another, therefore you cant hear anything :D
