  • forgive my New Zealand accent (and how we spell) but it took me me over a dozen listens to realise he says 'Contain' because all i could hear was 'Cunt-ing'.and that's no joke

  • Someone reccomend me to similar music, Pandora doesn't want to.

  • @FeebleNosemanny Wavves, Neutral Milk Hotel

  • best indie artists....

    Grizzly Bear

    Beach House

    Fleet Foxes

  • @smokelakes GRIZZLY BEAR AND FLEET FOXES FTW. Never heard Beach House... I'll try them out though.

  • this is awesum! :D

  • @iThinkThereforeiCan I believe that there are parallels between the 2 and a comparison is warranted. Both gained recognition relatively around the same time. Both make folk or folk inspired music in a time which that particular style of music is not widely celebrated in the mainstream however both have garnered a national or international fanbase. And I believe that FF not only make the higher quality of music but seem to be focused on that quality of music and not preoccupied with gaining fame

  • @TheLebowski5 On 'gaining fame' that is merely a perception of yours, they gain fame as inadvertant side-effect to being GOOD. Personally, while I understand your point, I try not to compare - but, Fleet Foxes have 2 albums, 1 more than M&S.

  • So I just was told that Fleet Foxes was apparently nominated for a Grammy but DIDN'T win...

music legends that never won a grammy:

The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Grateful Dead, Bob Marley, The Who.....

    Just to name a few.

So in conclusion, most of the people that vote for the Grammy's wouldn't know good music if it bit them in the ass. But then again what can you expect from a world where the cast of “Glee” has had more songs chart than the Beatles?...

    ¯\(ツ)/¯

  • It's music like this that makes you wonder what the hell you'd been listening to your whole life up until you discovered it.

  • @crazylatingirl94 EXACTLY.

  • @crazylatingirl94 this, my friend.

  • these guys should be required listening before you die everyone needs to experince this

  • Fleet foxes are mother nature's growing child and there growing..BIGGER & BIGGER just like the trees and the flowers and the love and the happieness. Peace

  • BEAUTIFUL. Just discovered these guys..

  • This song is on repeat on God's Ipod ;)

  • This is what happiness sounds like

  • omg i drove for like threehours yestersday to some country looing place,i was listeningto this on my way there aaaaaaand looking out the window!! lol

  • This seems like a song you'd listen to with you headphones in looking out a car window or some shit.

  • Masterpiece.

  • my heart races

  • I saw this album at the top of a "Best of 2011" playlist, and I think I understand why now. Rarely does music actually feel exhilarating like this!

  • This was the song that defined this album as better than both their first and their EP...

  • Fleet Foxes, you are my road trip playlist. I hear your music going down the road and I feel like I'm going to cry sometimes, because it makes me so happy to feel so at peace. I don't believe in a heaven or a hell, but I feel like I'm in heaven when I hear your beautiful voices and instruments. Thank you for being around in my lifetime.

I hope you have REALLY great success, because your music is beautiful and really hard to not appreciate! Please keep making new music for me and the rest of us.

  • @Bubblesv2 mate what a lovely comment . its nice to know there are still genuinely nice people out there especially when you can be anonymous ( we all know how easy it is to be a dick head when you are unknown) anyhow peace bro x

  • @Bubblesv2 I completely agree. Everytime I listen to Fleet Foxes, and especially in my car, I feel peace, joy, inspiration, wonder, all these happy feelings. Their music makes me reflect on past experiences, the good times and the bad. I cannot describe what their music does me, but I can only say that it makes me grateful to be alive and breathing and know that there is good in the world.

  • The beginning of this song makes me feel so..overwhelmed.

  • Makes me think of my girlfriend :)

  • I'm not gonna say that Fleet Foxes destroy Mumford and Sons, but Fleet Foxes destroy Mumford and Sons

  • @TheLebowski5 I'm confused haha

  • @TheLebowski5 Where's the comparison? The music is totally different.

  • @TheLebowski5 questioning that is impossible

  • @TheLebowski5

not really mate they are both great. besides, they sound totaly different :)

  • @TheLebowski5 I hate mumford and sons, so, yeah.

  • @TheLebowski5 Then you probably never heard Mumford & Sons

  • @luna4starlight theyre okay but their style is not for everyone. Fleet foxes is more flexible with their audience I think:3

  • @TheLebowski5 thank you!!

  • @TheLebowski5 I have to say I like them both as much, but I respect your opinion, I'm not going to start throwing hate comments at you =P

  • @TheLebowski5 i agree man, mumford and sons are alright but these guys have more substance to their lyrics. they have more depth

  • @TheLebowski5 man just shut up, both are the shit. and i cant wait to find other bands just like these and enjoy them too

  • @TheLebowski5 I haven't heard mumford and sons... I shall, and I hope they are good... But it's really hard to beat helpnessless bules

  • i love how people listen to this and they leave these romantic extremely insightful and thoughtful comments, i guess Fleet Foxes just have that effect on everyone

  • is there a "invisible" option for yuotube comments?

  • tears of recognition, of everything... hello again, self.

thanks for being you, thanks for being me.

  • I just saw them in Ann Arbor and anxiously awaited the sound of that jangly guitar that sounds like the waves, the opening harmonies and the slamming of the acoustic...when it began, I nearly burst from emotion. This song makes you really feel like you're on this wave and Robin's voice is carrying you. All of their music is beautiful and it was great show...and I just want to hug all of you people who keep their music alive because it does need to stay that way. Keep listening!

  • dooope heard of them when they played on letterman like a week ago

  • This song is just...sublime

  • My boyfriend took me to Jacksonville to see them. It was the best birthday present ever!!! They sound fantastic live.

  • I see them in four days! I'm stoked!

  • I live in Louisville! cant wait to see them in concert!!!! yayay sooo excited:)

  • Just beautiful, I could smoke to this...;)

  • PREKRASNO! Just beautiful, love FF so much...:)

Robin is an amazing lyricist as well :)

  • Super!

  • Isn't this section for all comments positive and negative? Or did I mistake where it says All Comments and not just Positive ones? I enjoy the group very much but people are entitled to there own opinions.

  • I wrote a long paragraph because i felt angry about your unneeded comment. i listen to this amazing music like the others commenting to you. they agree that the fleet foxes are great. if you disagree thats great. go take it somewhere else. and i heard ears are on sale at target ;)

  • @mattma2195 If he doesn't like it, that's his good right. Just ignore him and enjoy this piece of music I'd say ^^.

  • Listening to this song when it's a nice day out while riding in the car with the sunroof and windows down is amazing.

  • @rg813 wow you have no taste in music. the fleet foxes make absolutely beautiful music and they use harmonies that you can't always find with out autotune. they are real and talented musicians. the have their own original sound, and their acoustics are great sounding! so even if your not into their music, then just mind your own fucking business, because no one cares for your rude comments here. maybe if you hate them so much you shouldn't be watching this video. get a life

  • @mattma2195 its funny you say "get a life". i said three words and you gave me a paragraph

  • @rg813 it's called passion

  • @rg813 No, YOU SUCK!

  • @rg813 Please,do my a favour,buy yourself a couple of ears...

  • @mauca27 no thanks, i'd rather listen to lil b or something

  • @rg813 Obvious troll is obvious.

  • I LOVE THIS ALBUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Something about this song that's so magical.

  • super...thank you for this moment of sharing

  • So much class. Life is ment to be lived not watched!

  • I am Literally Speechless

  • this is fantastic music.

  • This was the song I played just before my viva. It gives a feeling of possibility - a now or never state of mind. For a life changing event, it was perfect sound to go into a discussion on my work that had taken me 8 years to write.

  • Their music is a beautiful landscape unto itself, my mind crreates it's own nature video to this song! Having recently been to some incredible lush National Parks in the State of Washington, I have plenty of visuals to choose from! This song haunts me!

  • it feels like im in where the wild things are :D

  • @tristanblanded fuck you man, I tought the same shit

  • @tristanblanded i always read the comments, then one always ruins the song for me! XO

  • @tristanblanded Same here ♥♥

  • @tristanblanded OMG YES. Fleet foxes always reminded me of where the wild things are but i could never put my finger on what type of "style" it is. Kind of like bleak fantasy. ya know?

  • @tristanblanded I loved this song before but you just made it 10 times better for me

  • me likeeee.....

  • The flutes make me want them to do the theme of Bewitched in concert. :P

  • In my opinion, they are the best folk band and this is the best album they' ve created, such a beautiful music, keep the good music alive :)

  • i love you fleet foxesss :)>)

  • I've been sitting here trying to think of a "cool comment" for this song for about 2 minutes now. Then i realized word's can do no justice.

  • it makes you feel like your looking out over the great plains, and then running full across them without stopping.

  • This song opened their set at Pitchfork2011. I don't know if you play in a band or are a musician, but this just about trumps everything out there in the music world. If you are a drummer, playing this beat is easy--it's a march. But all the rest of what the drummer does is incredibly difficult. Pure poetry. Destroyer of Worlds.

  • i can not respect this drumbeat

  • The 3 people who dislike this song weren't hugged enough when they were babies!

  • laurenemque, you're just as contrived as this song. this sucks. I wish I was surprised at this downhill turn of fleet foxes, but it's like, this it what one should expect from a faux-folk band from seattle. lol

  • @fridayafternoons1 Don't hate.

  • sounds like winning

  • Comment removed

  • Does this song make anyone else wanna run barefoot at dawn through a huge open field, damp with dew, so fast your lungs feel like they're gonna burst? And as you pick up momentum you suddenly sprout wings and take to the sky?... or is that just me?

  • @laurenemque actually, that's exactly what i was thinking...

  • @laurenemque You are my hero.

  • @Thethebeatlesbeatles love you!

  • @laurenemque What took you so long to get up there?

  • @laurenemque no, no it's not just you! XD

  • @laurenemque I know what you mean, this song is quite interesting.

  • @laurenemque

    dot dot fucking dot

  • @laurenemque I feel exactly like that but its like your running through the open hill till you reach the cliff nd just jump as you descend downwards you spread out your wings nd begin to soar over the open sea

  • @MrSlightlyHigh That's beautiful! That's exactly what I mean. You just HAVE to move. You HAVE to fly.

  • @laurenemque your amazing !

  • @ZLOVEDREAMS Thank you! Well, actually thank FF. They're the geniuses. They're the ones that bring up all these feelings in just one four and a half minute song and yet it can mean something totally different to so many people. THAT'S amazing :) To me anyway...

  • @laurenemque That was the best comment ive ever read on youtube!! Haha

  • @pixiefloyd aww thank you pixie :)

  • @laurenemque yeah dude im high off my ass too

  • @laurenemque I think I just found the only way to describe Fleet Foxes with words. 0_0

  • @cloud6060 they are amazing aren't they :)

  • @laurenemque They really are. :)

  • @laurenemque I w ill run with some beautiful naked woman !!

  • @laurenemque you're amazing.

  • @ADazzledDazzle thanks :)

  • THIS PERSON BELOW ME DON'T KNOW WHAT MUSIC IS! lol

  • lol you call this sub pop. Thanks tonysnoize for comparing fleet foxes with kesha and all that other new non sense.

  • @HaydenLegit Sub Pop is their label.

  • @HaydenLegit Sub Pop is their record label.

  • By far one of the most amazingly beautifull albums !! THANK YOU FOR YOUR MUSIC FLEET FOXES

  • Fleet Foxes "Grown Ocean" is featured on Indie/Rock Playlist: June (2011) theindierockplaylistdotcom

  • YES. marry me, fleet foxes.

  • thank you so much for the uploading the music. i love you TonysNoize! <3

  • did someone really state that these guys are doing a burger king advert..?

if so instead, they should do a fox burger promotion, thats available. but only briefly..!

this however would offend well firstly the fox an then folks who dont do meet..

i just fancy the notion theyd only promote something obscure like a kinda anti advert.

mind you they have a big pack to feed, needs must an all...

  • This song never fails to etch a smile upon my face.

  • just back from seeing them in nyc....what an incredible show.

  • This band is really good at making you like their music!

  • While their first album had more of a dream-like quality this one does less transcending away from troubles and more settling into reality. There's been some hoopla about this album being more boring, but really, I think sometimes people don't want to listen to music to hear about the deeper side of the human mind which most often, does not involve resilient states of happiness. Scuse the paragraph, just had to express my oppinion to the world of youtube.

  • @gbcktbug - no need to scuse your paragraph; your comments are quite valid. I'm just about to investigate the first album, since i've discovered this band in reverse order. I'll keep what you said in mind & see if i agree.

  • @uKooKu deal! hope you like it as much as I do :)

  • @uKooKu The first album was definitely better, but this one is awesome too. I think the first one had better lyrics and harmonies. Look for the song Oliver James off of that one. Also, their EP Sun Giant was top notch too. I'm sure you have heard Mykonos off of it before. Their first Ep is good too, but its more pop oriented. If you are looking for any other bands of this type Grizzly Bear is pretty damn good too.

  • i heard the fleet foxes are doing a Burger King commercial with this song.

  • @TheMistermuppet : would be the least-related commercial song ever haha.

  • i think this song is brilliant and i like the sound of their new album. i do not think they sound like they are imitating themselves, just a slightly different vibe

  • Bring on Summer!!!

  • @samhtheman909 My thoughts exactly!

  • You know, this might just be my impression, but it sounds like they are trying to immitate their own sound. It sounds weird, but like, it doesn't have that feel that Sun Giants had, where it was THEIR sound, not a reproduction of it, like listening to old Kings of Leon vs new Kings of Leon. Granted in this case that the worst of Fleet Foxes is still 500 billion times better than the best of Kings of Leon.

  • @IvonoftheGWF

Totally agree you. Its like they have kept the elements they are known for and impressed them on the songs. The songs don't feel organic but rather like they know their sound and have written to showcase that rather than the songs could stand on their own without the trappings. I need to listen a to them a lot more and let it wash over me but they sound like the song remains but the melody has left them?

  • @mcf59 Yeah, it's like in their first album, they were writing about the town they live in, and in this album, they are writing about the town they used to live in, as if they still live there even though they don't. if you know what I mean. It's like like instead of sounding like themselves, they sound like Fleet Foxes. And yeah, the Melody, and even the instrumental diversity seems to be missing. And those were the things I loved most about them.

  • @IvonoftheGWF I noticed this too. Some of their first melodies were like haunting dirges, so striking and memorable you couldn't shake them off. Like something a little genre-defying straggler band would sing around a campfire. I suppose they've learned which boxes to tick to attract people. I miss them when they didn't have to tick any.

  • @IvonoftheGWF Would I be in danger of offending if I say that what they are missing this time is some good old fashioned "hooks". Some melodic phrases that resonate like Mykonos or Winter Hymnal. I'm gonna give the album time to sink in a bit but right now I agree it's a little flat. The old sophmore album curse, I guess.

  • @terrybeaton Fleet Foxes wanted this album to sound less "poppy" (read: melodic) for a reason. They didn't want to fall into the routine of generating melody after melody that would encapsulate anyone and everyone. They don't want to be that band that gives the audience what the audience wants. They want their sound to grow and develop and resonate amongst old fans but delve into territory that's unfamiliar to them.

  • This....this is music!

  • The slide guitar reminds me of a track from Polmo Polpo called Sky Histoire. Grogeous

  • best song on the album...and that's quite the feat

  • There's a bit of Sigur ros in this song. Can't wait may 7th Hollywood palladium

  • I love this song, its super awesome!

  • Zero people have no dreams :P

  • Fooooooooooooooooooooooooooook meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, what a song and what a fooooooooooooooooooooooooooooookin album!!!!!!!

  • best song on the album. amazing.

  • @Handit lol is the album even out yet? if you got any inside info, lemme know

  • @TTOPSIE the album got leaked before the release date but the band isn't to mad about it because people are still going to buy it when it comes out

  • @TTOPSIE Been available on illegal download for week or two, get with the times man, LOL.

  • @kingofweedswood 3 weeks friend, 3 weeks, hahaha. >:)

  • this sould be in a coke commercial

  • @TheBeandip13 Never.

  • Comment removed

  • @zachkorolgold why not? Coke is nice. This is nice. Perfect together :p

  • @fabledpilgrim lol sorry i was really tired and you're not stupid. i just meant that robin pecknold is anti-advertising, in his hipster way.

  • @zachkorolgold lol it wasn't me who put the first comment. Yer I get you though :p

  • LOVELOVELOVELOVE

  • so tempted to download the album right now but i am pretty sure i can wait another two weeks to get it on vinyl. will the band see a whole lot of the money from album sales? probably not, but anyone not doing their part to support music like this is a jabroni.

  • @nevermeant12 Jabroni... Cool word.
