i wish i was back there , when all i could hear was this music at the broad street disco , so young, so free no problems to worry about. music dancing girls, and the great smell of brut! yeh splash it all over.
Damn, isn't there any tune that youtube doesn't have? I've still got this on vinyl; brings back happy memories.
I remember people doing a dance move called "the rock" to this.
One of the first tunes that set me on the path to being a funkateer.....which took me in the direction of that George Clinton/Parliament Funkadelica thang!!
my mate did this build up dance to an almighty spin to the wooooooo bit, he lost balance and crashed into the table of people and drinks. east cliff disco isle of wight on our hols, circa 1979 or there abouts lol
Disco music baby, all da' way ! It never died, just people said it's time to renovate or die, trouble is, house music came along wwith its various diversions along the way and simply got confused . Play real funky disco music and you can see why DISCO NEVER DIED !!!!
So I'm at a local disco in 1977/78 - it's somebody's party or reception. I love this song, so I ask the DJ if he has it. He says yes, but if he plays it, will I dance? He'll hold me to it he says. Of course, I say, expecting that something so funky will get everybody up and boogying. So the song starts, and nobody moves! The DJ is looking at me expectantly. So I get up and dance. And I can't dance. And I'm a 19-year old out-moded hippie! Still, I enjoyed myself!
TO: Port, Enjoy it my homeboy... I know u can relate with this. I love this jam. How young were we like 8 yrs young I believe & we were still enjoying this classic gem!
While we were on our rollerskates, grandma boogie was doing her thang... LOL
This is real Music...Real bands, Lower East Side Baruch Projects Style. There's no other like real 70 & 80's bands. The break to this album is just sick.
One of the best disco traks in the world - if you dont listen to this trak full on and cannot appriaciate it's depth and funk then I don't know what....
Makes my feet and heart go big time... love it love it for ever :)
the first funky record heard. it was in a soundtrack of a tacky italian movie. i hired it for some titties shown, but this track got me hooked on real music, thx
this song still sets a dance floor on fire, but back in the day, the whole building would explode when this track when into the percussion break & b4 the bass line hit dj's with skills used to back it up to that hard ass measure just b4 the percussion hit again & the room would roar. but my favorite part is the mid section starting at about 4:20 when they just repeat the chorus & the lead singers is givin' call & response adlib! i can't take it. my head crack'd open & my brains r pouring out...
At The Steps in Philly, the DJ would start this off with the drum section, then when that finished, cut back to the beginning. Nobody was seated when this song was playing and the very walls were shaking.
if I'm not mistaken, this was the first disco 12' released. (so I was told at the time?)

Anyone know how the lead synth sound at 6.20 is made? I would love to use this sound on some of my sax house tracks. One of the best disco tracks ever - was so innovative at the time.
North Side Chi-town! Bananas Disco on Clark street.. New Years eve...we worked our bodies down!! Later T-connection came out with some real smooth songs...but this was their first...and it was funky and disco at the same time....anybody remember "The Best Of My Love" they SMOKED that!!
THIS IS FCKN GREAT. I had this song by the Cage ft. Nona Hendriks. does annyone have it . its faster and more raw but still the Tconnection signature in it
1977 - wendy hunt spinning at 1270 and bostonboston clubs. playing this on two and sometimes three turntables ... unbelievable. IMO, just one of the funkiest, rockin'est, highest energy early fusion dance tunes of the day. and there were many, many great songs to groove within the late 70's. folks who lump it all under the 'disco' heading are missing the nuance, seems to me. thanks for posting this recording!
