  • HE IS SOOOOO UGLEH

  • I loved him, he was perfect

  • I honestly don't care what he looks like all i care is that he had the qualities that the book revealed me too which are:

    -Jokingly cruel sense of humor

    -Good sarcastic sense of humor

    -Secret soft side

-Knows how to handle any situation in a calm manner

    -Amazingly Amazing <3

Thumbs up if you agree! :)

  • I say JCR was great as Larten. I know these comments are from awhile back, but I was really skeptical about anyone living up to the greatest Vampire of all, but after seeing John C. Reilly I knew he could do it. I can't wait for another Cirque du Freak to come out.

  • I think he did a really really great job. I imagined Mr. Crepsley far from his image, but he did his role very well. His version of Mr. Crepsley is also amazing. It was good. Very Excellent.

  • he done a excelent job with it i think he was perfect

  • he was perfect for it duh

  • personally i loved John C Reilly as Mr Larten Crepsley, he portrayed the character well, and when people get an image of the character in their head its pretty hard for the actr to live up to peoples expectations, so all things considering he did an amazing job.

  • I thought he was GREAT! I like JCR's Crepsley more than the book. He had attractive features in my opinion, and had a sense of humor. Love him to death ^_^.

  • I have to admit that Reilly did a better job than I expected, but he's still not Crepsley. If there was ever going to be a parody made of CdF then he could be in it. But for this movie I would have liked someone like Anthony hopkins better.

  • jcr i can see why peaple think hes not fit for the role but i do think hes perfect he is a wonderfull acter and hes the one i was just like fasinated by the role he played.

  • @gummieliam He is

  • I think hes perfect for the role brilliant acter congratz

  • he is awesome and totally deserved the job

  • He did a fantastic job!

  • Oh, come on, guys, I thought John C. Reilly was okay......

  • As for me, when I saw the movie I had no idea about the books, and I totally loved the movie and John C.Reilly as Mr.Crepsley. He was funny and nice, loved his character. Although I still love it, I've already read the books becuz of the movie, and now I can understand why some wouldn't like him as crepsley. He is different in the books, like the whole plot...I love the movie, and I love the books, but they are totally different. I treat it as an invididual film, and it's great this way.

  • I agree in the books creply was a fun but serious role in the books and i can see why peaple dont think hes right for the part

  • Okay..coming from someone who has watched the film...I thought JCR did amazing in this film...I was also very hesitant about the decision to cast him but in my opinion his performance was the best part of the film.

  • Kewl! I saw it the first time it showed at my theater and I thought he was amazing!! Still remains to be my favorite actor! ^_^

  • John C. Reilly is terrible for larten crepsley. He's the complete opposite. He's supposed to be, tall, lanky, DECENT looking with orange hair. but thats just my thought, please dont be offended anyone. :)

  • As I've said plenty of times, this video is for opinions. There's no right or wrong. =]

  • i am very upset with John C Reilly playing the part of Mr. Crepsley. i just do not think he will bring the best out of him, Mr. Crepsley is such an important role in these books and he is always taken very seriously. also he does not look the part. Mr. Crepsley in my image is rugged looking and a little rough around the edges, tall and built. not necessarily good looking but he has a certain look that John C Reilly i do not think can ever pull off. but thats just me! thanks

    ~Danielle

  • Thanks to you too! I The whole point of the video was so I could hear others opinions. Thanks for putting support behind the answer. =] It's better when people when people state why they don't like the choice instead of just saying no.

  • @dmvprice15 actually Mr.Crepsley copies the dress style of his former master Seba Nile, who wore an all red version of traditional vampire clothing. So therefore even though the movie got way too many facts wrong about the book (grits teeth) they did get the clothing somewhat right.

PS- Sorry if you feel offended its just a HUGE fan talking! :)

  • So NOT perfect, i think the castings in the film are really bad, i loved the books but am completley disgusted by the movie ):

  • Well in the trailor you can already tell

this movie is going to be more comedic

    than the book was..

I'm still pretty pissed John C Reilly is going to Mr. Crepsley..

I pictured him more handsome and fit.

Not like sexy or hot or anything just not

    so.. not attractive.

anyway, the movie looks alright so far.

Even if it does bomb, I'm going to buy it.

    <3

  • I always thought that Paul Bettany would be perfect for the role if they dyed his hair ginger.

  • ugh I hate the fact that John C. Reilly is playing this part.

I really hope this movie bombs so no one has to interpret Mr. Crepsley the way they show him in this movie.

feel free to thumb me down, I just, as a fan, am disappointed.

  • i was very angry when i found out that Reilly was playing Larten. it makes the book seem like more of a joke now. i pictured Alan Cumming. i know that he isnt very popular but his l;ook and attitude is perfect.

  • I think John C Reilly is PERFECT for the roll as Larten, he's just like I imagined!!

  • I think Richard Roxburgh should play Mr. Crepsley in the Cirque Du Freak movie. As many others know he as experience in vampire movies for example in Van Helsing he played the part of Dracula and I think he would make an excellent Mr. Crepsley

  • u never no this culd test his acting like daniel radcliffe doing tht play to see if he culd actually act, culd be the sme to see if john c reily can do a good serious role rather than comedy. i think he looks gud tho and will do a gud job

  • He did many serious roles before he did any comedy...So I guess this could test to see if he can still do serious roles. I'm pretty sure he'll pull it off though.

  • he looks nothing like larten, and debbie is white in this film wtf is up with that

  • Ik. I don't like the Debbie thing either. They changed her whole character! She's not even Debbie anymore., She's Rebbeca. =[

And I read on this one site that she meets Darren an the Cirque and not where she does in the book...

  • this might be a good film but the things in it will bug me ill prob end up correcting the whole film to my friends, i would like to see a Demonata movie.

  • do you know how many books are

going to be in this movie?

Is it just the one or are they doing like

three to every film or something ?

  • They started out saying the first three were in the movie, but we were just informed about a month or so ago that it's the first three and a little bit of four.

If they continue, I would guess they would put three books per movie. Not sure though.

  • Haha. I'll be doing that too. like the whole Debbie/Rebbeca and Cormac thing. =]

A demonata movie would ba AMAZING! They'd have to use a lot of CGI though.

  • I personally think that John C. Reily is more of a comedy actor. He is a great actor but hes more funny than dramatic, but you never do know for sure. Who knows mabye hell turn out to be the best larten ever!!!! Im personally excited fir the movie!!!!!!!!

  • o god this is my favorite series of all time. by far. first of all im just glad they decided to make a movie. and second of all i think john reilly will do a great job. he really does look perfect for the role

  • I love ur comment! =]

  • the problem is in his hair!!!!! And he should look more wily!!! thats my option...

  • Have you seen the eairlier half of his career??? He doesn't do just comedy and in his more dramatic roles, even if they were a small part in a movie, he was recognized as one of the better actors in the the movie.

  • John C. Reilly is a good actor but he is just not right for the part of mr crepsley in this movie

oh yea by the way in the movie what books are in it?

  • whenever i read books i imagine the characters in my head and see people that i have seen or know in my life and for me mr.crepsley is the guy from cash cab! LOL

  • Has the movie come out yet?

  • nope, not yet... =[

It's said to come out on Jan. 15, 2010, but you never know. It may change again...

  • i'm gonna give him a chance ... i think everyone deserves a chance and i think he could pull it off

  • Though he's dosent fit with my image of the charactor, i suppose he could pull it off. My problem is with the hair and makup department, it says SHORT CROP OF HAIR, the guys hair on that picture looks like an afro!

  • NO NO NO MR CREPSLEY HAS LONG HAIR AND A SCAR Evana GAVE HIM In a fUnny way

  • I thought they said he had a SHORT crop of hair... maybe not...

As I said before, I pay attention to the acting more than the looks.

  • he did have short cropped hair

  • he does have short cropped orange hair xD

  • Short hair and alot more skinny than this guy..but i think he might be able to get across the softer side of mr crepsley x

  • No! lol he cannot be mr crepsley, lol.

  • I have to say he is not the actor I had in mind. He is anamazing actor but in my opinon he is more of a comedy actor. But you never know. He could surprise us and be a great Mr.Crepsley. We just have to give him a chance and see what happens

  • thats exactly what i was gonna say! omg! yeah i think that his appearance is pretty close to me expectations, but when i first found it he was playing mr. c, i was kinda like, "oh hes more comedy and laughs, and mr creplsey is SO serious lol"

  • He better not screw this part up i am surprised they even let him have the job

  • He deserved the job.... and anyway, I don't think he wants to be known for just comedic roles.

  • @Squirrel36 i agree

  • Uh.

    your kidding me right??

    wow. just..wow..

i'm gonna have to say no on this one lol.

Hes a great actor, but theres other people out there who can portray mr. crepsley better:)

  • yeah but we judge him cause we read the book who didn't maybe will have another opinion

  • very true =]

  • I think he'll screw it all up, WHAT A LOSER!

  • I think he's perfect, only problem is he is a bit larger than the Mr. Cresply described but I don't think that really matters. He's described as an ugly man with a short crop of hair and thats John C. Reilly exactly

  • i always thought of Mr.Crepsley of a buff hot guy with a scar on his face

  • But he is described as ugly and never said to be buff at all xD

  • Comment removed

  • Ya, ik

but they're only doing three books for each movie, nobodies ganna have to worry about tht until the third movie...=[

  • OH CMON U SPOILED TO BOOK FOR ME

  • SRRY!

I didn't mean to do tht...

I'll put tht there's a spoiler in the description so tht doesn't happen to others

    I'm really srry =/

  • i'm realy sorry!

but its more than that! u'll see when u are there... i removed my mess. what book are u at now? i'm at 11 book 10 is not intressing...

  • Thanks fr taking the comment off. =]

I'm going to keep tht warning on there though, just in case someone else puts down a spoiler.

    Thanks again!

  • I'm not sure about the choice...I mean in a way he is actually completly perfect to play Larten but I still think they chould have choose someone else, it just dosn't feel right.

  • I think the way he looks (besides the hair, even though it is does kinda fit) is perfect for him.

If he can get the personality that goes with Larten, then i think he will be perfect. =]

  • tough call. i once thought heath ledger would suck as the joker....i was dead wrong.

  • NO JUST NO JUST NO JUST NO JUST NO.

  • You know, I think John C. Reilly do an amazing job portraying Mr. Crepsley, but they could at least make Reilly look like him! Better yet, cast someone who looks the part. Even BETTER they should have read the book! Mr. Crepsley DOES NOT HAVE AN AFRO. GET IT OUT OF YOUR HEADS. I can't believe I had to point that out.

  • lol.

i agree! I think John C. Reilly is really good for the part. I think the afro's pretty kewl. Though it would have been better to make the hair as it was in the books...

I'm not even sure if they put the scar on him. I can see something on his face, but idk if it's a scar.

  • Wait, what? I didn't say the afro's a good thing...

THE AFRO IS A BAD THING.

  • Idk. I like him ... but not for the role of the wonderful and loved dear MR. LARTEN CREPSLEY. But thats just my view on things. Btw whats the song?

  • Thnx fr the commenet!

The song is called Shadow of the day by Linkin Park. =]

  • I think he can pull it off too. I want to see this so bad, just because he is in it, lol. I think it is a surprise but a good one. I like to see actors/actresses play apart in a movie that you never would of thought would happen. And it usually comes out well, because that is acting!

Plus I love is hair :D

  • I like seeing actors play roles they normally wouldn't too. I've seen him in some serious movies already, but he just seems like a more comical actor. IK about the hair. i love it too! lol

According to the book, it was supposed to be a short patch of hair on his head, but that hair looks good too.

  • When I first heard that he was going to take the roll I almost blew the top of my head off with surprise but come to think about it, he may not fit in the image of most people's Larten Crepsley, but I think it'll be a better film if you had an expirienced actor who you could call the BEST for an important roll like this. With a good stlysit in hollywood, I think the outside's not a big problem as the main part, the acting. I'm sure we can trust Chris Reily 100percent that he'll succeed :D

  • i agree because msot ppl that look like"Mr. Crepsley wont be fitted to act him.. so we will see

  • i think hes going to do good considering he shocked me in Chicago.

I didnt like him at first until i saw the pic. I think that most people wont like him cause he doesnt look like the ideal mr crepsley they had in their head but thats my opinion

  • I didn't know he could be ina movie without being in atleast one comical scene but he did in that movie. Your opinion is the same as mine.

  • I'm one of the people who know's John C. Reilly can pull off playing Mr.Crepsley! =]
