  • So why isn't he shooting a 22lr 1911 then? It's cheaper, less recoil and all the other crap he said.

  • Man I want free ammo too..

  • To me an M1911 that is not in .45 if blasphemy.

  • As soon as Springfield comes around to the .40 caliber, which is faster and harder hitting, we'll buy one or two. The .40 cal out preforms all other calibers, but why they don't make it is beyond us? Oh well, we'll for now stay with Sig pistols, they seem to understand this caliber.

    Best regards

  • nbdavis

if you know that the second 45 is going into the air, why bother to shoot it ? Just make sure you hit him well with the FIRST SHOT

  • I'd rather hit a guy with 2 rounds of 9x19 than one .45 and one .45 in the air.

  • why would you use a 9 when a .45 is going to bring more hurt to those steel plates? people just need to recognize.

  • The thing the shittalkers aren't understanding is that Rob's audience are competitive shooters.

  • a 9 is still not a 45

  • @johnptc No offense but if one of those rounds hit you center mass you really wouldn't know the difference.

  • The .45 acp is to the 1911 as to what the 9mm is to the glock...

  • That "puss" is a 16 time national single stack champion...

  • So according to this guy I should just get a 22lr to shoot better, recoil = fun

  • i can shoot so much fucking better after this i cant believe it!!!!!

  • LOL

  • a 1911 in 9mm is sacrilege

  • @Alexn1067 THANK YOU

  • Duh , why didn't I think of that

  • so where the fuck is the tip??

  • @GSSRT8 that was the tip. (shooting 9mm: cheaper, less fatigue, more accurate) guess you missed it.

  • Kick isn't a problem for me with the .45. If it is so important, then go with the 9mm. I like to have the option of punching big holes if the need arises.

  • its 2011 not 1911.

  • I'm sorry, but a 9mm 1911 is just plain sacrilegious. John M. Browning would roll over in his grave if he found out about this

  • @sasquatch4liffee I don't believe he did any rolling when he designed the hi-power in 9mm

  • @O1toolsteel the only reason the Browning Hi-Power was chambered in 9mm was because the French told him thats what they wanted in their pistol. And then he had to design it around all the 1911 patents because he sold the rights to the design to Colt. The Hi-Power is only very loosely designed after the 1911

  • 9mm does not kill shit 45 cal is bad ass and will takes 2 shots to kill some one. when 9mm yes you have more shots in the mag but it takes more rounds to kill.

  • @Dylan10188

No, it's all about shot placement.

  • @Dylan10188 A 9mm round will still kill if you put it somewhere it counts. Yes, .45 has more stopping power, but if I poke three holes in somebody's chest with a 9mm I believe they'll stop what they're doing...

  • @Dylan10188 youre a clown. this isnt call of duty, this is real life. one shot from a 9mm will still drop a grown-ass man just as easily as any other caliber. penetration, stopping power, etc, doesn't matter if youre shooting a person close range

  • @Dylan10188 Go back to playing Call of Duty, ask your mom for a juice box and some chips, and leave the real guns to the big boys

  • @TheDubDoubt haahhaha kid how old are you like 45 you are a old man so go in a f**king hole and die ass hole okay i have a real fire arms jack ass i have a 45 acp a 22mm rife and 9mm its okay i guess but my fav is AK47....... made bye the best gun maker in the world kalashnikov.... so old man you say i play call of duty ya here and there not much. but do you want to play capture the flag so when i get the flag i can stick it up your ass ... hahahahhah.. so get a life and leave me alone....

  • @TheDubDoubt i bet you live with your mom and dad still nerd. you talk shit okay kid.. o look what time it is time for you to go get a life and a job and don't say you do i now you don't.. and you are right yo are a big boy a fat ass bitch .... LOL XD

  • @Dylan10188 I have a full time job, hot girlfriend that lives with me, 3 bedroom house, car paid off, 55" sony bravia, money in the bank, 5'10 170 lbs... what now fag?

  • @TheDubDoubt hahahah so... but your still talking to me get a life leave me only ass hole

  • @TheDubDoubt Good for you. Sounds like you got it made. So why are you arguing with some idiot online? Go enjoy your life dude.

  • @TheDubDoubt I feel sad for you.

  • Umm.....where were the tips?

  • @LaRueDeeko There's no tips...Just 9mm vs 45 comparison...Nothing new...Get tips from Todd Jarrett or hickok45...

  • @kennytt10

    I agree.

Or Clint Smith. He has some okay free content on here. They make you pay top dollar for his good stuff.

    There's also Massad Ayoob.

  • i didnt learn any shooting tips from this video :(

  • Competition shooting? 1911 clambered in 9mm... Home defense?...1911in .45 A.C.P. you'll sleep better......Semper-fi!...

  • Great video :) but you forgot to mention, a 9mm won't stop a 300 lb. Bad guy dead in his tracks with one round :)

  • @DARKALIEN556 It will if you shoot him in the face! LOL...

  • @DARKALIEN556 The "one round stop" every time is a myth. I have spent my life in Emergency Medicine and also doing autopsies. 9mm and 45 are very close to the same thing. The damage done is very similar. If you want to see a big difference, compare a 9mm/45 ......AND...... a high powered rifle/shotgun.

Also, many gun experts (such as Rob Pincus and MANY others) will tell you that "one shot stop all the time" is a myth!

  • thanks rob, thats why i pack 9mm too!!!!

  • Only good for range, recreation and vault. For 1911s stick with a .45.

  • What shooting tips?

  • "If you're not getting your ammo for free, like I am"

All I can say is "Asshole!"

  • 9mm for a 1911 is like tits on a bull

  • i was shot six times with a 9mm if it was shot with a 45acp i would not be hear

  • thumbs up if you thought this guys voice was deeper

  • @whoyouuu was like what? then he starts shooting and i check out his other vids. i hear talking deeper now.

  • @whoyouuu that was the first thing i thaught

  • This video...

    So disappoint, son.

  • 45 vs 9mm Stopping power vs Fire Power. I prefer more rounds down range with more accuracy and more chances for accurate shots. 9mm HP is effective.

JK: What do you do when you see your wife staggering?

    Shoot her again.

  • I wanted shooting tips from Rob Leatham, and all I learned was that I need to get rid of my sweet 1911 and find a 9mm.

  • @1027sterling hell no u dont. 9mm has more of a chance of going through the enemy and hitting someone innocent. stick with the 45

  • A few comments for you HUSNAIN67: first: great pacing in your video (a lot of people seem asleep in their vid's but you are in "real time" ) it makes for a very enjoyable video. Second: Great contant, thank you for posting tips for us to be better shooters. Last, your a heck of a shot. I hope your tips get me to 1/2 as good as you.

  • I'm 13. How can I get a gun? One that doesn't shoot water...

  • @l3ukia Dip shit

  • @l3ukia sry u can't, unless it's an airsoft. Maybe u can get that :)

  • @l3ukia ask your parents to take you to a shooting range and rent some guns

  • not really a shooting tip but it is true, more like a gun comparison

  • who gives a crap, .45, 45. not like it matters, leave the kid alone and stop being so anal.

  • thats strange because i have a gock(tupperware), and a cz 97(steel), and i cant tell the difference in recoil. same caliber same recoil. the polymer frame flexes and helps to absorb recoil, and the weight of the steel frame soaks up alot of the recoil. the difference is not that important. i wouldnt hesitate to grab any pistol i own in a defensive situation, regardless of caliber, because i know they all work. with premium loads no major caliber is found wanting.

  • Shooting tips?.........What part of the video had the tips?

  • sounds like nothing he looks

  • i shoot 9mm for cost factor, plus its easier to come across

  • the 45 is better then a 9mm

  • @Ls3guy the glock is better anyway

  • @Ls3guy I heard a black guy raped someone cause they shot him in the head witha 9mm and he just raped them anyway.

  • "Oh 9mm does have stopping power!"....shoot them in the head then. Note that's where Rob's shots were hitting the steel :)

Also, everybody knows something worth shooting is worth shooting until the magazine is empty!!!

  • thing is this isnt hard 2 shoot?

  • im really not wanting to bet my life on the 9 mm having enough stopping power. i know the .45 works, and the kick can be compensated for with training.

  • I'm not particularly interested in participating in the flying homophobic discussion and further hesitate if this is the correct forum/thread for your clever elaborations. However I do wish to point out the reality between a polymer frame (a.k.a. tupperware) and a steel frame 1911. In reality the steel frame kicks less, optional get a 1911 with full length frame, even heavier'n less recoil add heavier recoil rod (tungstone). 9mm has a puny & snappy recoil due 2 faster velocity. .45 heavy'n slo

  • around what year did the 1911's start chambering in 9mm

  • @arkangel8419

The 9mm Luger cartridge came late to the epoch of the 1911 pistol. Colt didn't really get serious about it until a few years after WWII, when the U.S. military first considered a 9mm pistol compatible with the ammunition of its European allies. Colt experimented with aluminum frames and the 19x9 cartridge in full-size and compact 1911 s, the latter becoming the famous Commander.

  • Ok... I don't mean to offend anyone here. And I will start by saying that I own 3 9mm pistols (2 Sig Sauer's and a Keltec) I just have to say that a 9mm "1911" is NOT a real 1911! Call me a 1911 afacianado (no I'm not sure I spelled that right but at least I admit it lol) But Browning's design was chambered for the .45 ACP. If you want a 9mm just don't get a 1911! It's as simple as that. Like I said, I have 2 Sigs and I like them very much. But a 9mm 1911 is like a 4 cylinder muscle car...

  • @mattxr2i lol very well put, but while i kinda feel like u do some people like it, ifeel that its a bit much of a gun for 9mm but i shoot a lot of compations & it seems a lot of older guys that grew up on 1911's switch it up to the 9mm due to price of ammo or older age

  • 45. has more stopping power

  • @MrFarface10118 its a .45 and the 9mm will drop some1 just as well, not that u need that for shooting recreation, your lack of knowledge is apparent. Stop trying to act like u know shit

  • @wallieburger yes but a 45. will do more damage to a person when it hits them i know that you dont need damage when are target practicing but if its a self defence firearm u want something that will take down that person quicker and hell im just 14 im pretty sure i know more than other 14 year olds so stop hating

  • @MrFarface10118 for the last time its a .45 not a "45." u have any idea how big of a caliber a 45. would be? anyway if your using it as a self defense weapon 9mm would be better, its cheaper, smaller, and it would stop a normal guy just as well as a .45. a .45 is more of a decorative gun, although if I was to carry a sidearm into battle I would definitely take a .45 over the standard issue barretta anyday. Btw a pistol for self defense works just as well if u just point it at them

  • @wallieburger sooo sorry i called it a fucking 45. i didnt mean to piss u off in anyway but u have no life if ur gonna argue to a fucking 14 year old over some fucking lame ass gun that either one of us will ever shoot in are lifetime

  • @MrFarface10118 hmm well im going into the marines in a bit and I hope to get to shoot one of these

  • @wallieburger well i respect that so good luck

  • @wallieburger real intelligent argue wit ha 14 year old. just to let u know i am blocking ujust on principle, but ur a fuckin moron.

  • @arkangel8419 im 16, and who the fuck r u why should I give two shits about you ignoring me? lawl

  • Can I have free ammo?

  • It never hurts to have both!

  • good to know

  • I'm glad your ammo is free! Thanks for the shooting tip.

  • This is not a shooting tip. Its a convert to 9mm video if you cant find or afford 45ACP.

  • I'm a weird. I shoot a 45 better than a 9 ( both Glocks ). The way I percieve things are that the 9 shoots higher & to the right because the supersonic bullet spins like a top. Also, 9 recoil feels kind of torquey to me. Like holding a doorknob that somebody on the other side is trying to turn. The low $ I agree with.

  • @oeyesea If anyone shoots alot, they will be reloading, which will change the way the gun recoils, and the cost of shooting by half. Some facrtory 9mm is very snappy, and when reloaded, is more like shooting a pellet gun. Reloded .45 and 9mm are much better to shoot. You can shoot both all day long, with no problem.

  • Get a .22 conversion to shoot for much more cheaper.

  • @5687678

I have the .22 conversion for my Kimber, but seldom use it because it make shooting a gun with the weight of a 1911 kinda boring. It's almost like you're just dry firing.

  • I like how much people waste their lives in fighting with people on THE INTERNET. Come on people. Don't freak out because some low-life who has no life and lives half-way across the world, who you will never in your lifetime meet, offends you in some way, don't make it ruin your day!

  • @AndyHanturd HEY BUDDY YOU WANNA FIGHT. :)

  • @AndyHanturd Your an idiot and you have turd in your name.

  • @AndyHanturd blaze it

  • @AndyHanturd its fun with ass holes right?

  • he makes it look easy, and although I am not saying he has poor skill, the reason he seems to do so well is that he is using a target that gives a report (sound) when it is hit. That makes it a LOT easier to tell if your shots are hitting the target.

  • Polymer might bend, which may absorb a little bit of recoil, but it's gonna bend right back again, giving that energy straight back at ya.

It takes a lot more energy to get steel moving, because of inertia.

But anyway...there were no shooting tips in this video...just stating that 9mm kicks less than 45 ACP. While this is true - why not use a .22 if you're looking to minimise recoil...

  • because the 9mm rounds have more stopping power than a .22 and now a days are almost comparable to .45 acp with less kick and recoil. i mean .45 is obviously still more stopping power but they make 9mm rounds that can keep up. that being said i still love .45 its too much fun!

  • he had to brag lol damn him for getting free ammo

  • @plsniper

polymer frams kick a lot more then steel frames. the weight of the steel holds it down more

  • @0Anynamewilldo0 No way, I do not agree. The weight might hold it a bit more but the hard steel frame transfers the force right into your arms making it feel as if a horse just kicked you. A polymer frame BENDS, absorbing the force. Believe me, I shot both. I wouldn't dare to shoot a steel frame 45 ACP with one hand, but a polymer Glock 45ACP I shoot with one hand without a problem.

  • iv shot a .40 XD a .45 glock and a full size steel 1911 all side by side the 1911 kicks less be far. I shoot my 1911 one handed all the time with minimal to no discomfort. the bending might make it a little less snappy but it definitely does not reduce muzzle flip of "kick"

  • While you may not agree, you have no clue. I hate when someone has no clue but posts comments. Ask any expert or experienced shooter who owns and shoots both type of guns and they will agree - not someone who has just shot both... Your logic is wrong- if it bends then it kicks a lot more. You probably keep your arms locked too which is not correct. I shoot my 1911 one handed all of the time and it kicks a lot less than my polymer 9 mm. Get a clue...

  • @Mooselola polymer bends, which absorbs the shock and decreases the shock. Steel does not bend, and it increases the shock as there is nothing to absorb it exept for your arms as the shock is transfered right to them. It is simple logic. If you don't believe me, remove the shock absorbers form you car and see how much more shock you'll feel driving it. :)

  • Obviously you are an engineer/scientist wannabe.Theory is fine until it is debunked by practice. Believe it or not there are many things that go into shooting correctly. You are either not holding and shooting the guns you borrowed correctly or again you have no clue on the reality of the two guns.BTW steel does bend but requires more force than polymer.Regardlessthe forces in action are so many, traveling in many directions when a bullet comes out of a gun, you cannot simply make that statement

  • @Mooselola LOL Yeah, ok.

  • Yeh, good analogy - take my shocks off of my car... last time i drove my 1911 I said it could use some shocks - polymer is like a shock absorber... go back to stocking the shelves at your minimum wage job and maybe if you save enough you can afford your own guns and then you can compare and see what everyone else says...

  • what exactly bends? the slide or frame? what about the steel barrel in the polymer gun - does that bend? the actual movement is so minimal with the force of the explosion that the the "bend" does not make that much difference - your arms should be relaxed and bent and the weight of the steel help keep the gun steady while the polymer is so light that it causes the muzzle to kick a lot more... go shoot your airsoft guns some more

  • @Mooselola Stocking shelves?? Airsoft?? Bua ha ha ha!!! Enything else?:) You are some individual. I'm wondering if someone with your logic and thinking should be even allowed to hold a firearm. You have no clue what I do for a living and what guns I own. Take a deep breath, relax, get off Youtube and search on google for the nearest shrink. :) Good luck to you sir.

  • I'm sorry - I meant mopping floors... So, what guns do you have other than airsoft/bb guns and what do you do for a living other than mopping floors? Go rent another 1911 and polymer gun and shoot more than 10 rounds in each and tell me what you think. My shrink says hi!

  • Do I have "enything else" Yes, I do. What do you mean you don't dare shoot a 1911 one handed. LOL!!! You must be a limp-wrister... Funny how shooting competitions feature one handed 1911 shooting. But you wouldn't know shooting paintball guns or whatever you have rented. I know I have too much time on my hands and my shrink keeps telling me not to do this kind of stuff...

  • @Mooselola BUA HA ha ha ha ha ha!!! Man you are hilarious!! What else?? Tell me more. :)

  • Thanks for the compliment. You're not so bad for a dumb ass :-) Yes, I do have one more thing. If I can invent a polymer car, the whole shock absorber industry will go down, right? Because the car will be so flexible and bend as opposed to a steel car, right? You ought to right a book - "great metaphores and analogies" by Mr. Mop.

  • @Mooselola LOL!!! You are unbelievable. You have proven to me that you are an asshole like I haven't seen in years. Maybe ever. Go lick some ass you fag. Pissed at the whole world and writing crap because your boyfriend stopped calling you? Don't worry, plenty of fruit cake fags out there. LOL !! Brainless homo and asshole. What a combination... LOL!!!

  • Oh, very original... When all else fails get homophobic...You might have some homosexual tendencies, looking at assholes for the past few years, knowing there are many fruit-cakes out there.... Hmmm. Yes, I am an asshole but only to dumb asses like yourself who like to post ridiculous ignorant comments then resort to homophic comments b/c your father was gay and now you are afraid that you might be too! Oh, I am brainless but I don't know what that makes you! Polymer bends - yeh up your ass

  • ..that's when polymer bends... when you insert your rent a gun airsoft gun and place it in your anal cavity. You must have a sensitive anas. Hmmm. I will let my gay friends know. Where do you live? In the basement at your parents house Go run, mom is calling you for dinner!! Where's dad? I know meeting his husband and your step dad. Just come to terms with your sexuality and you might tell the difference in shooting a 1911 and a polymer gun Thanks for the fun banter!!! You DUMB-ASS! :-)

  • I called you a homo, so you go and call me a homo too?You couldn't think of anything yourself? You have an IQ of an ape. You're nothing but a sissy. You bought yourself a 1911 and think you're tough?A nigger would come and slap you around, and you wouldn't even have the balls to take the gun out. You're a fake and you know it every time you look in the mirror. How is it to live knowing that?Wasted enough time on you. Go f... yourself asshole. By the way, I'm a regional pilot, flying ERJ.Good day.

  • I know, I know, I am an asshole but at least I am not a dumb ass!!! First, you make homophobic comments now you make racist comments!!! Unbelievable!!! Who is your employer? Do they know they hired a racist-homophobe? serving drinks and pointing to the exits does not make you a pilot!! Why don't you call your co-workers the names you called me, already!!!! I know, you are not a racist homophobe, you just use those terms so I will call you the same - LOL- when you get your GED, let know...

  • @Mooselola You call me a dumb-ass? I know more about physics than you'll ever dream of knowing because your brain can not comprehend 99% of it. I handle crosswind landings in an aircraft full of passengers that you couldn't handle in a video game. Who did you say the dumb ass was? Idiot... Stop writing me and leave me alone.

  • Dumb ass, if it is true you are pilot, God help us all who travel!!! We know now after the recent crashes and terrorists actions that it does not take much to be a pilot!! LOL now you are a physics professor, like i said scientist wannabe! You obviously have no judgment, temper control and your are a racist-homophobe.certainly you cannot handle being told you are wrong!Get a life and stop taking yourself so seriously, dumb ass. I must have hit a nerve - were you beat up every day as a child?

  • it takes two dumb ass. Ooh, a pilot! Get a life and laugh at yourself. You get upset at assholes like me?Unbelievable why don't you send me a forcevector-diagram and show me exactly where the polymer bends? Add the yield point too. You told me your profession and showed me that you are a racist-homophobe! I hope you can handle the pressure in your plane better than a worthless youtube video banter with an unknown asshole like me who can easily push your buttons.Got any bananas. LOL-good one!

  • I'm sorry - I just shot my polymer gun and noticed that it bent all over the place... I never noticed it until, you the pilot pointed it out - NOT - God save us all who have to fly with you!!! That is why the FAA is examining the training and mental stability of its pilots, it you are a pilot which we know, unfortunately does not require a lot of training anymore you should be able to handle bullshit assholes like me on you tube, dumb ass. Please forward your schedule so I can alert the public!

  • Landing a plane in crosswinds makes you a materials engineer/expert?!?!? Yeh, you got me. Sorry, I didn't know I was talking to a pilot who land his plane?!?!?! My apologies, dumb-ass.

  • You really need mental help. You're talking about pushing buttons? An idiot like you should be not only kept away from guns, but locked up in a mental institution.GO SEE A DOCTOR MAN, YOU ARE NUTS!!!The crap you are writing is not normal. You should not own a gun. Go see a doctor before some innocent people get hurt by your super 1911. Seriously man, I'm not trying to piss you off or insult you right now. I did before because I tought you were just an asshole. Now I see that you're not normal.

  • Pretty decent response for a dumb ass but not that good overall.thanks for the diagnosis. Now you are a health specialist! When will I cease to be amazed by your multitude of skills.Oh that's right, you are a racist homophobic pilot so you should know.Basic law of physics - for every action there is an opposite and equal reaction - you should know, right physicist wannabe? When you put out bullshit you should expect it back. Go get someone a drink or blanket... Thanks for flying dumb as air!

  • @Mooselola you two are idiots, shut the hell up. This vid is about 1911 in 9mm, we dont need to read about how you two flirt and take turn butt-fuck each other.

  • @kryptoniterxn117 hahahah AMEN.

  • @kryptoniterxn117 holy shit your cool

  • I don't really see a reason for a .45 or even a .40. 9mm is lethal, cleaper to fire, and I am damn accurate with it.

Some people like the feel of a .45 or the kick of a 357 and I understand. Feels like you really have power. But when I can go to the range with 100 rounds without breaking the bank, and my friend with a Glock .45 shoots sometimes not even a 50 round box before he's done. I know who has more fun.

Not sure about a single stack 1911 in 9mm tho. Sounds odd.

  • It's called preference.

  • what hapened to the good ol 45?

  • Nicholas if you can't tell what muzzle flip is just by the saying I feel bad for you lol. Especially after watching this video... I can see why your having trouble hitting anything with the 1911....

  • what is "muzzle flip"? I just recently bought a 1911 and having the toughest times hitting stuff with it. check out my shooting videos in HD for the proof, lol.....

  • Are you new to guns? if so could be some sight picture and trigger technique shrowing you off, any 1911 i ever shot was the smothest shooting gun i ever fired.

  • muzzle flip or recoil >>>??

  • a 9mm 1911 makes no sense. get a glock.

  • @jellygas

I read he uses 9mm for practice b/c shooting a 45 all day hurts his hands (but competes w/ an xd45). he goes around 1000 rounds a day

  • umm..... if i was defending my life i would rather go with a .45 ;)

  • shooting tips from a pro shooter like letham is like a japanese stunt driver trying to teach you to drift and make it look easy... just practice, and aim around with an empty gun.

  • If you have to worry about an opponent with body armor you have bigger problems to worry about than your pistol caliber. Like fighting your way to a rifle.

  • i have the us army pistol training guide that i can let you guys have through email you dont have to bother watching all these stupid videos so jus send me a message

  • a .45 may not penetrate body armor, but by god you'll know if you get hit

  • loool. it wont penetrate body armor but it will break a rib.

  • .45 acp= 1 shot 1 kill

    9mm parabellum. 3 shots 1 kill

its easier to get 1 good shot than 3 good shots, plus 9mm doesnt go thru armor or hav STOPAN POWWA

  • ".45 acp= 1 shot 1 kill

    9mm parabellum. 3 shots 1 kill"

that just tells me your impatience and if you listened carefully, he didn't recommend 9mm for "kill", but for accuracy and length of shoot. If i aim for head shot, i WILL hit it 30yds or less w/9mm and the bad guy will drop like a sack of potatoes. Last, armor??? do you think a bad guy will even approach you even with armor if he/she knew you had a gun? my point is power and penetration dont always have priority.

  • i understand what you are sayin, but if im goin to practice shooting i would practice with a gun i would feel safest with to defend myself, yes 9mm is great for target shooting but i dont see the point of converting a great .45 to something so neutered

  • .45 wont penetrate body armor

  • a .45 will definitely penetrate your standard halloween costume which is exactly why i recently purchased a .45 springfield 1911.

  • i fucking hate trick or treaters.

  • I think that this video is kinda one of those "no duh" videos. For those who know firearms, it's a no-brainer that smaller rounds can be shot quicker because of its less recoil.

  • What was the first 1911? (The one chambered in .45) At first, I thought it was a Kimber Eclipse until I saw "SPRINGFIELD ARMORY" on the side. Does anyone know what specific model Springfield that was? Thanks.

  • To me its looks like either the Pakerized 1911 or the Pakerized Mil-Spec 1911....i'm leaning more towards the Mil-Spec

  • Comment removed

  • I had tht exact pistol, but traded it for a Campion Light Weight Op. The model is a Loaded Combat in black stainless and I still miss that gun, but couldn't conceal it easily here in Texas. Great gun, get one if you can, you'll love it.

  • Springfield Loaded fullsize black stainless combat.

  • Well the .45 is a very powerful round, renowned for taking down horses during the civil war. . Yes, you can't hold as many rounds, and I have personally shot many a 9mm. Im very impressed with the accuracy of of the 9mm, but this is a dumbass argument because both rounds have advantages that can be used in a specific combat situation.

  • I dont believe they had cartridge guns during that time

  • @pivotboy63 They did have cartridgeloaded guns during that time. It was invented about 1840. Before that they had to load gunpowder and bullet separately.

  • Your right, I was thinking of Teddy Roosevelt who talked fondly of the weapon used against horses, and that would have been early 1900,'s My mistake. Still a good round though, plenty of inertial energy. I am being told that .45 is in very short supply right now. A testament to its legacy. I have a friend that owns a scope mounted .45 lever action repeater rifle, lever action. Don't know what make it is, but he wouldn't give it up for the world. Its really old.

  • probly a 45 long colt

  • COLT SAA revolver w/ 7.5 in. bbl., 45 (long Colt) caliber was developed around 1870(post Civil War) to meet an U.S ARMY (Cavalry ) requirement to take down enemy horses at 100 yds. COLT SAA was adopted in 1873. Teddy was certainly aware of it's effectiveness by the Spanish American War- 1892. As a big game hunter he had a fondness for big bores like .405 Winchester. 45acp offers similar performance to 45 Colt. When folks say 9mm is puny I say "OK- let me shoot you w/ mine" so far -NO TAKERS...

  • "it's cheaper if you don't get free ammo like ME!" felt like he laughed at me in his mind.

  • BOOM! HEADSHOT!!!
