This video explains so much.. How much of that did you drink? The walls of the Yurt aren't strong enough for you to bounce around like this. Energizer Dave!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You know, i've always liked watching your videos & shows more than any of the other "survival shows". but now that i know youre a Monster/caffeine fanatic too, youre my favorite HANDS DOWN! (i guess it gives you a "hey, hes like me" feel lol) I've been waiting a long time for Monsters in a powdered form as well. but i'd be willing to bet you could use your name to get them to bring out a new line of Monster energy drink mixes!!
Get your back up perscription glasses for $10 (that price includes shipping). not a scam, reviews are great...ive been told these are very sturdy and the lens are crystal clear. Give a thumbs up so people can see it.
Shouldn't the "back-up" for whatever you are carrying be of the highest quality you can carry rather than the lesser? Just thinking, under the 1=none & 2=1 theory that if you are down to your back-up you really need whatever it is and if that "back-up" fails you may be in a world of hurt.
Thanks for discussing glasses Dave! I have 3 quick suggestions for anyone who has glasses.
1. If you are a veteran like I am, you can use your chem-glasses. They are thin with a rubber frame, very durable, and of course they look goofy! :)
2. Put an extra set of cleaner/cloth in your b.o.b.
3. Carry a tool for tightening your glasses. I keep a small one in the foregrip of my Ruger 10/22 with some other tools and my leatherman wave has one as well.
I get the feeling that the 7 dislikes must use the toast tongs to get thier toast out of the toaster . I really like the yurt videos and look forward to more !
hey dave. thanks to your suggestion on single shot 12 ga, my son and I bought 2 new rossi break opens today for the princely sum of 99.98 each. with plastic hollow buttstock with enough room for a 2 man tent. lol. thanks for the tip
Clamp a fish hook in the end, hold the other end between your knees and use it as a fly tying vise. Thanks for all the knowlege i have gained from your videos. My new motto for 2012 is be prepared not scared.
Hi Dave , how did the alpaca blanket work is it similar to sheep? If it is lighter can it be a substitute for the military blankets on the wall of the Yurt?
someone needs to show dave that lawsit where pepsi disputed a lawsuit claiming a guy found a dead mouse in a can of mountain dew by saying the mouse would have been dissolved by the soda.
Dave you're the undisputed master of the woods. I started looking at vitamins & minerals back in the 80's, took almost every kind the health-food store had. I always had a sore throat and some kind of allergy symptoms. Greater than 95% of what goes in one end comes out the other unused. They must be "Peptide Bonded" before your cells can use them. They must be food based I suggest you research "Megafood" on the internet. They work better at what they do then your 12 gauge does at what it does..
Dave, if you like monster try this stuff at wal-mart called ( REDLINE ) its comes in small bottles and powder packets, a good clean buzz with no jitters, and its a major kick in the ass! stuff goes a long way.
"They're made for, I guess picking up toast out of your toaster if you're a weanie and can't reach in there and grab it. . . " LOLOLOL. Love it. Company should pay you royalties Dave, as they're really going to sell now in the multi-purpose world of the Pathfinder System.
I dont know if you posted the maufactrer of the shotgun inserts but I would love on for my
20 ga. to shoot .22 mini. Can you post the manufacturer? Dave If you are going to sell on your PFS site I will wait until available. Thanks Bro for all the goodies.
Dave you do a great job covering a lot of topics but do you plan to cover the subject of physical fitness? It will effect everything in the wilderness especially a survival situation.
Does that company make adapters for the 20 ga to shoot other calibers? Or do they strictly make adapters for the 12 ga? Hope I'm making sense..Example-I have a 20 ga, can I get adapters to shoot .22? Thx.
Dave, You may to check out the reading glasses at i4ulenses(dot)com. They are extremely lightweight, yet durable. I've used the same pair for almost two years while backpacking, hunting, and fishing, and they work great. They weigh about 1/4 oz.
Thanks for all of your videos. Awesome, as always.
Chopsticks are great tool to learn to use, I eat with all the time and there are easy to make in the bush. Those tongs are great because if your hands are cold, chopsticks are difficult to manipulate. I lost a pair of glasses to the New River once, now I always have a spare set of glasses in my pack.
Eyesight is so very important. Those collapsable glasses are a great idea. One thing I've found out with my clam-shell case: The spring wears out after a while so it may fall open. But you have it as a back-up pair so you should have no problem.
I'd have never guessed you're an energy junkie. hahahahahahahaha!
Great idea about the drinks, I really like the compact option. I didn't catch the company name though, can you post that? Also, do they make sugar free for those of us with diabetes? Thanks for all your info, valuable stuff!
Great info as always Dave! That coffee/mocha/energy drink looks really interesting. I've drank so much Red Bull over the years I've actually grown wings ;-)
I had a customer give me a few packets of those drink mixes, but haven't used them yet. Was keeping in my bag in case I needed something more to add to my water to boost my energy, hydration or concentration levels maybe in a stressful situation.
Craziest thing for me watching these videos is our way of thinking Dave. Sooner or later we cross paths. I have done the same thing months earlier, or even in the same week, and then you made a vid about it. WiErd!
Those Monster energy drinks are $1.75 in the checkout case at my local Walmart.... Each can contains 160mg of caffeine... At the same Walmart i can purchase 100 count Equate "Stay Awake" pills that contain 200mg each of caffeine for under 5 dollars... i usually break them in half and take 100mg at a time....Two 16 oz Monsters a day will cost over a Hundred dollars a month...IMO that is a not insignificant amount of money...and the pills take up a lot less weight and bulk then overpriced soda..
@rainmechanic I agree about the Money but not the comparison brother, look at a can of Monster Java and there are tons of Vitamins in there you are not gonna get from those little caffiene pills. I agree about space but packets dont take up much room either.
How can I send you a link to awesome, cheap, drybox I picked up from Bass Pro the other day? Private message on youtube or gmail? It's perfect for a fire kit.
I Believe in if it looks stupid and it works is it really stupid.?..NO, I think not, are the deer going to point and laugh. IS the minute detail that you get correct gonna say anything?
All -in-All, you have a good idea and it works for multiple things. That follows right along with your Common man, everday , multi-use doctrine. I say its all good. Keep those Videos coming.
Monster drink company has a promo going on now, You can get the drink mix , add water. It comes with the balance bracelet thing? BUt I carry my spare glasses in the case, Which is larger container. The extra room in top has ferro rod , charred cloth, reg cloth to clean. 5 cotton balls soaked, and 4x0 steel wool, On the inside top cover is a piece of Duct tape to hold and seperate. outside is sealed with 2 bike tube pieces.
Talking about glasses. I noticed that when walking around in the light snow you did not have sunglasses on. I use polarized sunglasses to cut the suns glare reflecting off the snow. More important I guess when out on open snow or water.
Dave, you are an ultimate badass! Thanks for doing what you do. I was just wondering if you and Cody Lundin keep in touch when you aren't doing the show. Also, are you guys going to do anymore Dual Survival shows? Thanks again. Stay warm out there!
to dave and friends: My question is, in the wilderness, cold weather or hot, in a small day pack, what canned or bagged food is best for rationing. If your child was going to be trapped in the wilderness for an unknown period of time what single food is best to stuff in his bag before he leaves?? Also, where can I buy it:) We have tried everything from sardeens to spam but wanted to know if theres something in the self-reliance culture that we may not know about.
In one of the other videos I saw you speak of a neck knife, Do you still carry one when you don't have the belt knife? (going to town) Also love the fact you changed you mind on the tweezers, always good to be able to adapt in gear and thinking. Could you do a video on some of the tools and techniques, and ideas that have "evolved" with your experiences in the last few years?
just out of curiosity, have you heard of this newer brand of beef jerky called Perky Jerky? apparently they marinade the meat in energy drink then the do the jerky process on it...seems like a pretty cool idea to me
@MrCairokid really give me a break the monster symbol is 3 claw marks that form an m. the hebrew symbol of vav witch stands for v/w or 6 curves up on the top and gets fatter on the bottom . it looks nothing like the monster symbol. don't believe every thing you read.
@MrCairokid google "images monster 666" you will see you are wrong the symbol thy say is on the monster can is highlighted in yellow and clearly is not the same thing as the monster symbol. people see what thy want not what is there. you would be better off turning the monster can upside down and saying its satans pitch fork . i might have belived that LOL .
Thanks for the glasses awnser. Love the tongs idea... Walmart has a generic version of "airborne" that is a tablet you drop into water with vitamans and minerals that I keep in my pack. It takes the nasty taste out of some of the boiled water you drink on the trail. Small Tang packs can do the same thing. The stuff you found seems to be the best option however (a point that sould be mentioned is if you like the taste it will keep you drinking when drinking water is a chore.
My wife says I'm a monster monster. I found the best packet monsters are from Starbucks. The iced coffee packets are tiny, taste great and only $7 for 6 pockets( in Canada). If you mix them with milk they are unbelievably good. I hate Starbucks but even a blind dog finds a bone once in awhile!
@wildernessoutfitters Good to hear your not drinking as much MD, Dave. I used to drink a ridiculous amount, until I realized high fructose corn syrup was wreaking havoc on my body and making me sick. The only carbonated beverage I drink is Monster Chaos (No HFCS), but I try to drink a lot of black coffee to get my caffeine fix, along with a Monstor Loca Mocha or Mean Bean if I want something sweeter.
Dave you never got back to the "curing meats" that you brought up. I was interested on how you would do that in a survival situation if you were lucky enough to find some salt.
had me laughin about the tweezer eating, but your right! May also be a good way to pace your ration consuming, if I pig out I eat more than I need compared to pacing myself.
I'm surprised you take vitamins after all that about modern ideas of what's healthy. ;-) Must take some of the worry out of your diet out there, though. I do a lot of joint-intensive exercise (biking in particular can be hard on the knees) and even though I'm 20 I find that extra vitamin D really helps with my knees and other joints bothering me.
i like making chop sticks to eat with in the woods, easier than a spoon and you can eat anything but soup with them, the soup you can drink out of your cup anyways :D
May i ask what camera you are using to record these; Do you have any advises for me as i am really addicted to sugar, soda and such, to be honest i drink 1,5 - 3L Pepsi per day and when out in the woods i can't bring that with me, making me really week and light headed, Coffee is working a bit but not for long. The thing you had in this video, will it work for me?
your a caffeine addict? i remember years ago you were VERY ANTI coffee. hell, the video of you stating this is on your channel ! Its been very interesting seeing you change thru the years

Hey Dave, love your videos, what about doing a video about boots,I think that is an important issue.

just out of curiosity, have you heard of this newer brand of beef jerky called Perky Jerky? apparently they marinade the meat in energy drink then the do the jerky process on it...seems like a pretty cool idea to me

Enjoy your videos Dave. But, I swore off Monster drinks after learning their logo means '666'.
MrCairokid 1 month ago
@MrCairokid really give me a break the monster symbol is 3 claw marks that form an m. the hebrew symbol of vav witch stands for v/w or 6 curves up on the top and gets fatter on the bottom . it looks nothing like the monster symbol. don't believe every thing you read.
ramsessilent 1 month ago
@ramsessilent I might be wrong, but I doubt it.
MrCairokid 1 month ago

Hey Dave! I was wondering if maybe you can do a video on how to make perk coffee? I would love to see how you would do that. Awesome video!

@mysss29 I figure if my diet sucks most of the time I owe it to my family to at least take some vitamins brother.

Hey Dave, nice videos i really enjoy them.
Grateful for answer
Best regards; Ted
