  • this song always drew my attention as a young girl and it highlights the moments od despair and even in the peaceful times when should be listening to the voice of the Lord. It's also profound in that God will keep you and bless you no matter the situation and upon further reflection if you are living according to his word like all the people carman mentioned.

Carman go a 'Fro going on. He looks like an African American brother; how cool is that!

  • Wowowowowowowowowowowowo! Believe and live

  • this one and "there is a god" are my fav's by carman = )

haven't heard it in forever thanx for the up = )

  • I remember first hearing this song about 25 years ago and it is still awesome!

  • how can people hate on this song its......AMAZING!!!!!

  • This song is for me...... When i was 4 i fell out of a 2 story window. I hit the ground and was unconcious. It took my mom 10 seconds to get downstairs. Now some say i could have survived that. and i did. But not only did i survive, when the doctors were looking at my x-rays, absolutly nothing was wrong with me except for a scratch on my foot. Just shows that God is ALWAYS there. Love never fails!!!!!

  • GLORY!!

  • I heard this song over 20 years ago iand never knew who the wrote it.

  • praise u god i luv u an honor u

  • I saw Carman many times in the 80's. His music had a huge impact on my life back then. Listening to this today all I could do was smile and still got cold chills when Jesus Calls Lazarus forth!

  • I watched this on my youth group, and I just loved this video:)

  • i didnt like it until LAZARUS!

  • This is one of the coolest song ever if you really listen to the story and crank it up really loud in you car some night when its storming. Love it!!

  • We all have a testimony. What has he done for you?

  • I love this song

  • Excellent Vid!!! God Bless You! You can feel the presence of God through this Song!!

  • This was the very first song that I ever heard by Carman.

  • I like to watch. It makes Him real.

  • LAZARUS! JESUS! ahh i love this

  • @pleffers, you're right - in 2011 it doesn't seem that great, but in 1984, it was a pretty entertaining and original way to tell the story. As a little kid in a conservative Christian family, I thought the song was ok. As an adult, I can appreciate his vocal talent and he doesn't seem to be a terrible performer, but he seems very "off" to me... like maybe one day he'll show up in the news headlines because police found recently-buried bodies in his backyard.

  • 5:24 This actually brought tears to my eyes.

I really know why all of them immediately jumped up. Truly a masterpiece, filled with the spirit.

  • this song rules but my fave song ever is this blood i was cryin watchin it

  • i remember listing to this all the time when i was little :)

  • This is one of the songs my mom played while she was pregnant with me...I love it.

  • OMG I LOVE THIS SONG SOOOO MUCH!!!! the story, and then the epicness at the end!!!!

  • If one can't feel the resurrection power in this song, then enjoy your dirt nap !!!

  • Video does not do him justice. I saw him in concert and he is amazing.

  • Lazarus. Jesus? Lazarus. Jesus? Lazarus. Jesus? LAZARUS..... "WHAT JESUS? WHAT?"

  • Five weeks ago I had a seizure and was in a coma for nearly three weeks. Doctors told my parents I would most likely never come out of it. They prayed to God and a few days later He healed me. I've been out of the coma for almost two weeks. GOD IS GREAT!!!

  • First live performance I've seen of this song.

  • This was the first Carman song I heard of. My mom has his CD, so she got me into listening to his songs.

  • I didn't know Gideon was a Baptist lol. I love this vid. So entertaining and such a blessing. And it's so 80's! Lol! You can't lose.

  • i still have this same accompaniment on a tape

  • this song still gives me goose bumps...Carman's music was so influential in me getting saved =o)

  • There only a couple hand fulls of great story song singers and there are even fewer great story song writers and singers, and yet even fewer that rise to the level of Carman!

  • ESTE LOUVOR É 10 COM LOUVOR.

  • Wow! This is Amazing! So Powerful. It feel like it just happenend today. He has Amazing Composition & structure in all his songs. Whoooh!! I feel Jesus in this place!!

Carmen is an Amazing Songwriter. I still remember the days he led Worship in our church in Tulsa OK under Bishop Carlton Pearson in the 90s. Sing on Carmen! Bless on buddy!!

  • This is AWESOME!

  • What is the name of the song he sings about someone in the hospital?

  • Lazarus was done in 1984.

  • When I first heard this song I was a teenage and not a Christian, and as a result this song didn't make any sense to me. But now that I've been a Christian for several years and I've actually read the Bible this song means a lot to me. Thanks for posting!

  • He sounds a lot like the late, great Ronnie James Dio. Those Italians are so gifted in music.

  • this song pretty good this first time i heard this one.

  • I cannot listen to this song without crying at the end, knowing that there will come a day when we are called forth! I love it!

  • I still get goosebumps from this song!

  • AMEN!

  • I have known this song for what seems like my whole life, and it still make my heart jump and get excited everytime!! PRAISE THE LORD!!!

  • i am 24 now, i watched so much when i was growing up!! thanks for

    posting!!!!

  • man thank God for Carman. i grew up listening to him. we wouldn't have Christian music today like we do if not for Carman being such a pioneer. musicians like him, keith green, and andre crouch. i got some respect for them guys.

  • I remember having the blessing seeing Carman at my church (ALFC.com) when I was a young child. Go and check out the website, you will only reap something good.

  • i was there awesome

  • awesome! thank you for posting! I did not realized this song was that old. :)

  • Omg this was like my catholis school classes annthom... Im about to cry!!

  • yep 80's....look at what he is wearing!! lol

  • What wonderful energy. ...love this guy.

  • Carman is still going strong and this is one of my favorites. Ironically, the opening of "Tales of the Darkside", sounds like the beginning of this song. But, this song shows the true light (Jesus Christ), Who overcame the dark.

  • There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord.

    1 Corinthians 12:5 NLT

  • Carman is amazing! Thank God for his talent....

  • This is old testament time, before Jesus died. When Jesus died He went into Paradise and preached to the captives. That is the time Paradise ended and the saints went to Heaven...

  • I used to get chills all over my body and my eyes would tear up when I listened to this song as a kid. I still get them! Carmen always had an amazing message! Praise God for his willingness to be used by God!

  • this song is tha truth wish carmen go an make real videos for this song ,champion, sunday's on the way.....GOD WORD BE BLESSED

  • this is a powerful song.. oh how i wish that i could just be there with Jesus like Lazarus!

  • Carman began his career as a nightclub performer in New Jersey.[1] He converted to evangelical Christianity after attending a concert by gospel singer Andrae Crouch.[1] Carman released his eponymous debut album, later Some-O-Dat,[1] in 1982

  • yea its definately 1984.

  • I love this song and everything by CARMAN. I saw him in concert and he was great he needs to come back.

  • Here's "Lazarus" by Carman... we celebrate you Carman...

  • Do you guys know where i can find the lyrics to this story song?

  • I don't know what to say, powerful.

  • ..5:20ish...CHILLS

  • ...5:29...CHILLS !!!!!!!

  • After all these years this video still gives me the chills.......amazing. Thanks for sharing.

  • Praise the Lord.... Have you met Jesus and made Him the Lord of your Life?

  • carman has such talent

  • i LOVE how the crowd goes wild in the end! i wish i was there to feel so much holy presence!

  • Praise God we serve a God who can overcome death and a God so powerful that the demons tremble at the mere mention of his name. Praise God! God bless Carman for allowing God to use him.

  • I love this song... and it's a wonderful way to explain the story, my 5 and 7 year old love this song too.

  • When I was a young teenage, for the first time I went to a pentecostal church. I loved it. We had so much fun in my youth group. The choir was awesome and that's about the same time this guy did this song. To this day, I can't stop listening to it.

  • What an incredible heart for Jesus Christ and the lost world we live in!

Carman's versatile ministry was instrumental in my raising 4 children to love and serve the Lord in late '80s and early 90s.

    I thank God for Carman!

  • love it love it love it!!! I GET CHILLS AT 5:30-5:35

love it so much praise the lord!

  • Most awesome video on youtube, hands down.

  • Praise God for people that are obedient to him and come to the will of the father! Hallelujah!!

  • love with song

  • Wow, This guy is amazing. And to think as a teenager I remember thinking this was corny but now I am thinking, that's talent.

  • First time I've seen it. Wow. It makes the story of Lazarus alive again.

  • i wish carman would come to my town. we need a revival in this town

  • I have to watch this at least once a day.

  • This guy is simply brilliant. AMEN.

  • I love Carman, and I love this song! I have never seen Carman perform, but I wish I could have! This was one of my favorite songs that he sings. My fav. is "The Champion".

  • Im an 18 year old guy and i used to sing these songs when i was about 12 to 15 and i just looked them up and i can still sing them word for word, lazarus come forth, satan bite the dust, and the champion ty for putting up greatly appreciate it

  • This is a great song! I hadn't heard this song in a long time!

Last week I heard this song on the radio and I really enjoyed it. I blasted the radio so loud and was singing it loud but my kids didn't get scared.

I heard it a bit different though and I think someone else was singing it. Does anyone have any idea who?

  • One of the greatest songs ever

  • Классная тема.Касается сердца.Где можно скачать мр3 и ещё трэкс?

  • i been looking this song for months. i lost the CD many years ago i even left the church.

  • The song is a good song

  • I wish they would put this out on dvd!!

  • joke is right christians go to the resting place, and the lost go to the place of torment

  • if you have male reproductive organs you are a man and should dress like a man vise versa with a female. and just like angleroypt said, were not God so we dont judge other souls but ours. my name is written in the lambs book of life

  • Carmen lives in the next town from me.

  • put Jesus first and watch everything else fall into place.

  • My pastor just preached on Lazarus and used this song in his sermon. As a big carman fan I was overjoyed hearing him bring this great song up!

  • tears rolling down, yet after so long, it still has that same effect, message, and spiritual feeling, this is phenomenol, why cant he be this good anymore, i know that answer guys, anyway, god bless you all

  • those of you who think some of these didn't make it to heaven... If you were God, you would know. You're not God. Why do you feel you have to judge? Think before you put someone in heaven of hell. Thats God's place. Not ours.

  • I am with angleroypt on this. We do not know who God has chosen or who is actually written in the Lamb's Book of Life. All we know is to believe in our Lord and we will be saved and our name will be the Book of Life!

  • This is one of my favorites. During a performing arts event at my church we had a guest minister who was a maime perform to this song. It was AMAZING !! Carman is truly anointed in his storytelling ability. To take biblical stories and concepts and make it relevant so that people, especially the youth, are excited them is truly a gift. God bless him!!

  • Esta es mejor canción que en mi vida he oído.

    this is the best song

  • Solomon didn't make it to heaven! Sorry!

  • "Solomon didn't make it to heaven!"

What? God called Solomon His son in 2 Samuel. God used him to write three books of the Scriptures. The man was surely saved! :)

  • He was saved... in Carmen's opinion, no one is in heaven until the judgment... hence the whole in a room thing... they are waiting until heaven is opened. They are in Paradise, not heaven.

  • 1984?? are you sure? I think you mean 1994.

  • Actually I beleive 1994 was the release of "The Standard". This song is from 1984's "Comin' on Strong" album. By 1994 Carman was already doing Stadiums with up to 70,000 plus people in attendance.

  • Oh I see thanks!

  • @eden512 You are correct!

  • @eden512 It was 1984. I remember this song from before I was Saved, that was in '87.

  • @NALU23

When I was younger I attended more than 15 of Carmen's concerts. And it was in the early and mid 80's and he didn't "Charge" to attend.. he only asked for a 'Praise offering"... I don't know if he's still doing things the same but his music is timeless!

btw.. just look at his clothing in this video... it's 80's... lol

    God Bless!!

  • @NALU23 No, this was originally released in 1984. He had a few albums before this one!

  • @NALU23 I was thinking 1986 myself at least that's the year that our theatre group at church camp did a one act play of this as a musical, very powerful !!!!

  • @NALU23 I am Sure it was 1984! I had all my children at home and this was one of our favorite songs then

  • @NALU23 he has the 80's hair cut lol

  • @NALU23 its 1984..I used to skate to it int he eighties and I had the tape The Champion this song is on there

  • @NALU23 its from 1984 bc I used to listen to this when i was like 5 or 6 and i was born in 86 :)

    This is great!

  • @NALU23 this was done in the 80's..I rollerskated to it.. I also had the tape.. as for staduims.. in 1990 Carman came to the Civic Center in Saint Paul and did an all donation concert.. no one did that.. he filled it too and it was a staduim

  • Good song. Gives me chills too...

  • God makes many of us without limbs or with dysfunctional brains and organs. These are things for us to overcome and become stronger from. And who's to say that God doesn't put female souls into male bodies (or vice versa) in a similar way? Just because someone is transgender doesn't mean they're not what God wanted them to be.

  • well because it is an abomination to him, also the ark they went in female and male even with animals he distinguished them God loves the sinner he hates the sin. i am not a doctor but many children with no limbs and brain dysfunction are the by products of other things.like mercury in baby shots and who knows what else we could go deeper but not enough space to type it here

  • woot woot woot!!!love it love it love it

  • I love Carmen he has inspired me all of my life ! And he always will!

  • This is a good song, gives me chillbumps....I know it's the spirit!

  • If the unpardonable sin can even be committed today, which I doubt, would it not be those who reject Jesus Christ unto their death, and therefore they are lost without excuse.

  • Always gives me Chills :)

  • I know EXACTLY what you mean :)

  • Carmen was instrumental in strenghtening my faith in God when I was a young believer! I remember going to his concerts and I feel that they were all a major part of making me who I became in Christ! Especially the Witches Invitation and Sunday's on the Way!

Thank you Carmen if you're out there reading this! =)

  • im a transgender female now guess im lost for ever im sad cause i love our father so much and i will never ever give up on him no matter how bad it gets from roberta carmen is very special to me in my walk thanks for the post

  • honey God loves you just as you are. Don't let anyone tell you different. You love the Lord and you have claimed him as your saviour then you are his!

    blessings

  • Dear heart, you aren't lost forever. Please don't believe that! God is able to do anything. The only sin that is unforgivable is blaspheming the Spirit. You can be forgiven if you only ask.

  • Jesus came to seek and save the lost. Is the Lords arm too short to save?

Remember that in all things god works for the good of those who love him.

  • im extremely glad that your responses to this have been all positive. The first person to condemn you condemns himself. Look, if i go out and lose my virginity out of wedlock, then i can't ever get that back. But i know that god is forgiving and he wont let that destroy me, as long as i truly ask his forgiveness. The same to you, miss. God ain't NEVER gonna stop loving you, and dont you dare believe neone who says otherwise!!! I pray his blessings on you always. amen

  • Dear Misstransgender, you are NOT lost forever! The only way to be lost is to not accept Jesus as Savior. He isn't as concerned about our genitals as people think He is. Jesus loves you!

  • I miss Carman. Where is he at nowadays?

I love this one a lot. His music really impacted my spiritual walk back when I just got saved.

  • the older his stuff, the better it ages. But the newer songs? naaaaaaaa, not so much.

  • lol, hate to make a sacreligious reference, but old carman is like fine wine, baby! SOOOO GOOD, no matter how old! X)

  • I disagree. His new stuff is great. Have you heard the new version of This Blood? Awesome! It has Andre Crouch singing The Blood Will Never Lose It Power as the chorus. It will send chills up and down your spine!

  • you're soooo right! I know I probably have said this about thousens of other songs by this brither, but... IT'S THE MOST AWESOME SONG EVER!!!!

  • My older brother and I used to act this out in the living room when we were kids. He was always Jesus and I was Lazarus.

  • Wow. Never saw or heard that before. Awesome. Carman (and obviously his team) is so unique. I love how he deals with demon deliverance. No one else seems to have done, or be doing that. ;-( But his vids help the message keep Yahusha's directive getting out there: "You shall cast out demons..." :-)

  • Yahshua is an improper form of Calling God's name.

  • excellent is the word for this piece of art.

    this was so inspiring...martha

  • OH, Man I love his older stuff. I had them but over the years Ive lost them. Do you have the Soap Opra song and the Pizza song??? THanks for this!!!!!

  • OH man, I have been wanting some of his oder things. I them when I was a teenager and seem to have lost them. Does anybody have the Soap Opra song and the Pizza song?????

    Thanks for the video!!!

  • I really feel like carmens music is timeless.

  • oh wow retro! Awesome lyrics: I like the interlude the best, carmen is probably still the best story/parable singer/illustrator.

  • I love the power of this song. Thanks for posting it.

  • thats the stuff

    Desiree Dawn songwryter

  • my mom loves this song!!!!

  • Praise the Lord, and thanks for posting this. I always loved this song, and I never saw a live performance - great stuff!

  • i love this song. i have his cd. its really good

  • Wow, great to see this from 1984! His songs and messages are still awesome because he gets them from the scriptures , I think he has a Christian talk show now. THank you for posting, just awesome!
