The Chile live concert was the worst I've ever heard Arnel sing this song.....but other than that, he is very good replacement lead vocalist for this band....his voice has a similar tone, but with more punch and raw power than Steve's. Steve just has that one of a kind natural rock tenor voice that is impossible to match. Steve held his own.....Arnel holds his own. Both good.

The band, Journey is great and the body of it existance, but Steve Perry is the heart. The song just simple felt better with Steve Perry because the heart is there. With Pineda its dead. No live and feeling at all. Pineda replacement just like Pinnochio. His stage performance is ok but the singing finished..... So, GOOD BYE Journey. I rather bury you. Where are you man, Steve? Steve Perry is to me what Frank Sanatra was to my parents. the greatest vocalist of my generation in my opinion. But it wasn't "The Steve Perry Band". it was and is JOURNEY! SP may have been the face or Journey,but the band was the body. And to find someone like Arnel, who does justice to the Journey classics, is amazing. Dont Stop Believin is the most downloaded song in ITUNES history. why would the band want to deprive the old and new fans from hearing that or any other journey classics!

Now, I'm a Steve fan. I'm not a fan of Arnel, but I have no problem with him and I think that who is better is completely a matter of opinion. But the Journey we know should have been layed to rest years ago. I realize there was MORE to the band than just Steve, but he was a huge chunk of it. He made the band what it is, and without him it just isn't Journey. If they would just abandon the classics and continue on with new material as they've been doing, I'd feel so much more respect for them.

In this video, you can tell the difference between Arnel and Perry. Perry's voice is high pitched, and thinner, not as strong as Arnel's superior voice. Pineda's voice is strong. He has a volume behind his power vocals that Perry cannot match. Perry's high notes are high pitched, but thin, weak. This is why Pineda is winning over even the most die hard Perry fans. Arnel Pineda is the BEST ROCK VOICE TODAY.

If Perry can't sound strong in a studio in which you can multi-layer the voice and add lots of effects, then he is not strong. This video is using LIVE audio, and you can tell that Perry's voice is thin. Yes, Perry has a slightly greater range, but his high notes are thin in comparison to Pineda's vocals. Pineda's high notes are very solid, has great volume, and depth. Any vocalist will tell you that Pineda's voice is gigantic. Steve perry is known for his incredible freakish range.

Arnel Pineda can sing incredibly high also, but his timbre is masculine, and he sings it with power. If you compare just their voices, Pineda vs Perry, Pineda wins. However, Steve Perry is a legend, and so fans of Perry include all his achievements in their comparison to Pineda, who is just starting out. On vocals alone, Pineda wins.

arnel is a thousand times better as a frontman for this venerable rock band. steve perry was a cancer that ruined journey's chance of having a great comback when he pulled up lame for the 'trial by fire' tour. steve could sing back in the mid 80's, his voice is destroyed now. arnel is the man, he sounds identical when he needs to, has a better range on his own songs and has way more chemistry with the band.
