@queenofshemakh I don't actually have a problem with people who detransition. I've known several people who detransitioned, and I have no problem with them. My problem comes when those people actively fight against other transfolk.
A perfect example would be the guy in Australia who detransitioned and started lobbying to make it harder for transsexuals to get SRS. Just because he regretted it doesn't mean everyone else will. That's where I have the problem.

There's nothing wrong about regretting the transition and telling the story to others. Transitioning is not something sacred, it's just a choice. Tht'a how I look at it.
There certainly is nothing wrong with regretting a choice. My problem with PFOX is they find those people who regret these choices and try to convince everyone that that is the norm.
There are no official statistics of people who detransition, but they must be super low as I've only ever met 2 people who have detransitioned out of the thousands of transfolk I've met.

It happens here in the united states. Look up "transgender arrest Florida" on Google News and you'll see just how recent this kind of thing came into the national spotlight. It's definitely not the norm though... thank god!
Just to let it be known there are thousands of young trans people on the streets getting pumped with silicone, many are transsexual, but there needs to be a solution to this cause the effects can be horrible and there is a great chance that something can go wrong.
There definitely does need to be a solution to that kind of thing. My solution, at least what i'm working on, is to raise positive awareness and image of transfolk.

I like when you get mad Erin . This was the most blatant utter bullshit I have ever read. I take very basic HRT, don't pay for anything but soap and water, wear very little makeup ( I can roll out of bed and be at any given place in ten minutes ) and I'M OVER 50 ! And I live a splendiferously happy life.

These days I spend a MAX of 5 minute on my makeup... and that's only if I'm going out on a fancy date or something.
Mostly I just do eyeliner and mascara and then don't wash it off for 4 days... it's a bit gross but it works for me.

I think it's sickening that people like that try and use their experience to say that every other transsexual is the same as them, that simply isn't the case though.
Like you, I didn't need anyone else to tell me I was a girl... I knew I was a girl.
And transition to me has never been a competition... I don't try to out femme other girls or OD on Estrogen because someone is younger and prettier than me.
Things like that just prove their own craziness, not the craziness of others.

I agree you're not specious which is why I disagreed with the commenter. Sarcasm and speciousness are very different. Sarcasm is a type of irony which relies on the audience being able to discern your true meaning. Speciousness on the other hand is a type of sophistry or intellectual dishonesty which tries to fool the audience with false arguments.
If I said, "Creationism is science," sarcastically that is very different than saying, "Creationism is science," speciously.

Regardless of whether or not the experience is legit, posting it on sites like PFOX and working with organizations like that only serve to further oppress and degrade REAL Transfolk.
When I first came out to my family they grasped at these kinds of stories and would use them against me in an attempt to prove that I wasn't actually transgender.
If I can stop one person from having to go through that then I've done my job... and videos like this are my chosen was of going about that.

WTF with the "pumping party" comment?!? That's what Travestis do in Brazil, but only because they cannot afford breast augmentation...plus they aren't transgendered. I dunno where in the US this guy was supposed to have lived. And the comments about "I wasn't a woman" and stuff kinda negates the feelings he would have had if he WAS transgendered. Basically, if this story was true then he just did hormones like drugs and tried to be the "best tranny" or something....

Just to let it be known there are thousands of young trans people on the streets getting pumped with silicone, many are transsexual, but there needs to be a solution to this cause the effects can be horrible and there is a great chance that something can go wrong.

I think it is extremely unfortunate that the only funding out there for transgender research has to do with AIDS. =(

There actually are such things as Pumping Parties, and no offense to those people who attend them, but they're basically for people who are off their rocker.
