FS was very influential in the 1960's as I searched for meaning and justification for being Christian. No longer being one, I now see the hollowness of his central argument - ie, we must take a desperate "leap of faith" to latch onto an absolutely code of behavior, because the alternatives, humanism/relativity, otherwise lead to social chaos. Not good enough. The theology must be real for the leap to make sense. If it is man-made, it is a leap into, in Christian terminology, quicksand.

If one only understands what ressurection means within their mind and not with a God-given faith and knowing within, they CANNOT be saved. For Jesus overcame death, by the power of the Holy Spirit. And so do the sons of God who are led by that very same spirit. Not church, not even bible, though the scriptures bear witness to God's Spirit.

Values are personal. However, there are common sense values that the majority of people agree on: killing is wrong, helping your fellow man, etc.. He claims Christians are a group of people discriminated against by atheist hippies (he is a bit dramatic), and sees the renaissance as a movement that has hurt western civilization. I disagree with his arguments. Humanism has expanded our thoughts on the world, the universe and each other. I believe in abortion.

I love how all that the atheists have against this presentation by Schaeffer is ad hominem and personal attacks. They [and apparently his son] cannot refute what he actually said. There is an internal logic to humanism. Schaeffer is simply pointing out the inevitable result of thinking like a humanist. If we do not return to the Bible, what Schaeffer has said will happen [is happening and] will happen. It is either God or death; there are no alternatives.

In a free market of ideas, truth will always win out. The only 2 ways it will not are: 1) People are too lazy to investigate subjects with intellectual honesty, or 2) There is censorship of the truth, as in totalitarian governments.

Anyone who watches this video with intellectual honesty must necessarily see the truth he presents.

It's not humanism its liberalism, the issue is not humanism, although its the overal problem thats been hit around since the rennaisaince. Politically, its liberalism, of course I'm talking about the view in general that allows people to enforce "arbitrary sociological laws" as he said. Liberalism and Christianity disagree on the nature of man. As a matter of fact some an enlightment thinkers have said they are in disagreement on original sin I think.

How dreadful! all of these amazing videos are not available to us in Spanish... Thank God I understand English, but people in my family or in my church don't.

I'd be so glad if I could share all these videos with them. My church is really being routed by the false gospel, and so is the situation with the remaining churches throughout my country (Chile) and Latin America.

"Free will", "purpose driven life" and "be a better you" theology are dogmas there nowadays. It's a shame!!

That was amazing. It seems that I can narrow down all wrong paths that lead out into every branch of error with this amazing knowledge. Humanism truly is evil. You're welcome. It really is helpful. He tracks humanism and existential thought from the time of the apostles through the centuries to the time of about the 1970's or so. I highly recommend it and his book "The God Who Is There". Lord willing, I'll post an mp3 lecture he gave in about a week or so dealing with many of the elements that are now prevalent in the emergent church and the seeker sensitive movement. I've listened to it now almost 4 times in the last two months or so. :)
