It's from a 1936 movie with the same name about mail being delivered on the LMS. The loco they used for it has been preserved.

It's not exactly a commercial, it's a 25 minute documentary. The loco was a 'Royal Scot' 4-6-0 no. (4)6115 Scots Guardsmen.

The video was made before Scots Guardsman was rebuilt into her new shape wasn't it? And wasn't the whistle for it wrong in Night Mail aswell? It was usually lower, but it was higher when it passed the pick up.
