@RankielGuitar Al's falsetto was great in the 60's... there's some concerts floating around the internet in mp3 where you can hear it.

It's really sad what happened to Brian... in 1973 he still had the "normal" voice and then when he came back in 1976 it was gone.

I think this is the first time I have seen Bruce Johnston play the guitar. Go Bruce!!! Also Carl and Denny rocking out guitar and drums......that's the best part. Good try Al on trying to sing Brian's part, at least you tried. Brian on piano is awesome too see.

Cool thing about this particular tune is it's an "all beach boys" led tune- Al on Falsetto, Bruce on Bass guitar, as opposed to Ed Carter etc helping them out on the other tunes.

@OropherThranduil So true about Brian :( And It's always Really annoyed me that they toured with such an unnecessarily large band- people like Carter add nothing interesting and are just irritating. the boys were fine on their own. Chaplin and Fataar were fine but extra musicians arent needed. Carl Doesn't appear to be soloing here tho

and he was a great guitarist, just watch the 68 clip of bluebirds over the mountain or surfin usa, i think the knebworth or live aid version, he should have soloed some more, also some alan jardine solos would be interesting to hear.

@OropherThranduil Brian on falsetto by that point would've been awful. He couldn't sustain it for very long live and the fragments of falsetto he could pull out were ragged and terrible. By this time, his voice was completely shot from prolonged drug abuse. Al could do a better "Surfer Girl" than Brian could then.
