I've seen crappier storylines in Fighting games than this. The storyline in Blazblue is so godawful because it's too confusing, the pacing is sluggish and some of the characters take themselves too seriously. Ragna whined bitched and complained throughout the entire story and JIn acts like a mentally insane version of Sasuke Uchiha. >.<

Bloody Roar 4 was so crappy, that they're will probably never be a Bloody Roar for PS3/Xbox 360. Nagi is cheap Kasumi (Dead Or Alive) copy just with Bicker/Rocker Gear. Xion is a Sephiroth copy (Final Fantasy VII) just without a sword, a red instead of a black coat and shorter hair. Reiji and Ryoho/Mana were just fucking annoying. And my two favorites Long & Shina weren't even selectable from the start. In short : "With BR4 they really fucked up the great previous Bloody Roar franchise."

I was wondering if it was worth getting hold of Bloody Roar 3 or 4, but you've certainly convinced me not to bother with the fourth one. Is it the case that Bloody Roar got worse when it came onto PS2?

agree, i remember searching for this one since i owned BR 3 and 2 (love the games even if i suck at them), i was so hyped because i played primal fury in a friend house and i was pissed about that version don't being ported to the ps2, when i heard of this game i was expecting like a version of primal fury (or extreme for xbox owners) for the ps2 but good god, i ended whit a broken version of BR3 whit some models reused from PF, that experience let me whit a really bitter taste about the series

X-gnome code is basically a tatto yes, but its ALSO a part of the plot of BR3, its the oiriion of the hyper beast form, which is also in primal fury. The cooperation is from BR1 and 2. And the plot of Primal Fury is more or less a rip off of Tekken mixed with ending the conflict between Zoanthropes and humans. The Stone Seal was what Xion had in bloody roar 3...the gaia hyppie stuff IS lame in BR4

Eighting gave Voice-overs and a story-line a shot, and while it didn't work out so well, they at least tried. IF they decide on a part 5, odds are they'll improve on it.

I think BR4 is a lot similiar to Megaman X6; Casual players hated it, seasoned MMX players nutted over it. I enjoyed the challenge. I enjoyed the funky level designs. It goes with BR4 as well. Despite the bad acting and other weird flaws, its still a solid Bloody Roar title.

I'll happily disagree. I started following the series around the time 2 came out, when I couldn't afford the system or the games and had nothing to go on but Playstation's dedicated sites to the titles.

Roster: Expanded? They cut two characters (3 counting Fang) and added three new ones that had no previous ties to the series. It's like adding Ken Dorsey to the New York Giants; no one knows who he is or why he's there, and ultimately he doesn't contribute anything.

And when I say "previous ties" I don't mean mentions in past games, I mean any sort of way to fit them into the BR universe without having to dramatically rework the story of the series.

Gameplay: Refer to my health bar comment, and think about this. If the idea was always to stay in beast form as long as possible, why even bother with the regular health bar? BR1-PF, your health was your health. BR4, your health is a means to drag out matches for another five seconds.

Story: You do realize there were storylines in the other four titles, right? And that they tried voiceovers in the X-Box port, Bloody Roar Extreme, which didn't go so well either, right? Dramatic doesn't begin to describe the departure between 4 and the others. Departures aren't always bad, mind you, but when they virtually..

I've pretty much been playing BR since I was around 8 and first played it on the PSX, and remember using Long back in the day. Then 2, then I bought three, then played Primal Fury, then finally 4. Each one of those games had its flaws, but they all had one thing in common; Gameplay. Putting aside the Graphics and Voice-acting and whatnot, the gameplay always impressed me to no end. BR4 was no exception. There ARE good things about this game. It finally became bloody, the roster was expanded...

Beast Form = Super Sayian

The whole idea behind it is to stay in it as often as possible, in every Bloody Roar game, otherwise you lose. That's how its always been.

The double health bar system didn't bother me one bit. In the previous installments, going into Beast and using your hyper combo recovered a nice chunk of health, and that was annoying. Eighting didn't fix anything yes, but they didn't mess anything up with that.

God forbid there's two lifebars in this game. Budokai had it. Nobody said anything. Go into beast mode with 1/4 of your beast bar full and see how long you'll stay that way against a seasoned player.

Don't think of me as a BR4 fanboy though. This game does have it flaws. I agree with you about the walls. They should be weaker. Voice acting is a lawl fest. The story is super loose. Having to unlock Long and Shina is weird. You should have to unlock Nagi and Ryoho or something.

I've play Primal Fury waaaaay back in 2003 in Wal-Mart. I loved it, but it was either that or Super Mario Sunshine lol. So I wanted to get back into the series recently, which one should I get? I've been hearing that BR4 isn't as good as the preivious installments, like in this review, but Nagi looks kind of interesting though, as a character. And Primal Fury is the one I've played and I liked it a lot, I distinctly remember playing as Jenny. xD Any suggests or recommendations?
