  • I love how he attempts the epic scream at 4:28!

  • pete is the brain of the who....and for me the best who...

  • i like this more than the released one

  • pete palyed the drums? or drum machine?

  • @jaqua524 No drum machines in those days!

  • @sundayuneedlove so he played a little drums? haha awesome

  • @jaqua524 he did get some help from John Entwistle on a few demos though

  • Pete's my idol!

  • Comment removed

  • @SAAB7899 I say more Levon, but the harmonies in the chorus are total Rick. I looooove this discussion. It makes me smile uncontrollably to hear this combination of two of my favorite things ever. The Who and The Band.

  • Did anyone make demo's like this ever.WOW!

  • Although pete wrote this really does make it the who when moon, enty and rog join in!

  • Fuck i love the who

  • The reason Pete is such a better songwriter then Lennon/McCartney or Jagger/Richards is that he did 99.99% of the writing and arrangements on his OWN! No one to help him, no 2nd input..all from his own head!!

  • @tohcrp Thank you for your post, so freakin true! Long live Townshend and The Who-the greatest band of all time who bleed for their music.

  • THE musical genius of the 60s, 70s, and 80s.... Jagger, McCartney and Lennon donot come close...

  • @wnyvideo Wrong.

  • What more can be said? Townshend is brilliant

  • This synth track belongs in the Smithsonian. Hope Pete has it backed up safely on his home machines.

  • @TheSanityInspector

I know you posted some months ago; but theSmithsonian. Are serious.

English composer, English band, written & recorded in England. I think there are several English establishments with a greater claim to this pice of work.

  • @iws99 Hee-hee, you've got me there!

  • he should just be called god and there should bge a 500ft statue to him in london.

  • petes scream at about 4:30 made me jump lol. it was just cool.

  • is this album on sale pretty commonly or is it rare? I need this either way.

  • petes drumming is cool... slow and calm mooded... but like the final version better

  • i actually think its a drum machine

that's what he said he uses in home demos in some interview, i forgot which one

  • @yrrebhsuk Probably not a drum machine, this being recorded in 1970.

  • @TheSanityInspector Yeah, Pete first recorded the songs he wrote (playing/singing) each part by himself. Then he took it to the rest of the band, they rehearsed it, and eventually came out with the finished product.

  • I like this almost as much as the proper version and that has to be one my all time favourite tracks. I t has a really nice slow pace to it. It's almost like The Who covered his song. Townshend is a true genius!

  • won't get fooled up on cripple creek again!!

  • Lol, they do sound kind of similar

  • seriously, I love how he drums like levon.

  • "cause the horses were all bet on in the last war ;D"

  • @massiveham We have a thread winner!

  • This is Great!!! thanks!

  • pete can do evry thing and that is what made him and the who so good

  • @nyjetstowshend Pete Townshend is The Who

  • The lyrics mix sounds good. Nice to hear Pete's voice like this.

  • pete is god

  • Pete is not God! He's God's God. Sheesh.

  • he's a brilliant musician that's all thankyoupourlavideo

  • @nyjetstowshend

exactly man hes a truely unique player. he has so many well known riffs!!

I think pete should be renamed a riff god!!

  • @GrungeRocker1000 This opening guitar chord, and the subsequent synth line....I can imagine it being the soundtrack to the Big Bang, the birth of the universe itself...

  • @nyjetstowshend He's Good but no one's that good, Watch yourself

  • How good is this? Sheer class.

  • pete's drumming is chill as hell

  • Reminds me of Levon Helm in the Band.

  • i love this version wayyyyyyy more.

  • yup!!

  • better than original. thanks

  • I mean not better but it sounds more vintage

  • it's something else. alot tidier and should have been on a solo album.

  • Pete is simply brilliant.. Thanks for posting...
