wait wait wait ... i have the same exact box as you. am i suppose to force the male and female into the box for them to mate, the box has been their for 2 weeks now and they maybe once a day sit on the box's edges and don't go inside ;/
..very nice video..such an inspiring one:) ..i have a problem on my female .,by the time she has her hatchlings..they just keep on dying:( i dont know y..til only one will survive from the clutch .
CUTE! i love the way you filmed this sorta like the life of a budgie from birth to when they are adults.... BTW what sort of hater dislikes cute little harmless birds?? Shame on those four who disliked this vid.
my female budgie died one week after hatchings eggs and the father refused to look after the babies so i am the job instead.what and how should i do in order that they become healthy
my female budgie refused to look after her 4 eggs, father by himself lay down on eggs all the time and after eggs hatched feed the babies till babies become mature. i took the mother to another cage in the beginning in case she may break the eggs. father did the whole lot himself.
at 0:35 try adding more bedding it will make it more cumfturable i would know my mom wurx at thu lokal animal shelter and breeds all types of burdz!!!! :D
@SuperMichelle98 : I got 2 budgies, exhibition and a normal one, there both around 10-11 months i've put up a nest box. The girl is new as the previous one had died. Any tips or help fpr them to breed and get along?
i don't kno but we guess the mother bird couldnt feed all of them. Also i feed one of them, i make other birds feed him guess what the mother escaped :( now we had 4 eggs from 7 month old girl:D
its the color of that thing above there beak(nose mabye) if its blue its boy, skin color than buy, but you probably can't tell if there only 8 month old
I have two budgies, one has a noticable pink coloring on the "nose", but the other has a kinda of beige to really light brown coloration so i cant tell if its a male or female. It acts most dominant an bullies the other one so i just thought it was an imature male. Any input?
That thing above their nose is the nose, yeah. I owned like 7-8 budgies until now, but now I have a lovebird. The difference between their noses is that the budgies have that skin area around their noses which makes it easy to determine their gender. But the lovebirds' case is different. Their noses are almost hidden in the feathers right at the end of their beak. You must look closely too actually notice the nose. No idea how you determine the gender here. Mine is a boy, tough.
A budgie is subspecies of the parakeet family. Other parakeets are the Bourkes, Ringneck, Alexandrine, Monk, several others. All budgies are parakeets, but not all parakeets are budgies.
They can, but it is very different from the noises of adults budgies. Its a high pitched peeping. If you have a nest full of hungry babies, they can really make a lot of noise.

Male budgie = either pinkish/purple when young and blue when older
Female = whitish/very light blueish color when not in breeding condition and light brown to dark crusty brown when in breeding condition

does your budgies have a white ring around its nostril? because if it does, than its a girl. and female birds are actually meaner =P

so im assuming that the smaller ones are the ones who arent being fed by the parents? i think eagles do that or something?
geekbeeterupper 3 years ago
no the eggs are layed every other day and they hatch in that order too so, the older ones are much bigger than the youngest
petowii 3 years ago

Since the chick was a baby, then a child. Thus it became an adult.
