Hmmm... I think there are better techniques & drills than this- checkout Magpul, Haley Strategic, Costa Ludus, etc. Compare these and look for the most efficient & dynamic drills that will help in the real world. IOW dont settle for less, especially when it comes to you life &/or the lives of your loved ones.
Shooting someone seven, eight, or more times up close will likely land you in prison.
Starting from the grip makes no sense, unless you have broken the motion down and then piece it together. This clip alone is misleading.
Also, while running this drill, once the shots are off and the "threat" is neutralized, you shouldn't relax and reholster. Where is the mugger's buddy or lookout? What else is going on around you? That moment's relaxation is what might get you killed, why practice it?
At close quarters, his weapon retention plays a roll here as well, verses sticking that gun OUT THERE up to eye level and possibly having some asshole grab it from you.
Keep it tight, Keep it IN close and keep it SHOOTING..until there is NO MORE threat! Its easier to explain LATER to the Cops, when your not DEAD! !
3 Things will get you KILLED in an armed confrontation:1: TALKING, when you should be SHOOTING!2:TALKING, when you should be SHOOTING! 3:TALKING, when you should be SHOOTING!
Well he has copied the "Applegate" method of shooting from the 1940's. You can practice shooting from the hip with an empty handgun dry firing in front of a mirror using your own reflection as the target. You will get to see where the barrel of the pistol is pointed at. This Rayburn guy goes into over kill with firing too much ammo at one time, double tap instead.
Thugs know to point and spray bullets in the general direction of the target while running for cover and changing directions away from the line of fire. They also know that a NON-center-of-mass shot will STILL tilt the gunfight in their favor; so they do not waste time aiming for a chest or head hit and just try to get hits ANYWHERE on the target; these shots will invariably affect the cop's aim and confidence to the point where he is panicked and uncoordinated; needing the entire squad for one
Yeah... this guy has some bad history with a private security company in Iraq. His actions got some people killed according to some of the witnesses there. And he bad mouthed and placed blame everywhere else to get the donkey off his shoulders. All this coming from others not first hand knowledge... for what it's worth

You have Mike mixed up with James Yeager.
PS--Applegate did not like hip shooting.
