The antelope at the very end, had to have been one of the luckiest animals ever. Not just to survive the cheetahs choke hold, but usually once the hyena takes the first bite from the soft belly area, it would be torn open. I guess it was just meant to be.

@Benderrr111 it is a cheetah, and indeed it abandonned its prey and the fight with the hyena because it was exhausted.

Cheetahs are the fastest animals on earth and they have one of the best hunting success ratio. But what they gain in speed they lose in strength. The effort they put while hunting is incredible and sometimes they need to rest over 20 minutes.

Everything is balanced in nature thats why it is so beautiful. The only creature that is breaking the balance in this world are humans.

@Benderrr111 around 90% of cheetah kills are stolen by hyenas and lions. Hyenas often steal kills from cheetahs. They will watch a cheetah make a kill, then chase the exhausted cat away from its kill, as the cheetah is not strong enough to fight off the larger hyena, nor able to sustain severe injuries, as any injuries to the cheetah will impair its ability to hunt.

The zebra mother won though. She shielded the calf from the lion (like a football blocker). When the got into the deep water the calf escaped. Watch again.

Sorry to inform u, the Foal didnt escape, the footage is off Nat Geo, i think its Valley of Thorns. The lioness jumped on the foals back and grabbed it in the water. The camera man then got a closeup shot of the foal's legs as the lioness dragged its body away. Zebra-Equine-Foal.

Thanks. There were actually two foal in pic and I supposed my friend didn't get away. :-(

I think the point of the clip was to show the survival instincts. The zebra sacrificing itself to sheild the foal from danger. However, I've seen another brutal clip of a hyena ripping a foal to shreds... face first. It was horrifying. The adult zebras stood by helplessly.

The impala was really, really fortunate. The cheetah was exhausted and couldn't eat. The hyena (scavenger) would have gotten the mother cheetah. The impala was fortunate that the hyena didn't rip its underbelly with those powerful jaws. I was glad the impala got away. Those animals are a thing of beauty in the open field.
