SmellyGymShortsman, West track is too small for a car like yours to perform really well. Alot of negative camber, race tires and a proper suspension would fair alot better on west track.
hey man..where are u from???i really really wanna buy a supra..but here in greece we only have 8 and noone is selling them :(its my dream to get one..if u ever want to sell it please inform me
understood, my corolla is a lot easier to push to its limit than your supra, i guess..
but you're the driver of your car,not me, and the way i see this vid, there is still a possibility for you to improve the way you drive it.. i dont think this vid shows the best you can do with your supra, does it?
by the way why do you have the on/off sw for the turbo?
A corolla is much more forgiving than a supra. there is much more room for improvement which comes with seat time. the car has a single turbo which hits hard - one second I have 150rwhp and then the next I have 400rwhp. Modulating the throttle with a single turbo supra is different than an oem twin turbo supra or naturally aspirated car which each have more linear powerbands.
the 85% is a comment when you said that SGS's dricing is good enough based on this vid. well yea its pretty good (thats why i put 85% instead of 50%), but its not good enough, it always can be better. but if 85% is good enough, then you'll automatically tell yourself that "its good enough, no need to learn more.." all i'm saying to this vid is, get closer to the lines, reduce the skids, so you can reduce the chance of the car going all over, or losing control. could save tire life a lil too..
General points: (1) these videos are not meant to be pefect runs, (2) braking: late braking is clearly helpful if executed right -sometimes you will brake too late (it happens when you are trying to see the limits, drive a 3600lb car, have brake fade, and are going in straights fast); and (3) lines: i do not believe there is a set line that one must take - certain things work for certain cars; moreover this is the purpose of these events - to collect data and figure out what works
i'm not offending you in anyways here man, thats why i comment on this vid, because this vid is not a prove of a perfect driving. i agree on all 3 of your points, in this vid you're still learning, finding a better way to drive the horses or whatever you want to call it how you want to do it.. and my opinion is that you're still able to improve it. i know how it feels having a brake fade, car too heavy an all that.. thats why here we learn and comment on vids, so we know what we could do better.
if you're only focusing on eating every turns as fast as you can, then your habit of letting the tire skid will make you pit stop more often, true that in this case there is no pit stop, but why dont we learn just one way, no stopping in the middle. means, learn straight forward to become a real racer, instead of just trying to get a better lap. i guess it all depends on what you want to be..
alright, i'll just wrap up my conversation with 01Z06guy since this is not leading to any understanding. all i know is you're defending SGS, waht i'm trying to say is, if you just reduce the tire slipage a little by driving closer to perfect lines, you'll save few milliseconds, no matter you brake so late or early. cuz when the tire slips, thats the fastest the car can go at taht moment on that turn. if you could reduce the slips, you save lil tire life, so you can run the car longer, fewer pit
Why don't you mod your Integra up to 435whp and go try to get the fastest possible lap time on street tires then post the video? Let's see how perfect and clean your lines are.
hey man, whats the point of driving a fast car if you dont know how to "drive" it on track? are you taking control of your car, or you let your car control you?
SmellyGymShorts does know how to drive his car. I watched your video (I little then I fell asleep) I'm pretty sure SGS could drive circles around you. At least he tries to make quick laps. If he drove as slow as you, he would be super smooth. Who cares? Anybody can be smooth going slow. So I ask you, what's the piont of driving on the race track if you are just going to drive very slow in a slow car?
well i proudly admit that i'm still slow now, and my car is slow. i'm still in DE1, so my point of driving on race track (based on my viceo you saw) is to drive slow, and "LEARN" fast, instead of RACING. get it? if you're trying to drive your fast car as fast as you can but forgetting the lines, you're wasting important seconds of every laps, also burn more tires, etc.
what i'm saying is if you drive your perfect line (at least try to), i'm sure you can collect few milliseconds, look smarter too
Well how about until you learn how to go fast in a fast car, you refrain from putting people down who already are fast? Until you've driven a powerful car to the limits of traction on the track, you are in no place to judge or insult those who do. It's not the same as learning lines in a low powered car. Watch some videos of professionals doing it and you'll find that fast is not always driven the same way as in low powered cars.
i did not judge or insult anyone who drives a fast car on any track in anyway. i'm judging you because you threw a cow to StockDC2 about mod up the integra to 435whp and see how he drives HUGE HORSE just because he said that the supra driver drove all over the place. the whole point is if one follows the lines, at least try to, even though one drives a 9000WHP car on a track, one will collect free few milliseconds also save a bit rubbers, instead of just trash the HP car to every corners.
"if one follows the lines...one will collect free few milliseconds"
I think SGS learned early on the same thing I did through analyzing my lap times and video. As an ametuer, the best way to pick up time is through late braking. My lap could be ugly, but if I braked later than usual, my lap time was faster anyway. You can have your milliseconds by driving when you imagine to be the perfect line. I'll take my whole seconds by learning how deep I can run into every corner.
SGS is pretty much on the correct racing line most of the time anyway. It looks like he brakes a tad late and runs a little bit deep sometimes. So what? He's trying to brake as late as possible and he's driving fast. It's a long way from not knowing how to drive and "letting the car control you," whatever that means. Let's see you threshold braking at the last possible moment and hitting every single apex perfectly with a 430whp car, then you can say he doesn't know how to drive.
"It looks like he brakes a tad late and runs a little bit deep sometimes. So what?" whats that? lets say 85%, is good enough for you? then you can never reach 99%.
ok, let's make it straight, guy. i'm not saying that i can drive the 430HP car better than the owner, what i'm saying is, he could've or should've drive the HORSE to better lines, true that he's not too bad, but if anyone TRY to drive the perfect lines, they WILL save few milliseconds on every lap times, which is important in racing.
"whats that? lets say 85%, is good enough for you? then you can never reach 99%"
What are you talking about? Just because I fail to put SGS down for braking a tad too late a couple times and I defend his driving from those with no similar expirience that find it necisarry to insult his driving on his videos, it means I can never improve myself?
frankly man, that would be like shit hard for me to drive those 430 horses perfectly, it shouldn't be that hard for the owner to drive it. but again, we're just saying that SGS should work more on his lines with his 435HP supra, not any other car.. never stop learning..
I'm informing you that until you've done what he is doing and know what you are talking about, you are in no place to tell him what he should be doing as you have no idea what style of driving produces results for him or even what the correct line is for his car and driving style. Suggestions maybe, but stating you know for a fact what he should do differently is a joke.

In addition, the car in this video is rwd and has on/off switch turbo -- it is not nearly as docile as a 94 corrola.
