This song represents what makes metal such a great genre: it incites the people it rejects into making total fools of themselves. It uses its own critics to demonstrate its points rather than preach them explicitly, like punk and others tend to do. The people who freaked out about this song probably hadn't spent more than 2 seconds thinking about it, let alone listening to it or reading its lyrics. Hair metal did this kind of thing with Tipper Gore and the angry moms in the 1980s-90s. Awesome.
Good song, though I'm over the whole "bawww the human race sucks!! bawwww" If someone is so filled with hatred that they want the entire human race to be wiped out, more than likely, they have a bit of a problem as well as the entirety of the human race. I'll always love metal, but this ideology is for angst-y children. There is nothing productive about Hatred.
This man is a genious! Not only he plays all the instruments, like (minimum) 3 guitars, drums, acoustic guitars and maybe just added effects, but the violin, the piano, organs, flute and so on, he has great voice even when he's growling!

Vladimir's music is the complete embodiment of misanthropy. I don't think other bands would ever be able to perfect this notion to the point he did... And the funny thing in that is that he doesn't even have a "band". That is the extent of his hate for mankind : He is truly alone.
This is my favorite band. Vladimir gives his music so much direction compared to other metal musicians. Mirrorthrone songs almost remind me of classical music because of their complexity and direction.
these vocal harmonies at 4:10 are just pure magic.. First time I heard the song, I did not except this at all, it's like they came out of nowhere but at the perfect moment. I don't know. Spiritual Black Dimensions is one of the most beautiful black metal album I've ever listened to, and In Sorte Diaboli was hands down a masterpiece. Death Cult Armageddon had its moments too (Progenies, anyone?).

Which is what he does. He's playing a synthesizer. There are still many bands that use full orchestras when possible. It's not really feasible to carry around an entire orchestra with you on tour every year.
even if most of them arent this heavy. aroah1337 has a point. having a full 100+ orchestra around to every tour location would be RIDICULOUS. its still classified as symphonic metal if its got the symphonic components no matter what makes them.

Hey i listen to Dimmu Borgir and think their great.
And I'm almost 18 and hate the satan worshiping crap but their music is really good.
That is a strong statement to put out about a bands fan base if you don't have the right facts for it. :(

I don't know. Spiritual Black Dimensions is one of the most beautiful black metal album I've ever listened to, and In Sorte Diaboli was hands down a masterpiece. Death Cult Armageddon had its moments too (Progenies, anyone?).
But yeah, Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia was pure shit, and I hope they never go that way again.

Avant-garde doesn't mean weird. It can be avant-garde when you experiment a lot, with different instruments and such.
Mirrorthrone is avant-garde metal because it's one of few (if any) bands that mix metal with a symphony orchestra.

I know what avant-garde is, and I never said it was "weird" - I acknowledge it as experimental, but this is still far from avant-garde. I am pretty sure that Mirrorthrone. among a myriad of bands, isn't the only one to mix metal with "symphony orchestra"(Mirrorthrone is a one-man-project with a genius behind it: Vladimir Cochet).

Note that I wrote Symphony ORCHESTRA, not symphonic elements. And with that I mean Vladmir includes instruments like cello, bassoon, oboes, clarinets, horns and so on. With symphony orchestra, I don't mean the fuckin' string ensemble on keyboards.

Which is what he does. He's playing a synthesizer. There are still many bands that use full orchestras when possible. It's not really feasible to carry around an entire orchestra with you on tour every year.

even if most of them arent this heavy. aroah1337 has a point. having a full 100+ orchestra around to every tour location would be RIDICULOUS. its still classified as symphonic metal if its got the symphonic components no matter what makes them.
