sexual orientation has nothing to do with whether or not people desire monogamous relationships. there are many bisexuals who are willing to commit to just one partner, just as hetero- and homosexuals would. the only difference is that a monogamous bisexual would be willing to do so with a partner of either gender. even people attracted to just one gender might not have all their sexual desires fulfilled by their partner, but nonetheless they have the choice to commit.

Just saw this ad for the first time tonight here in Houston. Sadly, the first problem is choosing the wrong mate. The second problem is treating marriage like a contract when it is in fact a covenant. The difference is that a covenant is not dependent on the other person. We ought to love our mate no matter what, the same way that Christ loves us - that's the basis for a truly lasting marriage. If yours doesn't have that kind of solid foundation, it is sure to fail. I actually appreciate your honest sentiment. My question is... is it possible for biology to play a certain serious role in our sexuality? I mean... testosterone is there for a reason. It wasn't until fairly recently in our species that the institution of monogamous marriage came into play. I understand it's advantages, certain, but what is the nature of humans at some level is to be polyamorous.

After all... it'd increase population size and genetic diversity. Perhaps you truly do love someone deeply, but still need the physical diversity of another person in a rare situation? This ad is just ridiculous however and distasteful completely. That also said... I would never do this to anyone I committed myself to or loved personally. I think honesty is absolutely always the best policy in a relationship. I do see where the concept he's presenting can come into play in a much more real way.

cphunk - it all depends on your point of view. I can see that you are not speaking from a Christian perspective whereas I am. Biblical Christians believe God created the world in total perfection, but then sin came in and messed it up. With God's help we can still follow His plan for truly happy and fulfilling lives, in spite of the evil in the world. But most people just take the easier route and do what is right in their own eyes... and never realize what they are missing.
