@theultimatewarior001 Dracula 2000 was made in 2000, Van Helsing was made in 2004, it's not a sequel.

Van Helsing was based on the hero, Abraham Van Helsing, of the book Dracula. The creator wanted to make a movie that combined Dracula, the Frankenstein Monster, and the Wolf Man in the same movie so he used Van Helsing to do it. And did it very well might I add.

The daughter in Dracula 2000 was probably based on the Abraham Van Helsing from the book not the Gabriel Van Helsing from this movie.

I don't know why everybody knocks Van Helsing, it is one of those movies that if its on, you sit down and watch it because it is entertaining. Its got a great leading man, an outstanding story, and while it is a little cheesy at times, i think thats what makes it a great movie. I hope they do make a sequel and decide to turn it into a film franchise or maybe a tv show.

My point is yes, pointing the camera at a screen is my work because I made it it's mine I hosted that lobby and I filmed everything going on in it, it belongs to me.

In your case someone made a puzzle and you want credit for putting it together no, that's dumb, But whatever of course we are both gonna disagree with each other it's an ongoing argument. But if overall it is still nicely edited and good on your part I just disagreed with you wanting credit.

My youngest brother loves Van Helsing, though like you, I dont like emptiness in spectacle. They do have idenitcal premises, but Soloman Kane wins by how much more depth he's given in the trailer alone that I just watched. Stephen Sommer's Van Helsing was actually more rip off of Kane.

"Spiritual successor?" Like the sound of that. We can still present similar stories ideas & characters in new ways and add more to the table where others didnt, but carelessly it can still be a rip off.

His character description when first described by Robert is identical to what you see in either Kane or Van Helsing.

A very nice trailer that makes Van Helsing look rather more serious than the first film. I can't fault the technical work at all.

A note about Solomon Kane: Kane first appeared in the August 1928 issue of Weird Tales, predating Van Helsing (the film) by 76 years. Sommers used illustrations of Kane as inspiration for the character's costume design, so it's natural that the Kane film resembles Van Helsing, since VH was based on Kane in the first place.

I know that Solomon Kane is one of those pulp heroes from the '30s, but the upcoming film adaptation looks too similar to Van Helsing for my tastes. If anything I'd prefer it look more like Sleepy Hollow and be more Colonial Era instead of generic medieval/Renaissance horror-steampunk.

Sleepy Hollow (1790) and Van Helsing (1888) are both too late for a Solomon Kane aesthetic, which really is closer to medieval/renaissance than either of them, set in the late 16th/early 17th century. Ideally, I'd prefer it to resemble something more like Witchfinder General.

I will agree, though, that there are certain elements that are Van Helsingish that aren't from the stories: designer stubble, greasy tousled hair, altogether too handsome etc.

For all that I think they did pick a guy who looks realistically rugged, not with perfect hair and teeth and whatnot, and I appreciate the accent.
