how did you obtain a thunderbolt? i would like to get my hands on one for my own personal reasons, like an alarm clock that would actually get me out of bed, or something. *cough* neighborhood prank *cough cough*
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the solenoid on the left opens and the one on the right closes to make the low pitch, and the opposite happens to make the high pitch?
Im pretty sure you coudnt due to the fact that the horn of the tbolt 1000 is attached directlyto the chopper assemply and the 1003 horn is attached to the choper but i think you could
All chopper caps past the A series were drilled and tapped for either direct horn mounting or the solenoid bar. However, on a 1000 it would only be able to make pulsed (duh) and a 1000T with the bar is a 1003. However, it wouldn't be able to rotate because there isn't the slip rings that the 1003 has for the solenoids.
@vanamonde2 Now I have to ask. Is there some protection when the wind is blowing? Like it blows air out to make the sound but what if the wind blows into the horn. Is there protection against that or would there be side effects?
@turbocountry No there isn't any protection needed. Wind blowing into the horn doesn't do anything to the siren. There is a slip band in the rotator to allow the horn to slip in it's rotation if the wind is strong enough.
Where do you live? You really should choose a snazzy name for your siren restoration business like "Dallas County Choppers" or wherever you live! :) Put the two-wheeled variety of "choppers" to shame.
where'd you ger the thunderbolt?

Cool vid. I did not know that the bar across the horn was either shaped like that or controlled the hi-lo signal.

Thanks! I knew about how solenoids worked before but I'd never seen exposed solenoids in action. Nice demo!

What's the sound output like without the blower? I'd imagine not much more than a vacuum?

any way to get the solenoid box and add it to a t-bolt 1001?

@MaryStewart nope.

so the Solenoids have to be open for it to do alert and attack
thunderbolt1000t1003 2 years ago
Yes. The solenoids only close when power is applied to them.

does it spin?
bearlovesox 3 years ago
I guess you mean the horn? Yes it does but it's not mounted to anything so I can't run the rotator.
