  • Oh my god !

this proof is enough to state tat Gods dont exist in Temples alone ! :-)

  • he is music god. god dos't take awards and no one give to awards to god.

  • If god would compose and write lyrics this is how it would be and well the voices are truly divine.shreyas intro raga brings tears of joy...thanks illayaraja sir by amar reddy

  • got goosebumps and tears in eyes for the first 2 min!!!

  • how can people dislike this? oh well.

  • can any one tell me the meaning of the song from 2:29 to 2:40. which was sung by raja sir

  • @MeetShiv26 Oscar is not given for Indian Films.. Composing for 800 films still don't even have a oscar or a gramy, no bafta no golden globe... nothing.. he might be a good music director... but dare to compare with rahman.. 2 oscars, BAFTA, 2 Grammy, Golden Globe.. listed in the future musicans list.. fuck of guys...

  • @prostitutesneha Rahman is a dirt when compared to IR. Oscars is given to ENGLISH movies. . OScar award is given for the best MARKETING.

  • Oh really smart ass? Did Illayaraja get one? Who stopped him from lobbying for oscars? did someone ask him not to score for english films? he didn't get oscars right, then why dont you shut the fuck up. Raja is poop when compared to rahman howzz that?

All ya faggots out there.. rahman isn't great just coz he received oscars..he would still be be great even if he didn't receive any.

  • @ stegBala. You are sick . go and check yourself with a psychiatrist before commenting about Mr. ILLAYARAJA. how can you abuse a person like this who is very talented and do not want to show off.

may be you don't know that he was biased by caste.the film industry don't even celebrated when he got Maestro title , only because of his cast.

you should be ashamed to comment like this.

'Gnana Sooniyam' like you do not have the rights(even in dream) to talk about him.

  • amazing. though the swaras are just S,R,G, there are different pitches within R (R1, R2, R3) and G (G1, G2, G3) and seems like he has smartly used them to introduce subtle variations. respect.

  • @StegBala .... Agreed Rehman is good ,, he won us an oscar .. but not for an indian film ... getting an oscar also depends on how much you market the film .. and what reach you have globally .... Rehman dint get the award for Roja, Dil Se ... Do you think Slumdog is his best ? If yes, you dont fucking know jack-shit about music ... further, your english is so crappy .. Pl. stop comparing rehman and illayaraja .... if you dont like illayaraja what the F r u doing here posting comments ?

  • legends.. we r all from 4 diff parts of our country.. the least we can do to them is to cherish them if not tarnish their legendeary contribution to our diverse society.. enjoy this master piece n move on to the next... could be rahman or even ismail darbar..

    :-)

  • rahman is a contemporary great. n of course he's won us an oscar. but this maestro u r watching has cmpsed sme very small 800 odd films and a small 4000 odd no of songs only. :-) unfortunately these small men like ilayaraja, s.d burman, r.d. burman, msv, ramamurthy, chandrajeet. etc.sorry if ive left other grt legends had not enough media to publicise or de publicise them n neither they had this international longing for an oscar.. we have seen many legends n we will continue to c even more

  • @StegBala Stop cursing others. . . Even i am a big fan of Rahman. . . But, Do you think that can take away the great work done by composers like Ilayaraja, MSV, SD Burman, RD Burman. . . Not at all. Dont they deserve an Oscar... Yes they do but, it depends on the material presented and people involved in the project. For me without too much marketing or promotions RAJA sir composed a song which was listedi n Top hundred songs in the world by TIMES and thats a big achievement.

  • @sf49ersrule Time has referred to him as the "Mozart of Madras" and several Tamil commentators and fans have coined him the nickname இசைப் புயல் In 2009, Time placed Rahman in its list of World's Most Influential People.

  • @sf49ersrule Our boy has been Described as the world's most prominent and prolific film composer by Time, his works are notable for integrating eastern classical music with electronic music sounds, world music genres and traditional orchestral arrangements. He has won two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe, four National Film Awards, fourteen Filmfare Awards, thirteen South Filmfare Awards in addition to numerous other awards and nominations.

  • Stop this lousy comparisons. Winning those international awards dont mean anything as compared to the talents that Rahman compete with in his home soil, even he said it. And Rahman's guru and idol had always been Mr Illayaraja...so stop comparing and enjoy the music that these two great musicians can give us..........but truly speaking, Mr Illayaraja is really one of a kind...

  • amazing, soothing :)

  • @StegBala lol. Is that why one of Ilayaraja's songs is ranked fourth in the world by BBC RADIO? Honestly, I love AR Rahman's music, but he is overrated. Rahman cannot touch Ilayaraja, no one can.

  • This is great song but not only this song each and every song of Maestro is Master pieces.....one n only man can create awesome Originals.....

  • permutations and combinations

  • nice telugu lyrics

  • Comment removed

  • sing the song properly.....lol

  • sp what u doin there?if u an anchor then thats ok.

  • may be we don have a better musician and settling for ilayaraja?

  • south indians are genius ;)

  • she is shreya ghosal

  • who is the female singer?

  • it's funny that given the complexities of Indian music. they used only 3 notes. It's cool though.

  • Comment removed

  • Greatest composer of all times!

  • 18 dislikes.... omg r u people deaf ....

u ppl have no music sense ...

  • He is lucky to learn both Carnatic and Western in two different continents and merge it according to the latest Trend. He is lucky to have such a wonderful orchestra too. They give him backup in live. We are luck to have a great composer, Ilayaraja gaaru...

  • @prostitutesneha ....... u suck stupid, ilayaraaja is the best and equal to 100 rahman's

  • Hatred begins when comparison begins. Let us listen to their great tunes and indulge in joy bros. We are all human beings and we have our own identity. Like that IR has his own unique way of composing a song and so ARR....)

  • Height of brilliance sir!

  • we are not even eligible to compare and comment abt both raja and ar.. we are blessed to enjoy their work..

  • @gujalguy ivanunga thirundhave matanunga boss.....only fools will go for a comparison between IR n ARR...they are the other two legends Tamil industry ever have apart from MSV

  • Remember the greatness of AR Rahman not only lies in his music, but he is being given a media pep every time he scores a music for any film or album be it of any language, but think of a.r rahman without such media help or surrounding directors. He is now concentrating more on world music rather neglecting his home industry. This is equal to betrayal of the trust. It is fate that even I will not be surprised if AR gets Dadasaheb Phalke in the next few years. This is India for you

  • @chananc84 sollitaru da Isai pathi ellam therinja ekambaram!!! Etho ezutha edam kudutha enna vena ezhuthuviya nee.. Yaaru isaignani yaaru illa nu avanga avangalukku theriyum.. Nee vera vela edathavathu iruntha poi paaru..

  • @chananc84 Don't create hatred against ARR, bro

  • @chananc84 Thevudiya pullaiyae..... Before you comment mind your words. His achievement is somewhat unachievable by anyone.

  • does anyone know which movie was teh telugu song...?

  • Ilayaraja Is the KING Of Music .......

  • Life'la mudhal thadava santhosha kanneer vanthadhunnaa adhu avar paattu kaetta apram thaan

  • Where do ordinary people like us stand to speak what he is. His compositions are beyond words to describe.

  • Raja is the lord of music. Truly the best of the best of the best!!!!

  • see the entire audience applause to this genius

  • It's an example of genius at work...amazing composition....

  • fuckin brilliant!!!!

  • raja raja raja raja raja raja music raja

  • Could any one tell me who wrote Telugu lyrics!

I believe the lyrics are instantaneous , thats it has been written "talam tadakdimi tanamai TANUVANTHA PULAKALU REPAGAA".. which means the rhythm gives me goose bumps!

Almost instantaneously written. I reckon could be by Late Sri Veturi

  • The specialty about Maestro is all his composing is original or directly from the musical equipments and not borrowed from any composed musics....Thats is King Ilayaraja..Not even AR Rahman or anybody can do this....

  • raja always raja

  • SHREYA GOSHAL"S VOICE MIND BLOWING YA!!!!

  • I absolutely LOVE this!! Bravo!

  • I really, really like this! You may find it interesting that I found this like while searching for music written in notes C and E. The reason is because I found homeopathic info relating colors and music to certain medical/psychological/emotional issues. Both my daughter and I, but mostly my daughter, seem to fall into the musical note E and color category of Yellow as being the "therapies" we need. The logo on the clip has a yellow background. Interesting. :)

  • "FANTASTIC"

  • From which movie is this song?it was beautiful and hearttouching..

  • purely divine...

  • I had goosebumps the first time i heard this. Amazing Illay!!!

  • only illayaraja (ISAIYA RAJA ) alone can do this.... If music can heal, isaiya raja is the only doctor in the entire world....

  • anushanush ur an idiot get outa youtube u idiot.. llayaraja dosent know music hes an idiot he says 3 notes thats not 3 notes.. for any of the songs me made or watched hes an idiot lil kid

  • mYMAESTRO IsaiNyaNi ILayaRaja aiYa,LoVe uR MUSIC moRe THaN mySELF aLwayz n ForeVeR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    UnggaL paaTuku naaN adiMai!!!.................

  • fantasticcccccccc

  • Absolutely rocks!!!! i coulldn have guesed it was 3 notes/... too good!!!!

  • hatts off to ilayaraja ..

  • Definitely had more notes than the three..... But only in the orchestration.. WHO CARES.!!!!!!!!! ILAYARAJA IS GOD.!!!!! :-D No one can attempt such a thing.....

  • does anyone know the title of that particular song ?

  • great music director... but unfortunately, not a good showman

  • i'm sorry its they not gey..

  • can anyone tell me what gey are talking?

  • awesome.!!

  • Oh God !!! Take our life and give this genius more life to live in promoting ---- Music & Tamil.

  • Nothing but Illayaraja

  • Beautiful.. It reminds me of LegendaryPakistani MD from 1940s to 70's. Baba G.A.Chishty who composed a Punjabi Song hun moi hun moi in just 2 notes when he was challenged that 7 notes are way to many for Japanese who can compile mostly in 3 notes :-)

  • 4:31 to 5:24

  • no match what so ever thnks sir for mesmerizing music by u maestro at work

  • I cannot imagin such a immediate response... imagination.. living legend..

  • This a very good example of creativity, quite interesting and even more interesting is that how Sherya Ghosal had the sur's loosely delivered at places. Even legends are not perfect, no one is. A great show.

  • His popularity has no match and so does his talent.

  • Ilayaraja looks hawt n saxy

  • Comment removed

  • yes ...

  • There is no right to talk badly about others language publicly. You say proudly about you own language if you CAN. Who is someone to talk about languages.

  • Comment removed

  • Ilayaraja specialty is that he made south indians to forget music directors before him...and is not allowing any current music director to come even near to his place in the hearts of south music lovers..

  • Someone told me this.. in a days when Hindi music is liked, he made the South Indians return to hear south melodies. A.R.Rahman went from South and won everyone in India and made them like south melodies (eg. Alaipayudhe movie songs). Each of them is unique in their own way. It is an evolution and we cannot compare one with the other - just enjoy!!!

  • @ravikaundinya -Do u know that people like Manirathnam, Balachander & even Bharathiraja who made many movies with Ilayaraja never went back to him once A.R. Rahman came into this industry?..... Forget about SA-RE-GA......... Vinnai Thandi Varuvaaya is special bcoz it was composed without going through all these regular raga's.

  • please talk with sense dude...every music composer, may it be indian or any international music directors, they will have to go through some notes trials before producing any audible music that is listenable....

why is that the you guys are so adamant in not accepting illayaraja's passion and brilliance in music when good music directors such as AR RAHMAN idolizes him as a guru....and the reason why he is not in favor of composing as much as before s because as you can see above

  • he has gone a step further to experiment music at its very best....and he had reduced his involvement in films because he has passed his legacy to his sons , so that they can come up as good music directors...

  • @millions1022

Do know something abt Raja - Usually cine posters shows only the hero and heroine and the other actors. But in 80s it starts to show the music director also - it was Ilayaraja. His music dominates the tamil cine world at that time. Most of the films hit by his music regardless of actor - director. Many producers wanted to reduce the fame of Ilayaraja. They tried many music directors but didn't succeded.

    For example AVM projects CHANDRABOSE

  • @millions1022

-- Balachander tried MARAGATHAMANI -- Bharathiraja tried DEVENDIRAN, AMSALEKA but they didn't deviate from the style of Ilayaraja. Then DEVA comes but he openly told that he is not competitor of ILAYARAJA and he just followed him. Then comes AR RAHMAN - He also anounced the respect of ILAYARAJA he avoided the contraversy with ILAYARAJA. At the same time RAJA reduces commitment of scoring music for films. He scores only for selected directors.

  • @millions1022

//Do u know that people like Manirathnam, Balachander & even Bharathiraja who made many movies with Ilayaraja never went back to him once A.R. Rahman came into this industry?..... // It is not true that they want to go back to ILAYARAJA. But ILAYARAJA avoids them. This is true. Now also BHARATHIRAJA waiting for ILAYARAJA's music for his dream project. For each and every film after ROJA and BOMBAY, Manirathnam went to ILAYARAJA but ILAYARAJA didn't accept.

  • @millions1022

Do u know BALUMAHENDRA one of the great Director - told that he would not direct films if ILAYARAJA refuses to music his film. Fazil a malayalam film diector uses different music director in malayam but when he directs a tamil film ILAYARAJA is music director. Dont think Manirathnam, Balachander & Bharathiraja never went back to him once A.R. Rahman. It is ILAYARAJA that refuses them.

  • @MrSanmoo ...Balachandar and Manirathnam are treacherous. When somebody gets an excellent customer service from an MD, he will not go to others. They both went to some other guy .. it amounts to treachery.. Look at them now.. their movies are lifeless without Ilayaraja's music..

  • @MrSanmoo .. I think u know nothing about history...... It is because of Ilayaraja's arrogance led Manirathnam bring A.R. Rahman into this world and followed by many directors. Fazil can choose Ilayaraja as many times as he wants and that's the reason why his recent movie songs are not popular

  • @millions1022 : Sorry abt your knowledge of Ilaiyaraaja's music history. He is not arrogant. Balachandar made him such as after the movie Puthu Puthu arthangal. You might be know ROJA is the film under Balachandar banner. Because of ego of Balachandar Maniratnam had to use AR RAHMAN. After that movie Mani was made as a National director. After Roja and Bombay, the movies directed by him were not up to the level. You know onething for his next movie ponniyin selvan mani wanted Ilaiyaraaja.

  • @millions1022 - This is absolutely laughable. Nandalala's background score is something which Indian cinema hasn't seen before. And don't even compare Rehman to Raaja. Rehman has done 100 movies in 19 years of career, with a lot of tune schuffles, copying etc. Raaja did 600 movies in 15 years with everything being original. Raaja is an everest and Rehman is probably a mole hill

  • @athreyaa Exactly don't compare raja with rahman. Raja is DOG, Rahman is GOD.

Raja scored 600 films? So what? deva has composed 500 films in 10 years so why dont you claim deva is better than illayaraja... you crackhead. illayaraja is disgrace to music.Nadalala's bgm is bloody aweful & annoying..

  • @miamyguy - Dear Sir - By resorting to insults, you are showing that you are charged emotionally and not approaching the arguement intellectually. What are your musical credentials? If you wanna argue, I am open to a debate. Lets take examples, and show me how Rehman is musically superior to Illayaraja. Dont show commercial reasons or the awards he has got etc. I need musical examples. I can show countless examples of why Illayaraja is GOD. Do you have the guts to accept my challenge?

  • @athreyaa I showed commercial reasons? cmon.. it was you who showed numbers.. 600 films blah...blah...You wanna debate? Sure..why dont you start showin me some examples? Btw what r ur musical credentials?

  • @miamyguy - I didnt say you showed commercial reasons. I just clarified that if we debate, do not show commercial reasons. The numbers argument is incorrect because I clearly said 600 films in 15 years and all of them are original. Deva's music is never original. Im a trained musician in carnatic and western classical music. Studied for sometime with a famed music college in the US. Can we start with comparing ARR and IR's movies with similar story lines? How about Raavan and Guna?

  • @athreyaa You dont have to go to fancy school to appreciate good music..I didn't go to none...

Raavan & guna? Sure I prefer raavan over guna...I barely recall any music from guna..

  • @miamyguy - Ofcourse not. But appreciation is different from analysis. I barely recall any music from Raavan but remember every note from Guna. See - What we need to understand is, appreciation and feeling good is subjective. But while comparing the music of two musicians, one need to be objective. So can we leave the subjectivities behind and try to objectively analyse their music? Can you tell me what was ARR conveying when he did the background scores and songs for Raavan?

  • @athreyaa It a mix of feelings...Love, Hate, Betrayal, arrogance, Rustic Nature of the forest, its toughness, serenity and what not. And do remember unlike guna, raavan was a bilingual, it should be appealing to people beyond the vindyas as well. No wonder ppl like you with carnatic bg couldn't recall any music from raavan (though I know you're lying) Guna? Hee..Hee sorry I couldn't help myself but laugh.

  • @miamyguy - A - Im not lying. B. My carnatic background is as good as my western music background. C. When did you watch Guna lastly? How old were you? What can you recall of the music? Do you remember the lead BGM before Paartha Vizhi Paarthabadi song and the conclusion after that?

  • @athreyaa What? OMG!..seriously? I dont see this taking us anywhere...

You can never convince me that Raja is better than rahman, I know the fact. so lets kills this here..I got better things to do..bye...

  • @athreyaa Btw you mentioned all of illayaraja's were orignial right? search for copycat-illayaraja in youtube, you'll change your opinion

  • This composition is used by him in Hindi movie "PAA" . . . song is mudi mudi

  • Actually the song is Gumm Summ Gumm that uses this tune :)

  • The greatest composer! No one touches your heart like Ilayaraja!

  • Best video in youtube!!!!thanks Youtube

  • IR is great. marvellous composition with a limitation only IR can do this. long live IR.

  • ilayaraja gurinchi cheppadaniki manam saripomu......he is great.

  • MSV composed a song "Adisaya Ragam" in the movie Apoorva Ragangal, with just 3 notes.

  • No :-) The Raga he used for that song is called Mahathi.. It has four notes.. They are Sa, Ga, Pa and Ni..

  • Correct me if I am wrong. Is Mahati a creation of Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna?

  • I think you are right :-) Because, as per what I heard is that, he also named his daughter Mahathi after he created this Raga :-) Not 100% sure of it.. But anyways.. Just what I heard and read...

  • marvelous... genius... messenger of god..

  • Oh my God !!!!!!

  • Admist all the stalwarts...look at the petite Shreya....wow!!!

  • Genius! With just three notes, he makes a melody...what an uncompromising melody?! Wonderful! He skips the notes from lower E to upper C, D and E in the stanzas...and takes you on a roller coaster ride!

Tell me which company sells this patch/sequence/loop and I will buy it.

    Priceless melody, Eternal Ilayaraja!

  • This was actually tailor made by Illayaraja for a concert in Italy. He had mentioned that he has composed this song with the affection with which a mother makes food for her children.. He got a great reception from the audience there who needed a translator to explain how he composed the song....

    Genius!!!!!!

  • BTW, can anyone point me to the actual song...if its on youtube...Thanks!

  • I am not Tamil and did not understand a single word..but the music and singing was simply studendous! Ilayaraja is a genius!...Tamils are certainly very cultured people and this performance and Ilayaraja's humble bearing reflects that...It is about time we shed aside the pettiness and devisiveness in our society and stand united as Bharatvarshis' to regain our golden past... That piece of music really touched a chord in my heart!!!

  • The 3 notes composition is already done by the great Dr Balamuraliji. The raga is Sarvasri and song is Umasudham. Listen to Malgudi Days scored by the great L.Vaidyanathan. The bit "Thaanaana thana nana naa..." is in 3 notes Sa,Ri,Ga. Vaidy had brought folk in just 3 notes!! Listen to this video from 2.03 to 2.10. It has the swaras Ma, Pa, Dha, Ma, Ri (Dha, Ma, Ri = Chord Dm Arpeggios). Hence the orchestration is not in 3 notes.

  • Sarvasri has 4 notes and not 3

  • Sarvasri has only 3 notes Sa, Ma, Pa and not 4 notes as you mentioned. There are also 4 notes ragas created by the greatest Balamurali Sir viz Mahati, Lavangi, Sumukam etc.`

  • True Musician.

  • movie name pllz

    simple magnificent music.

    hats-off to this guy

i d like to request the uploader/admin to put in the eng translation too. text comment or if possib (preferably) annotations in the vid itself

    thanks

  • Amongst other things, one of the most appealing factors in illayaraja's music is his simplicity in his music. Simple, yet brilliant....He brings the music to the people in a whole new way...

  • MUSIC=====ILLAYRAJA(ISAIGNANI)

  • is geniaal!!

  • After hearing this now I'm ready to die. No words to me to explain its!!!!!!!!!!

  • can any one provide me the same notes in CDE for this song i wanna try this in my casio..

  • One of the best I have heard! Amazing as always!!!!

  • he's just awesome i have heard somewere dat he's the teacher of ar rahman he's jus cool.

he's one of dee best music directors south india eva had n he must have been proud seeing his student winning thee oscars !!!!!

  • This is not 100% in 3 notes.. The voice tune alone is in 3 notes.. Even the lead instruments are in 3 notes only.. But if you check out the chords, and even the backing bass guitar and probably cello (not sure of cello) have other notes..!!! Listen carefully after 7:13...Anyways.. That doesn't matter..!!! Raja.!!!! You are still my GOD.!!!

    GOD(IR) and GOD(SPB) on stage..!!!

  • Its not more than 3 notes...its "C" "D" AND "E" !!

It varies from one octave to another !! Like he said its only sa re ga...when Shreya Goshal sings just hum and see !!

  • youre ritte barath

  • Does any1 know of a link to the original song?

  • Thats alot more than 3 notes. BS! What are you trying to pull here?

  • Comment removed

  • paravasam...

  • awsome

  • Dr.M.Balamuralkrishna had ,may be some 10 years ago had composed a Raga in 3 Notes .He used : 'Sa,Ma,&Pa"(C,F&G) & named the Rag " Sarvasri" & composed a song on lord Ganesh

  • haha..ARR is just a dust in front of Raja sir..keep your ***ing things with you
