  • once a friend of mine braided my mohawk into

one big cornrow...that looked so cool...but washing would have been too difficult

  • i watched this video and braided my own hair the same night its very simple i just sent it to my mom so she can learn how to braid her own also. THANKS

  • this hair style for males too ? just i have long hair not so long as in video,i just dont like short hair styles and want something new, this one i saw on males so need to know for sure

  • definitely best video i've seen so far about cornrows. its taken me forever to learn and now i know how. thanks =]

  • i wonder if i can try this with my shih tzu !

  • its very clear yet i cannot do it on myself

  • how long do cornrows last ?

  • how long hair you need to have this all over my head?

  • Depends on ur stylist , some people can grab really short hair. And some can do long also. So length doesnt rlly matter unless ur a skinned head or bald.

  • As long as you can "catch" or grip the hair, you can cornrow it no matter how short it is.

  • @TheYz7 your hair doesn't have to be that long, but it's definitely a harder task to cornrow with shorter hair. That is to say, you'd probably have trouble with it unless you were really good.

  • i have straight hairr. how long does it gotta be??..

  • As long as you can "catch" or grip the hair, you can cornrow it no matter how short it is.

  • Oh my god i wish u can do it for me...

  • i love ur voice its so soothing =P what a great tutorial, but I still can't get them to stay against the head because I think I'm not twisting right....

  • The best cornrow tutorial!!! Thx

  • I have tried so much and I just can't do it

  • @CerebralMadness yea, that sounds like me, but i'm gonna try again

  • Practice makes perfect :-) I'm jus learning too...I have the concept, but I just cant seem to do it :( PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE

  • how long does my hair have to be i got 2.5 in is that long enough for sunrise style cornrow

  • THIS IS GREAT! 10X A LOT! :))

  • i need me a hair braider that doesnt charge so much!!! lol i live in Dallas, Tx and all the ladies down here charge like 45 to90 dollars!!! lol ima tell my girl to learn with your video! thanks!!!

  • Yup. Same prices in Atlanta. I've decided I am going to learn for myself. This is a really good tutorial.

  • show us how to braid weave in

  • How long hold Cornrows ?

  • @9GoLum : The length of time depends on your daily activities and how you maintain them. If you work out or sweat a lot, they may last a week. If properly maintained, they can last as long as three weeks...(wear a scarf at night and apply hair gel to the hairline if the fly away hair is out of place)

  • question : how can i afro?

  • thanks...i havnt been using this technique, if i can learn this it would make doing my daughters hair so much faster

  • I never use to care to do this but now since I have a daughter ( and she will have long thick hair, like myself) this will be useful. Thanks for this vid.:-)

  • wow u make it look sooo easy i need to learn how to do it

  • wait so when you are twisting the hair where do u add it to? IAM CONFUSED BADD

  • When you twist the hair on one side, grab a little hair from underneath the braid, twist and add it to the other side.

  • @HairStrandz Can't that make your hair grow faster pretty much?

  • @realmofblood : Yes, it can help your hair grow faster because it is being protected from excessive use of heat and styling practices.

  • @HairStrandz O. I've had my my braids for at least 5 or 6 months there are now starting to reach my lower neck. My hair doesn't grow fast for real but they say that your hair can grow faster dirty is that true?

  • @realmofblood : That is "sort of" true..but the full fact is that clean hair will grow just as fast as dirty hair. The reason why that idea was created is because the scalp generates oil and African American hair requires moisture to prevent breakage. So...it tends to grow....plus you're not combing and handling your hair as much... Some people think that washing your hair "a lot" causes breakage.. not true. They believe that because washing the hair removes the moisture and ...

  • @realmofblood : (continued...) ...they do not know how to properly replace the moisture in the hair after a good cleansing. If you want to get your hair to grow SUPER fast with braids...apply Right On Instant Moisturizing conditioner to your braids. It will give your hair INSTANT moisture, plus make them look neater and tighter. (just a quick tip!) Works for me!!! :-)

  • thank you.

  • i can get the technique down, but how can i get the beginning to be tighter ive tried to tighten it, ive tried to make it smaller, and cant get it... ty

  • Smaller is good, but it is all about holding the hair taut with your fingers and twisting the hair together. Keep practicing and it will get better each time you do it.

  • oh dat sounds easy

  • with which fingers do you grab the hair underneath?

  • @candiimamii326 :

U can grab hair with any available finger. I mainly use my middle or ring finger.

  • how do u take em of? thank yu

  • @vfcisnumber1 :

Simply start at the ends and unravel them with a small or medium-sized comb.

  • it is still kinda hard for me to understand how to do this :(

  • @ThePrincess612 :

Practice, practice, practice! ;-) It will eventually start to make sense to you.

  • how long does the hair have to be to get it cornrow??

  • @Bommie69 :

At least one inch. Some people are able to braid even shorter hair.

  • question, everytime i twist to add the hair, everything becomes so knotted and one big hott mess. (using the mannaquin) this is the only video that had taught me and ive watched over 50 thanks. how can i keep hair from tangling?

  • @lyricbrodie :

Try pulling smaller pieces of hair to add into the braid.

Also, (if you're able to) hold the hair in place with one hand, then grab a small comb with the other hand and comb thru the hair to free it of tangles while braiding.

  • Is there a way to make really really thick corn rows? Thick enough that only 5 or so braids would cover the hair?

  • @TwistedComplex :

Sure, just part bigger sections for your cornrows and grab bigger sections of hair when braiding.

  • I love this video. I don't know how you explained so well in only 3:11 minutes. I have a lot of friends who would love to learn to cornrow their little girl's hair to save a little time from doing hair every day. Do you have videos to sell? What is the history of braiding? I've never seen pictures either painted on canvas or wall reliefs. I.E. Eygptian cartouches?

  • where can i get one of these dolls to practice?

  • .....I thought it was harder to cornrow hair or its you that makes it look easier ......

  • When you stop half way, secure the braid with an elastic band then spiral curl the ends of your hair or pull it up into a ponytail!

  • ok so i just started cosmotolgy classes and i just went out a bought a new maniquwn and i really wqanna no how to corn rol hair and i am such a slow learn is there any advice u could give?

  • Yes, start with a small section and take your time. Just be patient and you'll be braiding in no time! :-)

  • so when you're doing cornrows, you're braiding under instead of over??? and ive been trying to cornroll for years.

  • I am braiding over...when the hair is on top of your hands. It is much easier than braiding under(invisible).

  • its better than any other videos but i dont gett how you get the hair at the bottom :)

  • I am grabbing pieces of hair and twisting them to the braid.

  • great video tutorial! thank you so much!

  • this is the only video that helped me understand more =]

  • BEST VIDEO I SEEN!!! =]

  • Ight ima try it out on ma lil sista

  • um... can you do this all by ureself???? like on ure self...

im an african american and i think i would look cute with cornrows lol

  • Yes, you can do it on yourself, but it may be a little difficult. Be sure to grasp this video completely before trying to do it yourself. When doing it yourself, you must train your brain to process the technique differently.

  • my aunt taught me how to braid but she taught me to braid over and im tryin to do it under i can braid under but cornrowin under is difficult for me kinda embarrasin cuz im black lol but it gets frustrating some times

  • if you ever get a chnce again i hope u can do another one, this is so hard and i rally wana learn.

  • i hae straight hair that is 5 inches long. do i need extensions for cornrows?

  • 5 inches is long enough! :-) You do not need extensions.

  • i have straight hair that is 5 inches long. do i need to get extensions for corn rows?

  • UGHHH,H tht looks so easy but its not!

i mean i can do it to other ppl but i cant do it to my own hair, no matter how man times i try!! >:(

  • You've almost have to train your brain to process the technique "backwards" in your mind. That is why it is so hard because you are seeing your head at a different angle.

Just remember the steps...twist..grab..then add....twist...grab..then add the hair. Just remember the steps and do not focus on how the process looks. Hope this helps!

  • omg thanks for the tutorial! it didnt click in my mind until you said move the left strand to the right..bc before i wasnt going in any particular order..but my braids were going under instead of over!

  • i did it =]

    qonna keep practicinq ...

  • i still got mine in and im blonde i got them on holiday 3 weeks ago

  • ii have alot of touble doiin diis... how do0 yhu grab more haiir?? ii dont get iit replie plzzz

  • When you're ready to grab extra hair...use one of your free fingers to (I use my ring finger) to part and separate the hair so that you can add it to the twisted strand.

  • I have verry thick hair is cornrow possible or is a dreadlock better for me?

  • Either if fine, but if you want to cornrow your hair, it would be easier to grab in thin parts.

  • omg it's hard! but im going to pratice!! on my poor poor friends ;)

  • LOL

  • Thanks so much for this how-to! :D

  • how long should my hair be?.im male Asian.tnx

  • At least 2 inches.

  • how long should my hair be?tnx

  • do you mind dying the streaks different colors so i can see whats going on ? hahahaha i didnt know you braided with the free hair!

  • u have very fine hair would i still be able to do this

  • Yes

  • hey,im so happy that i cant find the right words to express it!! thanks alot!!! i thought only people with long hair can do cornrows but i ran into my bathroom and came out with a cornrow!! thanks a billion!!! you are the greatest hairstyle teacher in the universe!!!! thanks alot!!

  • I've always had a mental block about how this is done let alone the more elaborate styles. A partner of mine learned how to do his daughter's hair from Youtube. I'm gonna go grab my wife's head and practice...LOL

  • so do you just grab the hair from underneath so its kind of like using 4 strands of hair im confused

  • Yes, you grab the hair from underneath, but it is only three strands.

  • Omg, Im also a male, well Im a school boy, and i have kinda long hair which i have been bullied a lot about in school, but after my summer holiday Im either gonna do this, or cut my hair. What Im fearing is that it's gonna look bad on me and i will get bullied more .. :(

  • I'm sure you'll look very cool!

  • wow i thought it was hard

    thanks

    =]

  • cld you plz tell me what length my hair needs to be minimum to get cornrows braided?i'm a male getting it done for the first time.

  • Most people are able to braid hair when it is 1 inch in length.

You may want to ask around. Other professionals may be able to braid shorter length hair!

  • how do you wash your hair if you have cornrows. im not gona go without washing my hair.

  • Run the water through your braids. When adding soap, pat your head, but do not scrub because it will mess up your braids. If you tend to wash your hair everyday, they will not last very long.

  • ...ughhh...finally...thanks for the vid!

  • so do you only add hair to the one that is free??

  • Yes, you are correct! :-)

  • Ohh man i got it!!

    thanks for thiss video!

  • for a person who could not cornrow at all, I've learned to cornrow my own hair and i thank you a million times for this video! youre a great teacher!

  • Thank you very much!

  • this is harder than it looks....whew i keep at it. My daughter complains im doing it wrong...LOL

  • Just keep practicing and it will become easier to understand.

  • ughhyhh

i cant do this no matter how hard i try

i have no one to practise on so i have to do it on myself and its so complicatedd

    gosh im soo fruteratedd!!

  • Is it neccessary to twist?

  • im mexican n i was wonder n wut i should put in my hair to make it hold ? i have curly hair but im not sure if it will hold or not

  • I'm a mother of three girls and never could cornrow! Your video is the clearest I've seen. Thanks.

    thanks

  • Just practiced on my girlfriend. It's working hehehe. Thnx a lot!!

  • were did you get the head from did it cost alot of money? i am 21 i want to learn how to do cornrows did it take you a long time i always thought that you couldn't learn how to do it it had to be in you lol

  • hey does it matter if you have really straight hair instead of knappy hair

  • Kinky hair is easier, but it will work on straight, fine hair. You may need to add mousse or gel to keep it in place.

  • i want to get afro for cornrows how long does my afro have to be?

  • @TheDarkestEdge :

Your hair must be at least 1 inch in length.

  • how do u do singles on a boy?

  • Great Vid. Practiced on my little sister. Just gotta learn how to do it on myself XD !

    5 STARS! *****

  • is this sort of similar to french braiding a little bit of hair?

  • Yes, you are correct!! :-)

  • omg thats so easy!!!! u a gud teacher!!

  • Thank you!!

  • so it is kinda like a french braid

  • Yes it is like a french braid, but with smaller sections of hair.

  • omg i just cornrowed two braids in my hair!! thanks!!!

  • I'm gonna give this a go after I dry my hair. Hope I can grasp it!

  • You'll have no problem catching on!!! :-)

    You'll do great!

  • thanks i have been trying to learn forever but i think tis helped the most going to go try right now

  • OMG!!! I seriously just learned how to cornrow my hair! Who knew it was soo simple!!! A little more practice and who knows what I could do!!!

  • I want to thank all of you for such wonderful comments! :-)

  • i can do one side but the other side seems much harder to do why is that?

  • It is similar to being right-handed and trying to write with your left hand. You must train your brain to see things differently. It may help to angle your hands a different way or even have your client tilt the head to make it easier for you.

  • wow thanks alot :)

  • hey do you have to give free hair to each one of the three strands? coz when i try to do it the braid sorta lifts up at the bottom.. please help!

  • Yes. Firmly grasp the hair when you are adding the free hair to the braid. This will help the braid become more secure.

  • best vid on cornrow-ing. :D

  • It's not hard to understand.

    Thanks for the tip.

  • thank you! trying to learn how to braid my sons hair :)

  • Thank you so much. This is the easiest video I've found. Good Job!

  • thanks im practice and learn to do my own now.
