Wroooooong, The 13th ghost was The Broken Heart. It was to ensure that the eye of hell would open. Arthur and them were lied to when they were told it was a Failsafe to prevent it from opening. Because the only way it would have worked is for the 13th ghost to have been a willing sacrifice out of love.

If Arthur had jumped into the rings and perished while the spell still played, the eye would have opened and Cyrus would have won. But as that is not the case, and... *Continued in next post

the spell's reading has halted/distorted, The machine lost stability and so, would not create the 13th ghost, nor would it have been put to use in opening the eye of hell.

Cyrus was not the 13th ghost as his sacrifice was forced by the 11 Ghosts(Minus Arthur's wife) in anger for their captivity. And Arthur's Wife could not have been the 13th as she was already the 4th.

In the realm of the movie, there was no 13th ghost created fitting to the plan of the Black Zodiac. So no character is the 13th

Might I suggest reading the Film Script or watching the movie again for further clarification.

Kalina actually refers to the 13th as "The Broken Heart". And no, Arthur was not the 13th. He didn't die. There was no actual 13th, just Arthur was intended be it.
