I'm only watching this video for my drug studies class I'm taking at university, but this documentary seems mostly based off of ideas that are not very commonly thought among people who study these topics of ancient life. I am an art history major and have taken many classes about ancient painting and have studied the exact cave paintings shown in this video and I have never come across a scholarly journal that says that the paintings have any relation to drugs.
Cocaine is one hell of drug, I had the opportunity to of try it one time, it really puts things into perspective, lets just say you'll suddenly understand why drug addicts are drug addicts. If you ever want to know what heaven would be like if it existed, try to cocaine, however for that same reason it is probably best you don't.

I was hoping they'd talk about all kinds of drugs (ex. heart drugs, anti-microbial, ect.), not just drugs that will get you high and make you trip. I think for peace sake all plants should be legal but powerful plants (for example the yew that can cause extreme bradycardia and is lethal) should be made obvious that they will cause alterations in health or well-being and should be regarded with care.

I think drugs have a bad reputation due to modern man. As this documentary says ancient people used drugs not to get high but to reach an altered state of consciousness, to cleanse ones soul and to be closer to their gods. @RyanVlogging Weed isn't harmless to everyone.... Just to most.. When I tried it my experiences were horrid... Also it can cause depression and long lasting panic disorders in those prone.. It's a risk with anyone because you never know who will experience the negative effects. The same thing goes for prescription medications. You have to weight the benefits versus the risks. If you don't need drugs I don't recommend them.
@guitarobsessed85 People who have anxiety disorders feel anxious over all sorts of experiences. Panic attacks are easy to stop. You have to understand that as you begin to feel anxious your heart rate goes up, adrenalin starts pumping, you feel strange, and this leads to more panic and worse anxiety. The key thing with all anxiety is to let your body relax.
@101clackers I agree for the most part, but being a biochemist I know that THC activates the amygdala and stimulates the release of dopamine and norepinephrine. Norepinephrine is responsible for anxiety. So there is a causal factor between marijuana and anxiety. The anxiety continues after the drug because once people experience panic they fear having other panic attacks and that is a cycle that could have been avoided. CBD is the chemical responsible for all the good effects from marijuana

Yes, I know amphetamines were sold on the street in the 50s and 60s, and meth (in the form of speed) was sold at the same time, but was generally injected. However, the current trend with crystal meth is a modified form of the drug which resulted from the availability of the ingredients from grocery store shelves and shortage of natural drugs.

It can be synthesized like any other chemical, there is no difference in the synthesis compared to a extraction both use chemicals to obtain a final product. I know allot of base-heads that like meth allot more then coke. crystal meth isn't modified it's freebase just means someone added ammonia or another chemical to base it, speed is a slang word for amphetamines.

I found this film mildly entertaining but the annoying soundtrack, disturbing images, and the narrator's constant use of "othering" words like "mysterious", "strange", "frightening", "exotic", "bizarre" and negative language about drug users dehumanizes the subject. Drug use is part of our human nature.

people that ridicule drugs are the very same people that drink 2 bottles of wine a night, wear womens underwear and basically have their vice.
if its a plant, chemical, cash or a ritual everyone has something that gives them a good feeling or a 'high'.
its when violence follows that is when drugs are bad.
get high, drunk or whatever turns you on......just dont hurt anyone or anything.

I think drugs have a bad reputation due to modern man. As this documentary says ancient people used drugs not to get high but to reach an altered state of consciousness, to cleanse ones soul and to be closer to their gods. People have forgotten what drugs were intended for. They can be a powerful tool in ones journey to enlightenment, that doesn't mean Im telling people to get messed up to try and have visions. Im simply saying that like with most things we strayed from the original intention.

Drugs makes the aging process accelerating n ppl get old, look older than thr age .It also causes impotency n lack of libido.Interestingly most of da ppl take drugs for increasing their libido n potency in the beginning,not knowing tht the very same drug he-she is using have these drastic side effects.Another group of ppl take drugs to elevate their mood or2 forget their sorrows,not knowing tht the drug itself wil later bcum the cause of low mood nd depression.Ultimately they all die from drugs!

Sure, you do meth and your going to look like death, but marijuana, mushrooms? I know people who do these who are older, but look younger than other people their same age, and they have more youthful spirits. I really find your statement on this issue quite assumptive and inaccurate.

@RyanVlogging Weed isn't harmless to everyone.... Just to most.. When I tried it my experiences were horrid... Also it can cause depression and long lasting panic disorders in those prone.. It's a risk with anyone because you never know who will experience the negative effects. The same thing goes for prescription medications. You have to weight the benefits versus the risks. If you don't need drugs I don't recommend them.

@guitarobsessed85 People who have anxiety disorders feel anxious over all sorts of experiences. Panic attacks are easy to stop. You have to understand that as you begin to feel anxious your heart rate goes up, adrenalin starts pumping, you feel strange, and this leads to more panic and worse anxiety. The key thing with all anxiety is to let your body relax.

@101clackers I agree for the most part, but being a biochemist I know that THC activates the amygdala and stimulates the release of dopamine and norepinephrine. Norepinephrine is responsible for anxiety. So there is a causal factor between marijuana and anxiety. The anxiety continues after the drug because once people experience panic they fear having other panic attacks and that is a cycle that could have been avoided. CBD is the chemical responsible for all the good effects from marijuana

Drugs def need regulation... just like pharmaceuticals and booze. However, the idea that "we need to make drugs illegal to protect people" is absolutely crazy. If gov't was really concerned about "protecting people" then they'd ban cigs, and the most certainly wouldn't intervene in economical/political regimes in other countries. The war on drugs is and was a lie... the sad part is that we've all been raised to believe it to be true.

There is, always has been, and always will be a certain segment of the population that does drugs. No amount of legislation is going to change that fact. The only problems that are encountered with drugs are when governments make them illegal. If MJ and other plants were as plentiful and as available as water there would exist NO crime whatsoever associated with the acquisition of drugs, nor would there be any more or less addicts. Meth was borne out of the limited availability of natural drugs.

@Dr1Canuckchuck not at all if you know anything about chemical history you would know that the inventor of methamphetamine wanted to make a better version of ephedrine and came up with meth and amphetamine, with them, ww2 would of not been won it was used by almost EVERY army in world war 2 used it because it's cheap availability, appetite suppressant and you can work extra hours. they also brought back hemp to help win the war. not for drug purposes tho.

Yes, I know amphetamines were sold on the street in the 50s and 60s, and meth (in the form of speed) was sold at the same time, but was generally injected. However, the current trend with crystal meth is a modified form of the drug which resulted from the availability of the ingredients from grocery store shelves and shortage of natural drugs.

Secondly, I was a coke user for 20 years and I wouldn't touch meth. I saw what happened to the people who used meth and I wouldn't go near it. I've since quit everything (5 years, now) but I was once a drug user who did coke, marijuana and alcohol. Meth is NOT natural, it comes from a combination of chemicals.

It can be synthesized like any other chemical, there is no difference in the synthesis compared to a extraction both use chemicals to obtain a final product. I know allot of base-heads that like meth allot more then coke. crystal meth isn't modified it's freebase just means someone added ammonia or another chemical to base it, speed is a slang word for amphetamines.
