Thank you for your post. I agree that LPs' and CDs' sound of most pre-war blues have been distorted by wrongly too fast playing of the original SP discs .

Well, I have two questions :

1) Is it your instinct that gave you an idea to slow down the conventional versions, did other YouTube posts hint you or did you read any article on this issue?

2) How did you decide the playing speed of your versions? Depend on your intuition or did you use any specific method?

@Ackkie I'd read an article about it, but the guy's site was so out of date that almost immediately after getting picked up by a news aggregate site it shut down due to exceeded bandwidth. The site was kind of 'Geocities' era almost, and yet the dude refused to post anything but short snippets and wanted to charge money for 'his' recording of these songs, just slowed down by slowing the turntable all the way and speeding up a cassette recorder's speed all the way up, ~20% slower/lower.

@Ackkie I just wanted there to be some kind of approximation - I agree that analog slowing would sound better than doing it digitally - so I skipped out on work one afternoon while I was semi-obsessed with the idea and slowed a few using Garageband, which isn't the most straightforward/intuitive DAW to use for such a thing. Hopefully someone will take an RJ record, do the conversion as described in my other comment, and post the results for the world to hear without 'putting a store by it'.

@ickypaws Hey asshole, since you have all this time to figure that out, do better. It's been slowed 20% and detuned 300 cents. By the way, listen his contemporary and direct influence Son House and he sounds much like this.

If you want you can go buy the OG dickhead's versions for ~15 bucks USD, not bad for an afternoon's worth of work slowing down some dead black dude's music that you don't have the rights to.

Or, god forbid, go and do a better job yourself? Don't forget to fuck yourself.
