This is amazingly simple and brilliant research. It's just a replication (showing the results are consistent) of the first experiments that discovered the critical time in which humans are able to learn any language, 6-8 months. This test has gone on to test so many other capabilities of babies, like hearing. You can't ask a child how well it can hear, but you can do this test and find out whether or not the child just is not responding to speech, but they do hear, preventing dif. misdiagnoses
